  1. I'm not saying the law is needed, saying it's not needed because it would allow people to break the law is STUPID!
  2. Having no rules is completely different than my example "and tell them not to get dirty." Having laws to prevent outlaws from breaking laws just doesn't make sense to me!
  3. How has this became an acceptable way of thinking why do we as a society see it fit to restrict others because of what some may do? Do you not let your kids play outside because they may get dirty or do you let your kids go outside and tell them not to get dirty. This train of thought is very sad to me!
  4. Yes they can. I know some states allow you to carry a sidearm while bow hunting. They don't have "safe acts" either.
  5. Yes! Absolutely we owe it to the animal. Saying no because of what ifs is like taking law abiding citizens guns to prevent gun crimes!
  6. Of the 5 or 6 gun ships I have within 30 miles of me I bet 4 or 5 have whelen on the shelf. I don't consider dicks or Walmart a gun shop.
  7. I have a lone wolf, an Xstand and a ol'man Drone for climbers, the drone is the most comfortable by far but gets used the least. X stand is my favorite but it's noiser to climb with than the lone wolf neither are even close to as comfortable as the drone but both are fine for all day sits. Owned a summit years ago and hated it because every part of it rattled and squeaked maybe they have fixed it by now?
  8. 300 short mag is also another great option and they shoot very well out of short barrels! If your looking for the 20" tube I would highly recommend a 300wsm!
  9. For all those uses it is hard to beat a 30-06 I would stay away from the Rcm the cartridge will be extinct, fell way short of claims and even with hand loads it's very hard to get to shoot well "very sad as I love to cary mine" I would also add 35 whelen to your "short list" often over looked but one of the best all around North American cartridges!
  10. I don't want to sound like a Remington hater because I have some that I love such as the "7600" in my name and my 700's model 7's my 870's and 1100's but the last 3 new Remingtons I have bought all went back to Remington more than once and only 1 is fixed to this day. I had a 750 in 35whelen that will not feed a versa max that will not eject and a 887 that shot when you closed the slide. The 887 is the only one that was fixed because after the second trip back to union they sent my gun shop a new gun for me.The 750 my gun shop gave me full store credit on because after 3 trips to union it was never resolved and the versamax will only shoot heavy loads and is ok because it's a turkey gun but still an expensive gun to only be able to shoot heavy loads out of.
  11. Haha, ever dealt with remingtons customer "service"?
  12. With the plethora of bad reviews on modern Remington rifles why would you "stick with Remington and the model 700" there are manufactuers out there that still make great rifles for the same price as a 700 " ruger, browning ,tika" to name a few.
  13. After a run in with poachers years ago while I had a bow and 2 of them with rifles I no longer enter the woods without a sidearm! As we said in the service "better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6"
  14. Although I have a HATRED towards new Remington's because of other reasons. I have learned to deal with the bargain rifle craze. The day my brother showed up with a ruger American that he payed like 350$ish for and I was shooting my full custom shop model 7 "well over 3k with scope"and that little ruger out shot it with every kind of ammo I had and it had a 150$ redfield as to my Zeiss. It was that day that I realized times were changing he had about 1/10 in his gun than I did and his shot smaller groups, no the action isn't as clean and the magazine rattles and the trigger is not as nice but it still out shoots a rifle that costs 10x more $.
  15. I don't hunt state land but all my stands on my land are locked on with a bicycle lock. I guess someone could cut it if they really wanted but with the bike lock and taking my bottom 4 steps out I have never had one stolen.
  16. If you like seeing deer every outing the ADK's are not for you!
  17. In my experience I have seen it the other way, my biggest buck came from the adk's and he smelled me and came to see what I was "I was 8 miles from the road" I have had numerous deer smell me and come closer to try to figure me out up there. Around home a deer gets your scent and most of the time they are gone.
  18. You carry that thing around?? Or do you just leave it in a blind.
  19. It must be frustrating trying to fix other people's mistakes, from almost all your searches people have jumped the deer without giving them adequate time. That being said it sounds like you and Luna are doing a great job I wish you were closer to my area if I ever needed it.
  20. Old girlfriends yes! And all my hunting buddies are deaf but they mostly call me way worse names than stubby!
  21. My best one was when I got back from Iraq the first time and bought myself a Benelli R1 in 30-06 as a gift to myself, my wife already had it at the house so I went right out and shot it and hated the way it felt so I got a hacksaw and cut 4" off the barrel then it felt stock heavy so I drilled a couple of 2 1/2 holes with a hole saw in the buttstock sprayed some expanda foam in it laid some glass over the holes and now it's perfect! I most likely couldn't get 200$ for a 1400$ Gun if I wanted to sell it but it's perfect for me and isn't going anywhere! The look on my wife's face when she came down the stairs and seen my new 1400$ rifle in a vice and me with a saw to the barrel would have been worth it even if I didn't like it when I was done!
  22. Just make sure u roll in it before getting in your stand, there is no better cover scent. When I used to milk before hunting I would never change my clothes or wash my boots and I had deer sniff my boots while sitting on the ground.
