You are correct on the 270 I was thinking 742 and the 06 is a touch lower pressure but hard to believe enough to make the difference. I completely agree with the 7mm express being a fiasco! It's a good thing Remington made good guns because they lost plenty of money with failed cartridges! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They certainly are "different". I have one in 358win. I did a bunch of research and could never figure out if that was the stock that came on it originally but I can imagine anyone wanting to put one on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Again I'm not saying it isn't true but it still doesn't make sense because the 740 came out 2yrs before the7mm express and the 740 was introduced in other "high pressure" cartridges 270 and 30-06. Interesting info for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That is interesting info on info on them being downloaded for the 742 and 760. I have never heard of that before. Not saying it isn't true but it doesn't make sense because they were also chambered in 270 and 30-06 so I wonder why they would have softened the 280? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The 280 has suffered from middle child syndrome since its introduction as a 7mm express. Doesn't do anything better than its big and little brother but does everything they can do with the same bullet weights. It's a heck of a cartridge just with less fan fair. I reload for my pump and auto so I have no idea what the availability is for ammo but there's enough 280's around that there's gotta be ammo out there probably just not a dicks or Walmart. Just got to the parking area for my last big woods hunt of the year not as much snow as I hoped for but its fresh powder. Going to put a lot of miles on today until I find a track worth chasing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Regretting attempting to make it happen is a lot easier than regretting not making a move, at least that's what I have learned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First time hunting my farm in over a month. Don't usually shoot does but there has been a doe not using her front leg since early MZ hoping she comes in the swamp for an acorn and a does of copper poisoning. Just started snowing here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What's the difference? Baiting vs. Attracting
Buckmaster7600 replied to Zem18's topic in General Hunting
So if I'm understanding it makes it ok because you put in time and money? Like I said in an earlier post you're still hoping for the same outcome, drawing/keeping deer and changing their natural habits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Honestly I have no idea however I don't have any idea how? Is it baiting to mow a hayfield or clover plot? Is it baiting to shake an apple tree so a few apples fall? Is it baiting to plant a foot plot and put fence around it until a couple days before you hunt it? I'm not trying to argue but I can't imagine how it could be? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
First deer of the morning a big lone doe at 50 yds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't think there is a difference. Someone that understands food plots can make them just as effective as a bait pile. I rarely hunt our food plots but my brother does. After I hunt this morning I am going to brushhog a 2 acre corn plot and I would bet a big chunk of money that my brother shoots a doe in it today or tomorrow. Food plots are planted by hunters to do 2 things keep/draw deer and change natural habits, that is the exact same thing baiting does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Can a bullet kill a deer even if you miss?
Buckmaster7600 replied to Hunter007's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Could it? I don't know but I do know for a fact that a 12.7x99 "50bmg" will not. 4 combat deployments to the sand box and I have witnessed first hand more than a handful of wounded individuals with wounds sustained by 50cals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
using that code what did my buck from last year weight? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not live weight as he stated. Congrats on the kill Wolc! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Left at 2:15 this morning drove 3hrs to find some tracking snow, pretty disappointed but I gotta get in the woods so hopefully as I go up I can find more snow. Never hunted this area before so we will see what today brings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

About a buck a shot for both 6.5 Cmor and 7mm-08 in the cheap stuff. Usually plinking isn't what you do with a AR10. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How are they biased? Like I said earlier I sleep at a camp "for now" and travel to where the best conditions and sign are. 95% of my hunting is done by parking at a trailhead usually of a main road. My half of my camp is on the market. For 33K$ it can be yours? I want to sell it so I can buy a truck camper to be more mobile to save on my driving around before daylight. I am packing my truck as I type so I can leave at 2am for a 3hr drive to head up to around cranberry lake for the last day because I heard there might still be some tracking snow. I have never hunted this area in my life but I looked at a map and I found where a couple trailheads are that I'm going to check out before daylight. If there is tracking snow I will put a 20$ bill on the fact that I will see a buck tomorrow. Now most likely it won't be a shooter but that's what makes it fun. Having hunted the ADKS for as long as I have I can say that I average more bucks sightings in a day when conditions are right than I do on my family's 300 acre farm. With all the land in the Adk's I have no problem with someone having the ability to pay for better more convenient access if they so desire. In my case my camp that I have on paper company property gives me access to the backside of a huge chunk of state land that is 27 miles from the closest main road. I still have a 2 mile walk to get to the state land and there are very very few that would travel that far to get to the state land anyways. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why not a 7mm-08 and split the difference? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
