    I’m not following? PA is a lot like NY better politics. Lots of public land but fishing ops suck except trout mostly. Also land prices are higher than where I live but that’s relative. Some areas of NY are higher. WI and MN? Hell they are both colder than here by far lol!! And the whole state of Ohio ain’t got a hill bigger than mole hills in my lawn. And OH and PA ain’t south lol.     Back in the far stand. Saw canine tracks the whole way. I’ve got new neighbors who can’t seem to keep their dogs home. Or their kid for that matter. I’ve had both on cam this season already and it’s getting old quick. I hate people sometimes! Been trying to see if they get their shit together but I guess we need to chat.     What makes him cool about that though is in later shows he does not hide the fact that he was a dumb ass lol! I enjoy his shows and books and he would be someone I would enjoy to hunt with or share a beer or coffee.

    Well after 10-12 inches of snow in the last 36 hours it’s condensed down to 3-4 inches now. Crazy, when I got up yesterday there was around 8 fresh inches of snow. It snowed all day and after a while the more it snowed the lower the depth got lol. Such heavy wet snow and all. This morning was a quiet sneak into the deep Hole stand. Only two sets fresh tracks and most of the snow is off the trees. Looking for a plump doe! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Grew up doing some cool deer drives on big old Adirondack hunting camps. 10-20 guys. Old timers planning it out like a chess game, like battle or war! You had to earn a spot as a trusted driver. It could take seasons to earn trusted roles. Some of these drives would take a couple hours and had great names like the "Meat Drive" , "Dead Man's Push" and "The Battery Drive". Man brings up fine memories. There was no unsafe actions ever or you were never invited again. Now a days we get 2 to 5 of us and may work fresh tracks, loops to each other, slow strolls. More still hunting than driving. Mostly on state land. We may push a quality private piece or two the last week if we are hungry! I did run into a group of 20 guys driving right through my watch on state land last week. They did more shooting than hitting but they had deer moving.

    You guys have hit my key points. This states politics and taxes just plain suck. Winter as I get older gets a bit much as well. From Jan 1 to April 1 It's a freakin dead time. Small game seasons are open but truthfully the snow is usually too deep to bother. I also do not ski, snowmobile or ice fish. That said this is one freaking beautiful state! We are bordering the biggest fresh water source in the world, that becomes more important all the time. We also have a very limited chance of any natural disasters. The hunting and fishing opportunities are unparalleled. Yes some state have bigger game or better this or that but not the available species and public land together. We have for the most part great schools and colleges. And the cost of land and houses upstate is still some of the best in the country. There are all trade offs. My family is predominately here and I have lived here 50 plus years. Its home lol. That said Tennessee, Kentucky and Carolinas have all caught my eye. I kinda like the idea of spending a few months south after I retire.

    Yea I looked out side at 5am and said nope. Got into work early to try to get out this afternoon. I haven't measured it but 8-10 inches and still coming. It's wet heavy stuff. It is so stuck to the trees you can't see 5 feet lol.

    That just means he will be bigger next time!!! On that note though. A couple years ago I was hunting a certain big 10/11 pointer. Never showed himself in daylight. The one morning I was not in stand after him as my Mom needed help moving that suka walked right past my stand at 8am plain as day. Never got a pic of him in daylight again and after that winter never got a pic of him again..... Alright TF, Moog flipped me. Get the heck back out there!!! JK!!

    You hit a good point. The season is so long now from 10/1 through 12/18. I find myself hunting every available second as I want to not miss any of it. Then I'm like why am I not in bed, why am I sitting in the rain......Not enjoying it like I used to. A break is not a bad thing!! Recharge the batteries so to speak.

    The rain is starting to show a couple flakes in it. We are supposed to get a good storm through tomorrow. If all this rain the last 36 hours woulda been snow we’d be pretty deep in it lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Sunday morning I hunted the far stand out behind the house. Still 4 inches of snow or so and a bit warmer out. About 7:10 I see a lone deer headed towards me and grab the binos. I see some antler but only one and not too big. The deer looks good size though and I’ve convinced myself it’s a 2.5 yo and needs to be in my freezer lol. He closes the distance to about 40 yards and turns a little, I got the crosshairs of the TV Triumph set. I grunt and he stops perfect. Boom and the smoke clears and he is doing the broken shoulder death run about 60 yards and goes down. Left a 2-3 foot wide red spray paint trail the whole way. Weighed just a shade over 140 dressed on the scales. I sat for a couple more hours and saw 4 more deer up off the property and the neighbors were doing quite a bit of shooting so I think they got three different shot oops I heard.     We hunted quite a bit over the first week. My brother took a wolc special on a cold hungry morning. My BIL has been moving deer around but not caught up to any good shots. I’ve been seeing some deer. A couple too far out of the tower one day and one too thick in the brush outa the Hole stand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
