A level? I don't even use them when doing construction let alone shooting. -
In the market for a semi automatic rifle

I have an older mini14 the ranch rifle and it's accurate enough. My biggest problem with them is reliability, there are too many parts in the operating system. And that trigger gotta be 8lbs. -
What are you using opening day SZ?

I shoot leftie and have oversized ambi safeties on all my AR's so I have never had this problem. -

Having Used an M4 for 8 years and on 4 deployments I actually prefer the ergonomics of the "compliant" stock and a flash surpressor is way over rated. So although I hate the F***ing laws my NY compliant AR's still function great! -

All these ugly comments, is there some kind of gun beauty pageant I don't know about? I guess I have never cared how a gun looks more about how they perform. -

Saying a mini 14 is a good alternative to a well built AR is absurd! They are not even in the same league. -

Stag arms makes an "alright" AR there are better and there are worse. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in an ar to build their own or have someone build one for you as you can exactly what you want much cheaper. Also get it chambered in 5.56 or 223 wyled as you can shoot 223 in them and 5.56 with a 223 you should only shoot 223 as the 5.56 is at slightly higher pressure. -
Time is money and I just opened my 4th pound of blackhorn this year and I bet I have spent less time cleaning than I did after shooting a box of 777.
-
I have used 777 and they are not compable my #1 complaint on 777's is the inconstancy between pellet to pellet I have seen as much as 10grains. If shooting 777 loose or pellets the stuff is dirty! 309 is the cleanest most consistent powder I have used and I think I've tried most if not all. If there is a downside to the 309 it is getting it lit with the proper primers and breech plugs that's not really a down side either.

Dead deer do not travel unless I see them drop 2 hrs. Unless it's raining!

It seems like in this site there is a miss or a wound for every kill.
-
How do you suggest we fix the problem, every year there are more bow hunters. It's one of the only growing parts of hunting other than predator And many of the new archers are going about it the right way but a lot are not.
-
I have never thought about it like that Doc very good point. I think we are safe for a long time based on the revenue that comes from the archery world.
-
Doc I agree 100% but im looking at it for the animals sake. Not everyone is willing to devote the time needed to use vertical archery tackle but still take it to the field.
-
I agree with the bottom part however you and I think like that but many do not so why not give them another "easier" avenue. As far as banning verticle bows if many of the "hunters" that don't have time to practise or that just don't had the ability to use XBOWS all bow season they would be stupid not because their success rate would go up.I don't see where I said "if WE were?"
-
Actaully the opposite. Trust me I'm the last one that wants a new law! I never said ban verticle bows! My point was actually making less laws with a full inclusion. I stated that I most likely will never use a crossbow again, however some if not most are not willing or able to put in the time to be proficient with a verticle bow and for the sake of the animal why not make up for their lack of proficiency with a more efficient weapon?
-
If that really is the reason than the training program needs a total revamp and anyone involved should demand it. That is the most half assed reasoning I have ever heard. When I was a weapons instructor in the marine corps they decided to put optics on are rifles we were given an owners manual and a week and had to teach a class in 2 weeks. A crossbow isn't ground breaking technology they are thousands of years old. If an instructor isn't willing to do a little research than he/she doesn't have any rights to be an instructor!
-
A doe will come into heat multiple times a year if she need to.
-
I agree but the reason I have changed my mind on this subject is because it takes SO much less time to become proficient with an x bow as to a verticle bow.
-
You can minimize the risk via a Xbow. When you add lack of skill, ability to the shooting of live game the chance of something not good go up exponentially. Take the lack of skill, ability out of it and the chances go down. A crossbow takes 95% Of the skill out of it and makes it mechanical.
-
The X-BOW is just as accurate as a compound... its all in the one who is shooting it.. Hopefully everyone does the animal the justice and practices with whatever weapon your using to the point of being comfortable and accurate at whatever range you choose suitable.. I completely disagree with this. Yes I can shoot my compound extremely accurately however I can pull out my crossbow that I haven't shot in 3 Years and match or better my compound groups.
-
You will never stop this type. The type I'm referring to see the ones wounding at 20 yds.

I'll 3rd this WHY?
