  1. Honestly at first I was a little turned off about the policy then after thinking about it makes sense for both parties. The taxidermists is paid up and doesn’t have chase the money hound people to come in and pay and the customer has work being completed in a timely manner with a definite date. The best thing you can do if you want your work done both timely and professionally is take to someone who this is a full time occupation for them. It’s their profession and livelihood and as such have an incentive to get it completed.
  2. If you do decide to do it full time and you focus is just on whitetails a little bit of policy advice for your contract. Take a deposit of 30 percent with remained due two week before you start the mount. Don’t start the mount till it’s paid up. Otherwise you going to be spending your time chasing down money more then doing taxidermy work. It’s not a big deal when your doing a handful of deer a year. However you start doing 50 plus a year and becomes a problem.
  3. I didn’t do any deer this past year, but I did do a pair of caribou should mounts, they were 1000 each. I also did two whitetail euros at 175 each and caribou euro at 325. Stuff adds up quick
  4. No DMPS for me this year in 4s
  5. Preserving archery season is something worthwhile. If your a bow hunter you’d understand that. If your not a bow hunter than you have the same opportunity as everyone else to experience it if you took the time and effort to experience it. The elephant in the room is that Archery season is open to anyone that wants to participate. All they need is a bow hunters safety card and bow. That doesn’t sound all that elitist to me. There is already a season for hunter as a whole. It’s called the regular reason. We aren’t undermining that in the least. Maybe some self introspection on your part is needed, because it’s sounds like your one trying impose your views on others.
  6. Don’t flatter yourself buddy, you have no idea what type of guy I am. The fact that you can’t discern that person or group of people can be principled without being selfish speaks more about you than me.
  7. I ordered mine, didn’t get a DMP, didn’t apply for a landowner DMP either…assuming it’s coming in the mail I been down on the shore the last two weeks. Not even sure I will have time to hunt in NY this year..
  8. Getting ready to by a new one myself, most likely going to pick up 2022 Tundra when they come out
  9. I am not a fan on ladder stands for bow hunting in NY, I feel like there is bit too much pressure and are too visible. I seen too many deer skirt the stands and even have pictures of them doing it. That said we have ladder stands in KS on our leases and deer are oblivious to them. We have about 40 stands, several brands …for us the stand has to have platform that goes all the way to tree, it has to have flip up seat , it has to be 18 feet or more to the platform. We take all the rails off the stands because we only bowhunt. Last batch we bought 10 millennium stands, the single seat version. They are best I used so far and pretty much all we by in the future. In fact I am going to some for the farm we hunt in Iowa.
  10. Sept is going to be a busy month but I been looking forward to it all year. Now that boarder opened my schedule got really full
  11. You missed a hell of a picnic. I have more land to hunt on then most people, and I am pretty generous with access. So if it was all about me I could insulate myself pretty well. But that’s the thing…it not about me. It’s about bow hunting and what’s left of NYS archery season. Bow hunting is worth protecting, it’s worth preserving the experience and it’s worth promoting. So if other hunters chose to Bowhunt they can experience same opportunity’s we had. hopefully all the future bow hunters out there that will get to experience what we where luckily enough to experience. Not some watered down, dumbed down diluted form of it.
  12. Not insecure enough to need a cross gun during the Archery season. Let me guess your shoulder hurts ….
  13. Because WE, a group of us actually get off our asses, coordinate together so WE can advocate for what WE believe in.
  14. Don’t worry we will be making sure the new governor understands why crossguns don’t belong in our archery season.
  15. We we getting some really nice bucks on our cams, wish I had a tag and was hunting the farm this year
  16. Where are you located, you can use mine for free. Seriously, an arrow saw with the proper blade and rpms between 5k and 8k is cheap considering the price of shafts. If you only cutting a dozen every handful of years then it doesn’t make sense to own a saw at all …order them cut.
  17. Just buy a freaking arrow saw..your talking about a stinking 100 bucks for something you will have for life.
  18. Slick trick viper tricks, QAD exodus, Solids, Ironwills,
  19. Eating good down at the shore house today
  20. Seems strange being as wet as it’s been. That said it’s hit our Iowa farm multiple years in a row
  21. Thank you, I need all the luck I can get
  22. Yea I haven’t picked up a rifle in years, it doesn’t even enter my mind any more. I stay with my bow until I succeed.
