LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong

She has an arrow in her I would not be leaving the woods most likely with her moving the broad head will cut more and more. A deer will try to pull the arrow out with her mouth if she can reach it. -
Well NY is great at making laws that are very difficult to obey and prosecute. "safe act, sunrise sunset the list could go on forever" The worst part is that it's usually the honest ones that will get caught up in the grey area and get in trouble!

Hooyman Saw extendable versions
Buckmaster7600 replied to chas0218's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I have had one for about 5 years and loved it at first but all the plastic "junctions" are all loose and rattle I had to add a couple bolts to keep it together. I called and emailed their customer service over the summer and have yet to get a response. It sucks because I liked the saw and it's the only one like it on the market but for 80 or 90$ for the 10ft I expected a better product. -
I asked a similar question to a encon officer at their booth at the fair and was told if there was ever an issue they would use a range finder. As always I would call yourself but that was 1 eco's response ask another they may say different.

I must be weird but I Love my lone wolf, it's super light and small. It does have a small platform but that's what makes it so easy to carry. I have a sit and climb ol'man drone and can't stand it, it's so slow to climb with as to the big "steps" I can take with the lone wolf and X-Stand.

I told him last night that if he thought I was an a$$ hole from not letting him hunt my land to wait and see what he has coming hopefully he gets the point! The nice thing about right to farm law is I can get away with a lot! If this don't work I will start spreading manure at 2am!
-
His bedroom window might be 30 from the edge of the field, I hope it warms up this weekend!
-
I'm absolutely not spending this much time on this guy however I rent the 4 acre field that surrounds his lot for hay and I just made a call to have 2 6500 gallon loads of liquid cow manure spread on it . We will see how he likes that!
-
Yea in my experience they are not comparable, if you ever have the chance try a x-stand they are the only one that competes with a lone wolf!
-
Trimble is the app I use works awesome and is free!

Yup talked to my best friend that's a sheriff he said 25$ plus court fees but unless a sheriff already had a reason to be at court the officer wouldn't show up so it would be dropped.
-
The worst they would do is give him a 25$ fine not worth my time or theirs.
-
I know a lot of guys that call always hunt the same properties. Don't you think the deer get used to hearing the same thing and begin to know what's up?
-
I have to agree, it would make total sense for him to let me hunt his 1 1/3 acre so I can let him hunt my 400.So last nights "visit" went as expected he answered the door I told him what I seen him doing he denied it over and over and eventually slipped and fessed up.Then my neighbor who was with me told him that if that's how he was treating property that he didn't have permission to hunt that he didn't want him on his either. The man nearly started crying explaining how none of this was fair and he moved out of the city to get away from a$$ holes like us. And that he didnt work so he had a lot of time to "sneak onto our land when we weren't around" so as the plot thickens we will have to wait and see what else this moron will try. I don't think keeping him off of my property will be too hard because the only entrance he has because of the creek is about 20 feet wide and I have a 4 strand high tension electric fence that I have for keepin my beef cows in. Well needless to say the beef have been gone for a month but the power is back on the fence as of this morning:).

Nice buck hunter! -
Have tried this before and no one ever wants to put up the time and money but always wants to hunt over the best food plots and what not. I spend a ton of money and time on my land and I have found it easier to just have it to myself and my brother who hunts a few times a year. My neighbor on the other side who is a distant relative and I used to "share our lands" but he shot multiple "extra" deer and what not and instead of it becoming a fight we agreed to stay on our own sides with a "tracking agreement." It has worked very well for us. I guess I am kind of selfish but I like hunting by myself and not having to worry about others.

What an awesome experience for both of you best of luck on the recovery! -
Having hunted "the big woods" all my life here are my suggestions Wear good boots, carry a light rifle "if you have the option" never go with out a compas and the knowledge of how to use it. And one of the most important things is to get a box of shells and practice shooting free hand and quickly you won't have many opportunities so making the ones you get count is very important!

What grinds my gears is elitist crossbow hunters that think those things belong in regular archery season!
-
The hasty sling is about all I ever use.

I have almost 400 acres plus another 100 across the Hudson in sz and a camp in the ADK's I hvae learned to live with trespassers. I'm not around enough to keep them out just enough to make them think about it.
-
Yup deer will move and I will be comfortable sounds good to me!
-
I don't get riled up over the little stuff if I catch him again I will call the cops he will get a 25$ fine and most likely do it again. You cant let little things bother you. I do this because I enjoy being outdoors not to get stressed Over A holes. I can and will make his life miserable if it continues but certainly not getting stressed and ruin a beautiful hunt over it.
