Lots of deer out here after the storm. Field edges are the ticket tonight.. -
Use something that has some think that holds up. Scent is a non issue. Think white lithium grease or regular grease you’d use in a fitting

LIVE From The Woods 2021 Stories And Pictures Let's Have Em!

Pulling an unprepared all day sit in CT, should have brought another layer of cloths, some food and something to drink. A battery pack for my phone would have been smart too …I can stand to loose a few pounds anyway. Slow day so far one six point and one unknown deer so far. Hopefully it picks up -
Correct One antlered deer per hunting license year
-
One buck state and what a two week gun season. No comparison

Crossgun is exactly what it is… let me guess your shoulder hurts …

Sucks in 4s and 4R

Bury your head where the sun doesn’t shine all you want, however cross guns are a perfect example of an increase in hunter efficacy, along with the other examples that I and others have mentioned above. Increase efficacy and participation while trying maintaining the resource and you have to find balance someplace. The only place is limiting opportunities or allowing the resource to decrease and decline. That’s exactly what we seen with NYs true key population and in other states turkey’s populations. Unfortunately we are as always behind the curve.

Too much hunting pressure on a limited resource with an increase in efficacy of the hunters. You will see the same thing with deer, cross-guns that 8 years olds can kill with in 15 minutes of picking them up , 200 yard muzzle loaders and rifles in every county. Won’t be long till your drawing tags like out west. Hunters made their bed, and now they can sleep in it

My father in law found 2 more dead in the last week in the creek that runs though his Stockport property , he is over 20 since September.

Depends and you can more then fart in the stand

Why not lay off the few living deer if EHD has hit your area and help the population rebound a bit.

I wil count out of state buck tags because in NY and CT I have too many deer to count and remember. Afternoon bow hunts have been better for me.For example. KS, 5 bucks and four were in the afternoon. Iowa, 3 bucks. two in the afternoon one in the morning. Ohio 5 bucks and four were afternoon. KY, 1 morning Texas, 4 morning, 2 afternoon Total Morning 8 Afternoon 12 That’s closer than that thought before I counted. I would guess that in NY and CT a the count will be fairly close as well. I bet I am closer to 50/50 and I would have sworn i killed way more in afternoon.

Getting good movement in NY and better movement in CT the past two days more Mature bucks moving during daylight

I am the opposite, I have zero desire to hunt with a firearm and haven’t in the past 15 years. and honestly before that when I would occasionally take out the rifle I got hardly any satisfaction from it, despite my success. I started bowhunting in 1990 when I turned 14 and was lucky enough to harvest a buck. I was hooked before that string dropped. I Made my first trip out west in the 1995 with my bow and killed an elk, and haven’t missed a year traveling someplace yet. The last ten years or so I leave for out of state bow hunt the day before our gun season just to get out of here and not deal with any of it. My properties go unhunted except for the trespassing slobs that wander though every year and show up on my cams. The best buck I ever saw, including hunting in some of the best whitetail states was on our lease In Ohio. It was during the MZ season in jan and I was bowhunting, the buck came out into cut corn field and was out there feeding. That night my buddy said take out my MZ he will probably come back out tomorrow night, I declined and went back out with the bow. Sure enough he showed up and was too far for a shot but would have been in easy MZ loader range. I never regretted it at all and am thankful I had the opportunities that’s I have had. Hopefully I can keep on making memories.

I been to NL three times and am booked again for next year. Personally I would steer clear of any drive in camps, if you can drive in then there will be local pressure and road hunting which is pretty much the norm in NL. Some outfitters may have both camps. I would fly in for sure and your outfitter hunts on foot/boat. I would also stay clear of the western Peninsula as most populations are down in that area. -
On one property we aren’t shooting any deer this year, doe or buck hoping to carry over the couple bucks that are remaining. On my house property there is too much indiscriminate hunting pressure in the area, both locals and traveling hunters will fill any tag they or their wife has …. So I am laying off does at home. I may at some point however fill my antler-less tag on my mountain top property because there are no DMPs issued and thankfully with ARs it forces hunters to be somewhat selective. I do plan on fill my three CT antlerless tags because they are over run with deer in that area.

All for couple beers or better still a few fingers of single malt after a good days hunt. After is the key word.
-
Your will have more room, more deer and less pressure in the finger lakes NF

For the most part I think non hunting people don’t give hunting much thought at all. And when hunting is presented to them in a respectable thoughtful manner it’s mostly very well received and people are curious about it. Food opens a lot of minds to hunting. We do ourselves more harm then good when we stereotype people based on where they live verses what they really think or feel.
