  1. I wish you the best on your closing, LET EM GROW. Hope you can make it.
  2. I took a few packages of Zweigles to a buffalo grill party and claimed they were the best. Caught a lot of flak for that. I can appreciate the Sahlen's dogs, but in the end even the Zweigle's naysayers were converts and these were hard-core Sahlens supporters. Just d***ed good dogs.
  3. They're both good, but I'll pick a pack of Zweigle's any day. JMHO.
  4. I know the owner of Parker's and have done a lot of construction work for him. I think he'd hook us up with at least some favorable seating. Maybe commandeering the deck if the weather is nice. ;-) Casual atmosphere with good burgers, excellent wings, and other bar-type food. ( I don't think they have Berbere wings) I'm open to other ideas though.
  5. Thanks for the responses, folks. I'm thinking Sunday (July 29th) about dinner time in downtown Geneva. This is already a "done deal".
  6. Looking for any possible interest in a GTG (get-together) in the Geneva area somewhere around July 29th. Just a meet-n-greet kind of thing for HNY'ers for dinner and drinks. Bring your fishing boat and make a day of it. ;-) 2012Taco will be in the area and is in, as am I. Anybody else?
  7. I don't mean to hijack the "goat" thread here, but maybe a few CNY'ers would be interested in something like Parker's Grille and Taphouse in Geneva while you're at Sampson. Anyone who's interested, PM me.
  8. I'm not talking about 'passing out', I'm talking about avoiding a two hour drive home on a full belly and a few beers. Also my dashboard lights don't work and my night vision is not so good. I appreciate the humor, but you'll be here some day.
  9. Can I camp in their parking lot? ;-) I'll confess, I have no self control when it comes to wings or beer.
  10. Spent Father's Day with the family. Most of the family, anyway. My brother showed up with 1 1/2" thick NY strip steaks for the grill. Sorry, no pics. We ate very well and talked and laughed for several hours, mostly poking fun at each other, of course. We also planned for my Mom's upcoming 80th birthday party. She doesn't want to do "anything special", of course, but we will do something special, and I will have the camera with me. I just have to convince Wooly to let me borrow a shorter lens than my telephoto for the family pics. Consider yourself warned, Wooly. ;-)
  11. I really like the "tub full of firewood in the snow" reference. That is a real workout. That's why my stacks are uphill from the front door. I just have to avoid being run over when bringing in firewood. Congratulations to both your daughter and to you.
  12. Great to hear, Larry!! I have a cousin who is dealing with ovarian cancer that's spread. The doctors gave up hope months ago and wanted to stop all treatment. She's currently doing pretty well because she's tough and she will never give up. All the best to your friend.
  13. I'm not sure you're ever going to hit with any consistency at 1000 yards using any factory ammo. But if it's fun, give it a go. Why not. After hitting woodchucks at about 500 yards with rifles I got into long-range pistols and have connected at close to 300 yards on several occasions. Saves on walking, and the skills are basically the same. I don't mean to lecture here, but when you get out to 1000 yards it's about skill in the field and skill at the reloading bench. If there isn't a combination of both, you're not likely to hit very often. Ring the gong, baby!
  14. It's fun to see the top guys challenged. A NASCAR race that starts in daylight in the afternoon and ends at night with a cool track and artificial lighting. A football game where the lines on the field aren't visible because of snow. A baseball game where the team manicurist is kept out of the dugout... I just had to include the baseball reference. Sorry. Representative Steve Scalise will be at second base tonight for the yearly Congressional baseball game at Nationals Field, one year to the day after almost dying in the shooting at their practice. He still walks with a crutch, but vows that he can throw to first base if he doesn't have to move laterally to pick up the ball. The guys got heart.
  15. From what I understand it's a tough course to begin with. Throw in 25-30 MPH winds and it rattles even the best. It's an even playing field though. They all play in mostly the same conditions. I think FS1 is live-streaming it for free, so I might have to watch a bit, even though I haven't played since Reagan was President. ;-]
  16. Depends on how much cheese you put in your omelette. ;-]
  17. There really isn't much difference between a calzone and an omelette. Just sayin'.
  18. Some people can't resist the urge to take the top off a crockpot every few minutes. That's when things get dried out because a lot of moisture escapes. It's like opening the smoker door every few minutes and wondering why the food isn't cooking.
  19. You took to that pretty quickly!! Very nice work!! Check out arboristsite.com at some point. It's mostly tree work and chainsaws but there's a whole section on carving, sculpture, and turning.
  20. I pretty much always disagreed with the guy's opinions, but it takes something special to pen such a personal and heartfelt farewell letter to his friends and readers. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-note-to-readers/2018/06/08/3512010c-6b24-11e8-bea7-c8eb28bc52b1_story.html?noredirect=on
  21. People have to always remember that suicide is a permanent solution to what is more than likely a temporary problem. Especially the younger folks with their whole lives ahead of them.
