  1. This year was a wash for me. After suffering from a fall at work during the third week of October, I’ve been out of the game. I have 4 broken ribs and a compression fracture on one of my vertebrae. On top of that, I also got a pretty good concussion as well as injuries to my neck and chest as well. I’ve been dying to get out, but health comes first and I’ve been trying to get plenty of rest. I’m just thankful that it wasn’t worse, and I’ll be able to hunt again in the future. From what the doctors tell me, I was very lucky. Our season goes until the end of January, so we are almost at the halfway point. Hopefully I will continue to improve and I’ll be able to get a few sits in at some point before the season is over.
  2. I’ve seen them advertised as a Cocoon Fan if you want to google it.
  3. I just got a pic of a double drop tine 10 that I’ve never seen before. I think it’s time to suck up the pain and drag my ass out there.
  4. I still haven’t been out lately, as I’m still recuperating. But it does appear as though we are in lockdown here on the island. Cam activity has dropped way off the last few days, but I am still getting some pics of bucks cruising especially during mid day. Hopefully I’ll be able to drag my ass out there soon. It’s starting to look like opening day with the gun is questionable for me now, but we’ll see. Going to just take it day by day.
  5. Been up since 3 in pain. It’s killing me seeing some of the pics that I was getting last night near my stands. One big 9 and an 8 with 2 kickers. Hope they stick around. Going to try and change my Dr’s appointment to today so that I can get some more meds. I can actually feel my rib moving back and forth on my back. Not good at all. I don’t see myself getting out anytime in the near future. Good luck to all today. Knock down some big ones.
  6. Good luck to everyone today. Halloween has always been a special day for me, but unfortunately I’m still not up to getting out. Crossing my fingers that my health improves and hopefully get out one day this week. Hoping to see some big boys hitting the dirt today.
  7. I have had my share of disc injuries as well. Those are not pleasant at all! At least with the ribs, the hardest part is getting in and out of the ground blind. The blind has been my go to spot the last few years. I figured that if I’m going to be sitting around resting, I might as well do it in a blind. I still might try to get out later today. We’ll see.
  8. I’m getting a lot of pics of one of my target bucks in the last 24 hours so I went outside to see if I could draw my bow and shoot. No problem there, but moving around sure can aggravate the broken ribs on my left side. Time for a nap with some pain killers. Hopefully I’ll be able to get out there soon. This is killing me...
  9. Well it ended for me as fast as it started. I finally got out this past weekend for 2 afternoon hunts. Saturday was a little better for me as I passed on 2 young bucks. However, due to an equipment failure at work Monday morning, I had to get medi-vacced to the hospital with a couple of broken ribs and some internal bleeding. I’m home now, but everything is a very slow go for me at his point. I’ll be watching from the sidelines and hopefully will be able to get out in the next few weeks. Good luck to everyone that will be getting out. After this rain passes, I think we should be in for some really good hunts.
  10. It seems like a switch has been flipped here the last 2 days with a lot of new bucks suddenly on their feet. I’ve been patiently waiting to start putting some time in. Maybe tomorrow night if the wind shifts in time, or else I’ll be out this weekend.
  11. Next time tell her it’s for your rifle. Actually it might be a state law as you’re not allowed to buy pistol ammo without a pistol permit, unless you’re using it for a rifle. I can’t tell you how many times that I was asked that when buying 9mm ammo.
  12. They no longer make any hunting ammunition. http://www.litfld.com/products/hunting/
  13. No longer available. Please close or delete. @WNYBuckHunter
  14. This was done by Fins and Feathers. This was done by Danny at Fish and Wildlife Unlimited. You get what you pay for...
  15. I have a .223 Wylde AR that I’m looking to sell. It has a complete upper that was purchased from PSA. It has a 18” SS barrel, 1/7 twist. 15” M-lok handguard, and MBUS sights. I also have installed a LaRue 2 stage trigger and an AR MAG Lock with Kingpin. 5 10 round mags are also included. The lower is a brand new Anderson lower that I just swapped out. I couldn’t part with my Trump Punisher lower. Lol. I have only shot 40 rounds in this gun at the range, and have decided to concentrate on a different caliber. I also have 960 rounds of .223 that I will sell with the gun if wanted. Mostly Fiocchi and Federal. All brass. Ammo comes with 1 steel ammo can. I won’t sell the ammo separately unless the gun sells first. I prefer to sell face to face. Not looking to ship at this time. Located on Long Island, but will be heading to Ithaca in a few weeks if that helps. $1400 for everything or $800 for just the gun and mags.
  16. I’m starting to hear that it’s becoming pretty widespread around here. Have you seen any in your spots Steve? @bruno1
  17. Danny at Fish and Wildlife Unlimited has done all of my deer, and I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again. He does awesome work and always gets it down pretty quick.
  18. I took a quick walk today and found 3 more dead.
  19. Try using DuckDuckGo as a browser. I don’t see any ads on this site or others that I frequent. If I use any other browser, I see ads on just about every site that I visit.
