  1. Baby wipes kept in an inside pocket on cold days, a piss bottle and a spit bottle everything else is an accessory!
  2. Living in NC for 8 years and being able to Xbow hunt I got one as soon as I got there I killed ALOT of deer with it given the plethora of tags you get in eastern NC. Now that I'm back in NY I have not shot my Xbox in the 2 years I have been home! Not bragging or anything but I would be willing to bet I have more hunting experience than most if not all on here with a Xbow and in my experience the few advantages of a Xbow are not worth the drawbacks. I feel 100% more confident shooting a deer at 60 yds with my verticle bow than with a Xbow. Just my .02$ I am not at all against them they are just not for me. To say a Xbow is 100# better is just ludicrous of a picnic table in your back yard I can see where someone would get the idea.
  3. I haven't shot a power belt in 10 years but do they still load as HARD as the used to?
  4. Dan my advice is to stay away from the "remlins" the quality has dropped drastically! The old ones are great guns and they are easy to tell apart the good ones will have a JM stamp on the barrel near the receiver there are many good used ones on the market. Last year I was in a shop and they had two used JM stamped 336's in 35 rem I bought them both for 550$ "no they are not for sale"
  5. Well stay at it and don't give up yet! My guess would be brisket. Have you ever shot your bow at 5yds I bet it shoots a lot lower than you think.
  6. I have the ol' man drone and it's the best of the 10 I have owned! If you have a long hike it's hard to beat a lone wolf. I also really like my Xstand but as far as all day comfort and ease of use I don't think you can beat the drone.
  7. I guess a 410 slug would be like loading a 41rem with a 90gn bullet and pushing upwards of 1800fps doable yes, practical to deer not at all! If they were to load some in the 180gn range and slow them to 13 or 1400 fps it would just about be a perfect short range deer cartridge!
  8. Congrats on the first 1! In the future give them more time unless you see them fall I use 2 hrs as a minimum. My grand father always said "you will never jump a dead deer but I jumped dying deer will go a LONG ways"
  9. Walk a complete circle around the edge of the field and look at the branches not just the ground sometime a deer will leak all the blood and keep moving a ways but if it touches a branch it will still have blood on the fur.
  10. Hunterdan I have 2 of them rugers and I love them as well, they are such a sweet little gun! And they are getting very valuable!
  11. In all reality when loading for my 45colt and 44 rifles in asking a lot out of a "pistol" bullet so I do understand the Barnes "failing" when pushed to the extreme. In rifles I do not have a bad work to say about them.
  12. I love Barnes but I have learned you can push the too fast in pistol rounds but I love them in everything else!
  13. Oh yea I love short barrels and light rifles! I load the Barnes VOR-TX 180
  14. Oh yea it's loud! And has some muzzle flash but it's not as bad as some of the magnums. I also have a tika t3 that I re barreled to 35 whelen that's also cut to just over 16.5" It has a 2-7 ultralight leupold on it. I just finished that this summer so we will have to see how I like it in a month or so.
  15. My fav. "Brush" gun is my 7600 in 35 whelen that I cut the barrel to 16 and 9/16" it has a fixed 2.5 leupold and is extremely light and swings like a 870.
  16. I mainly gun hunt with a 10mm Glock which most would consider marginal at best as a deer cartridge. And I would not consider a 410. The problem is too small of a projectile traveling too slow Will it kill a deer? absolutely but it will have a very small margin for error.
  17. You are talking two extremes, how about not properly filling out a tag and rolling through a stop sign. Both "minor" infractions but still infractions, and both should be published.
  18. What's the difference you broke the law either way?
  19. That's my whole point, I think if hunting violations are publicized so should traffic violations!
  20. If they "own" them or not the state still "manages" the deer.
  21. Big difference the state "owns" the deer so them telling me how and how many deer I can kill is completely different than them telling me what I have to wear on MY land!
  22. Honestly I wouldn't either but I feel if one form of illegal activity is published so should all, clearly the state sees using a cell phone while driving a bigger problem than shooting a deer after legal hrs because the fine is double.
  23. I only wear it on public land in SZ. I don't wear it on my land nor do I in the ADKS
  24. If it was mandated on public land only then I would be on board but for a statewide law no way! I will not be told what to wear on MY land period.
  25. I think they should publish something like this for all traffic violations, a speeding ticket is no different than a ticket for shooting after sunset.
