  1. Waited until daylight and still hunted my way in. Wind is blowing like crazy. I hung my stand 8" off the ground instead of trying to tree surf. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Do you know what cartridge the hunter was shooting? I have never heard of a lung shot deer holes plugging? Was there an exit? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. If there is going to be a gun antlerless season it makes way more sense to have it early and not late. Late seasons does are already bred, late season bucks could have shed they're antlers etc. Perfect time in my opinion for a antlerless gun season would be the weekend before oct 1. If the goal was to kill does get them before they've been pressured and are still in normal summer movement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I would thoroughly enjoy trying a few loads in it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Just had a unicorn with about a 4" spike at 40yds. Only the 2nd deer of the day but both were bucks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Just had a unicorn with about a 4" spike at 40yds. Only the 2nd deer of the day but both were bucks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. For the most part yes. I have only shot 9 bucks in NY from a a stand. All the rest were still hunting/tracking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Toting my tikka t3 stainless that's rebored to 35whelen with the barrel but to 18". It's my go to stand rifle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I don't think we can compare NY to the Midwest because it's too different. I have hunted the Midwest for 10 years now and the biggest difference is the bucks. I have huge parcels of private land to hunt in NY. And hunt the Adirondacks. Both have little to no hunting pressure. Most Mature NY bucks are ghosts that do 99. ...% of their daily activities in the cover of darkness. A mature Midwest buck acts like a king and spend way more time on their feet in daylight. I don't have scientific evidence of this but on my lease in Ohio from oct 1-the first week of January my trail cam pics of mature bucks are about 50-50 day/night pics. In NY even in the Adirondacks where most bucks don't see a hunter all season if I get 20 pics of mature bucks there might be 1 daylight pic. Around home I get a lot more pics of buck but still have a handful of daylight pics. In Ohio the mature bucks are usually the first ones out in a food plot or field that simply doesn't happen in my 20 years of hunting NY. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Spoke too soon first shot 6:28. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Slept like a baby, been in the stand since 5:35. Good luck everyone! I'm surprised that at 6:26 still haven't heard a shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Not to be redundant but I agree with most everyone else's opinion. Will a 243 kill a deer? Without question but there are better tools for the job. I'm not much of a predator hunter but I have never understood the "varmint gun" theory but I have killed a ton of dogs with larger deer cartridges and they die just as dead. 13. Once a gun is sighted in after load development it isn't shot off a bench again other than to confirm zero. I have a 500yd range in my back yard with various steel targets from 10-300yds. I think many guys that don't enjoy shooting long guns are the ones limited to "range rules." Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. They have their spot, I wear one ice fishing but I sweat too much wearing it while walking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. It only covers the part you aren't aiming at. I shot a tritlium pin that was .39 and I loved it but the tritlium burnt out and no longer glowed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. No, it won't. But if you're having trouble seeing them you'll need a new sight anyways. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Go to .29's they are much better in my opinion. There is absolutely no reason for tiny pins in hunting situations. Of HHA would make a pin that was .39 I would use it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. NZ bow-sept 25-oct15 Xbow-oct16-oct31 Rifle-nov1-nov30 Muzzeloader-dec1-dec7 SZ Bow-Oct1-nov10 Crossbow-nov11-Friday after thanksgiving Rifle-Saturday after thanksgiving for 16 days. Mandatory report of all harvests at a check station. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. You're fighting the wrong fight, I don't know how you can blame this on the trump administration when the real problems are in our state. I hate NY politics but it's home. I make great money working for the state and the day I retire I will take NY's money to another state. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Why do you think it's ok for other states to have to pick up our slack? Yea we loose our deductions but should we have had them to begin with? It's not the federal Governments problem that we are raped by state taxes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I'm F*cking Freezing! And I never get cold Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Like I said before everyone should get 1 buck tag but landowners with "X"amount of land should get more tags. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Yes, that's what I'm saying. I don't think it's fair that I pay 10k+$ a year on my 300 acres and get the same amount of tags that someone who owns zero land gets. The problem is in Ag areas like where I live people just take the illegal approach and fill wive's/kids tags with zero risk of getting caught because it's on their own property. Why not legitimize it so the state can regulate it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
