  1. For the barrel I use a bore snake and hopps #9 breach plug use rem oil and a torch cleaner. It's the easiest cleaning BP substitute I have used and I don't know if any that I haven't. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The only time I have ever called in a doe was rattling. That has happened a bunch of times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. My Ohio 8pt I killed because he blew at me. Had no clue he was down in the thicket below me. Wind shifted a little he blew I finally saw him and killed him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I still use and swear by tree bark! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. If I knew then what I know now I would never have shot my big adk bear. 2 days of pure hell over 2 mountains worth of dragging was not worth the rug and a 75lbs of terrible meat! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. We just had a small buck come out a cross the ravine in the thick stuff let's hope he makes another appearance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Finally made it to the stand let's hope one of the lone does I have let go a bunch of times steps out so she can be with me for her first deer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Trying to get a 9yd girl ready for the woods is very trying at times! We will get out there eventually Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. There is nothing that works as well as wool! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I'm not a fan of them. I like clean simple reticles they can get very busy inside and that can cost you time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Can't believe no one has mentioned these yet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I set the stabilizer in a tripod. Takes out the shakes very well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I agree I'm a terrible shot so I always sight my guns in 6" off. I figure when I pull the shot it might help me or just make it a clean miss. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. That's an interesting approach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I got sick of chasing my tail with rifled slugs but my "gathering" I was ever able to achieve was with buckhammers I say gathering because it's very hard to call 3 shots in 10-12" a group. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Sounds awesome, any pictures? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Have you ever considered reloading? If you shoot much at all it would pay for itself pretty quickly. Or like most of us that reload we don't save any money because we just shoot more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Well opening day of smoke pole has been a success for me this far let a spike and a 6 go so far. What a beautiful day to be in the woods! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I would shoot a deer with my muzzleloader at 300yds without question. But I don't shoot pellets because I want consistency in my loads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. got out of work at 6am and already had this spike walk by me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I wouldn't use white hots to a wood stove! They are the dirtiest most inconsistent pellet I have ever used! They leave a wicked bad burn ring. I use blackhorn 209 you will need to get the breech plug for it but it's well worth it, trust me you will thank me! I own the same gun and love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Good analogy and I somewhat agree. Difference is if your rifle is a junk you have a the company's CS to deal with, hopefully they will get it right or get you a new one. With dogs if you get a dud your screwed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Ther are 3 animals in our woods that I love to see almost as much as deer, fisher, bobcat and otters. If I see one while hunting it was a successful hunt. I couldn't imagine shooting one just for the mount. It's legal and I have no problem with anyone doing it just not for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Not once did I say there weren't better all I'm saying is glock makes an excellent gun and I have shot a ton of them. And I shot most of them at 25yds. My full size Glocks shoot just as well as my 1911's and I have done way more tinkering on the 1911's and yes 1 of them is a Kimber and it's the worst shooting and running full size pistol I own. Now it may very well be a fluke but the 2x's it's been back to Kimber they still haven't fixed it. The Kimber is one of the prettiest guns I have in the safe. Back to the rifles the inexpensive guns rhe OP has listed are most likely not going to be passed down to kids and kids kids like some more expensive rifles but they will absolutely kill deer just the same and shoot just the same. One thing you have to remember is someone buying a Ruger American or the others is most likely not going to develop a load for it they are most likely going to buy a box of ammo when they buy the gun and sight it in and kill deer. Not everyone is like you and I and enjoy tinkering with loads and guns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
