How many of the NY gun kills are in the first week that would be the biggest question .I know both in northern zone and southern zone I hear more shots on the first 2 days than I hear the rest of the year combined and I am in the woods everyday.

Comparing legal shooting time to driving the speed limit
Buckmaster7600 replied to regulat0r's topic in General Hunting
It is not LEGAL to go over the speed limit to pass. If you go 1mph over the speed limit you are just as much of an outlaw as someone that shoots a deer 15minutes after the arbitrary number set by this Nanny state known as legal shooting hours. -
My optima has the new breach plug and I still drilled it out instead of buying the special one and it shoots perfect only powder I will use for a long time. Just make sure you use a hot primer I have had great luck with rio's

My triumph started having the "wiggles" after about 250 shots, although I don't like it it's my most accurate muzzeloader.
-
I don't see how it could effect accuracy. Scope is mounted to the barrel.
-
I completely disagree let's use Ohio as an example there is a total of 11 days of gun season including late muzzeloader "excluding 2 day doe only muzzeloader" they are of the best managed states not only for quality but also for herd size.
-
No mine wiggles closed. I have never noticed it open.

Yes go all the way tight the back a tiny bit and it snugs right up. I will never buy a TC again they told me they have fixed it 3 times. Its a spare to my spare and doesn't get shot much and after getting it I have hated the fat grip.
-
My triumph had the wiggles as well, after 3 trips back to TC and it not being fixed I have found that screwing out the breech plug the slightest bit fixes it.

I have a range I'm my back yard so I shoot all the time, I have had my CVA optima for a little over a year and have ran over 6 pounds of blackthorn through it. It's one of my favorite guns to shoot the steel targets with. I guess that's why it's hard for me to understand why anyone would only shoot 2 or 3 shots a year including hunting.

I don't know how you guys can have a box of pellets for years, I must shoot too much.
-
Are you brushing it in? I have that this makes a huge difference.

Wow rob, pretty big of you to call the man a liar. I would have to assume the OP didn't make up the story just to start a thread. 2 years ago I shot a buck at about 60yds with a 30-06 with a 165 ballistic silver tip through both longs and the top of the heart as he was trailing a doe, he stopped shook put his nose back down and went back to chasing the doe at a trot. I shot him againg through both front shoulders and he fell. In Afghanistan in 09 my best friend was beside me when he got shot through the thigh as we were moving to cover he never knew he was shot until over a minute later when his sock started getting wet. There are countless police reports of bad guys being shot multiple time without showing any signs of being injured. Every animal or human will react differently to being shot unless the central nervous system is hit.

If I have that stuff in the house i shoot it so I can only say from experience that it lasts a few months.

I personally have never understood why bore sighting is so common. I have never seen a scoped rifle that would not hit a pizza box a 25 yds. Once you dial it in there move the target out. I guess if your buying a scope and they will do it for free then why not but I don't see it worth paying to have it done.

When you have that many mature bucks in one area they will often push the does out. I have seen this on my lease in Ohio for the last 4 years. It's amazing but the bachelor groups seem to push all the does out and bring them back to breed."like a bachelor pad"

Would You Support a Blaze Orange Compromise?
Buckmaster7600 replied to wildcat junkie's topic in Deer Hunting
Wildcat- I personally would love to see all muzzeloader done away done away with and only have a 1 week gun season but that isn't a popular view. My problem with the late Muzz season is that every doe shot is bred so with every doe killed you are actually taking 2 or 3 deer. -

Well folks it seems that some of us do not wear Orange and some do. Choices Are what makes this country great why would anyone want to give that up for a law? -

CULVER -In NZ it would make a minimal difference because we don't have dmp's now and I would love to see late muzzleloader season done away with anyways. -

Wildcat- to play Devils advocate if a "hunter" is knowingly breaking a law "trespassing " who says they would follow a blaze orange law? -

Buckmaster7600 replied to wildcat junkie's topic in Deer Hunting
If we really want gun hunting to be safer all they have to do is do away with doe permits during gun season. The woods are exponentially safer when you take the brown is down out of the game! Just look at the accident numbers for NZ compared to SZ. Then the half hr law would be a no brainer. "Well maybe not for are law makers but..." -

I don't wear blaze orange when I'm on MY property for the same reason I refuse to lock the doors of MY house, it's mine. -

NY should change to 30min before and after sunset in NZ during regular season! As for the Orange no way the last thing we need is another requirement and I do not and will not wear orange on my own property! -
My triumph loves 209 now, I drilled out the breach plug and use Rio primers it shoots every bullet I have tried most will group 5 shots around 2.5" @100yds abd that's starting with a clean barrel and not touching it between shots.

I had 2 main drives to get into it , I love bow hunting but I will not carry a bow during gun season and I kept buying rifles that were lighter and lighter and still not being happy with them. My 36oz loaded glock 20 is just perfect for hiking 15 miles a day in the ADKS.
