Crossbows proposed in all seasons 2021
Buckmaster7600 replied to DoubleDose's topic in New York State Hunting News
What is harder? Unless you have an injury or disability? There’s a peep, sight, mechanical release, 80+% let off, the easiest drawing bows in history, the fastest shooting bows in history, the list can go on. Modern archery is anything but hard, the hardest part is getting within range, the effective range difference between a crossbow and a compound isn’t enough to make a difference. Crossbows proposed in all seasons 2021

Again, I’m against full inclusion! Bow hunting is not hard. The average guy can pick up a modern compound the week before season and within 30-50 arrows be able to kill a deer a 30yds. How is that in anyway hard? The extra 20-40 arrows that it would take to get the same proficiency as a Xbox? What’s that 5-10 minutes difference? Not having to draw is an advantage but proper stand placement or ground blinds level that advantage. Unless your shooting a trad bow I don’t see your point at all. I’ve killed way more than my share of deer with a vertical bow and I’ve probably killed more deer with a crossbow than anyone on this site because I lived down south. The reason I’m against full inclusion is because I love the way the seasons are now. I love hunting with a vertical bow, the last couple years I’ve hunted with a long bow. I look forward to crossbow season, I still carry my long bow sometimes but also enjoy using the Xbox’s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk in -

I don’t want full inclusion either but you sound like a complete idiot! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Only if the weak follow. The safe act was a perfect example of the lack of cooperation of gun owning Americans. Less than 20,000 of the estimated 5-10million “assault rifles” were registered when it became mandatory in New York. Don’t think for a minute the left wasn’t paying attention to that on a National scale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You bring up some great points. I’ll start by saying that carrying a weapon daily is a very personal choice. It’s not for everyone and shouldn’t be taken lightly. If you’re going to carry concealed I can’t recommend getting formal training enough! Good training isn’t cheap but is worth every penny. I’m certified to teach multiple nra pistol courses as well as concealed carry classes in a few states. I also did 4 combat deployments as an infantryman. I carry all day everyday except at work. Although I’ve never been in a mass shooting scenario I feel I have a pretty good guess as to how I will react. Personally I’m not a hero and have no plans on ever being one. I carry for me and mine’s safety not for anyone else’s. If I’m ever in such a scenario I’m getting the hell out of dodge. That will not always be possible and if I need to I will defend myself but only if I’m/mine are in immediate danger. I will never go looking for bad guy/guys “if everyone involved that was carrying had this mindset other armed citizens as well as the police would have nothing to worry about as far as friendly fire.” If others cared about their lives and the lives of their families the way I do they would also have the training and the means of protecting themselves that’s not my problem or responsibility to protect them. Onto the identifying bad guy bit proper training will help. There is identifiers for bad guys, as well as simple control and staying calm will help as well. Shoot no shoot drills carry over very well in the real world. This type of training has gotten very good real world feedback in the last 15 years do to the current conflicts our military is in where we are fighting enemies that don’t wear a uniform. I did some more patterning again today and it definitely warranted an optic. I had this vortex crossfire laying around, I never liked it on any of my other guns because it sits too high but with the supplied shims it works perfectly on this gun. It’s shooting some awesome patterns but the wind picked up before I could really dial it in. So far I think it will be shooting the new heavy weight 7’s by Boss, it’s the same load as my all time favorite but discontinued federal heavyweight. If the wind dies down tomorrow I’ll post a picture of the pattern. If this works as well as it’s looking I’ll buy a case from boss and won’t have to worry about them discontinuing it like federal did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have found the best results on remingtons. The 11-87’s, 1100’s, 870’s as well as the 760 and 7600 rifles all use basically the same trigger design. The spring change on those not only lightens the pull but cleans up the trigger pull very nicely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just received the spring for me new SA-20 and it took 4lbs off the trigger pull. I use https://www.mcarbo.com for all my trigger spring needs and have never been disappointed. With modern choke and shell combos a good trigger has never been more important on a turkey gun. My new sa-20 came with a 7lb 4oz trigger 12$ and two minutes of work and it’s now 3lbs 6oz. It was to my house in 2 days after ordering. I don’t have any connection with the company but I’ve probably used their springs on over 20 guns and have never been disappointed. It came with some stupid fiber optic circle and fiber optic post. With the circle off my poi is low left with both chokes. I have to get some bigger pieces of cardboard to see if the patterns are worth putting an optic on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Test day! I have 2 chokes to try, the factory choke and a Carlson full that I used on my franchi. I really hope I can get it to pattern a nice open 25yd pattern with the 3rd degree or the tss 7’s. I didn’t realize I had 5 boxes of each still. They pattern way to tight in all my other 20’s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh it’s a lot more than 5, that’s just semi 20’s. I’ll probably quit buying them when I find the perfect one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Walked in a lgs and for couple thousand pistol primers he had for me and this was on the shelf. I held it and bought it. It’s a mossberg sa-20 turkey, 20ga 22” barrel. This makes my 4th semi 20ga turkey gun with number 5 on the way. I’ll have to wait until some chokes get here to test her out but shot 25 clays in the yard and it cycled perfect. It’s got a pretty nice trigger. Weighs 5lbs 3oz on my scale, that’s what sold me on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2 Bottom Plow users

Depends on your ground? Is your tractor 4wd? What kind of tires are on it? Around here you’d do it but not fast. I have a 45hp 4wd Deere and have a 2 and a 3 bottom for it. If I’m in sod I use the 2 bottom if it’s been rolled before I use the 3 bottom. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Lived down there almost 9 years saw bunches of snakes. Never had snake boots just rubber lacrosses. Your outfitter will recommend them and your guide will be wearing sneakers or crocks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I use the term speed bead like Kleenex the mount between the stock and receiver when built correctly is the best way to mount a small optic. As for Burris products, count me out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Burris lost me as a customer years ago over some awful c/s but the speed bead is about the best mount available. Luckily other companies have copied their design for other brand optics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
