  1. There were elk on the Whitney Park in the ADKS back in the 30s and 40s. The harsh winters killed them off though.
  2. I use a turkey diaphram and cluck on my way to the tree- my grandad taught me that one.
  3. I come up with 174 gross. Very symetrical- including his flyers. Dang- what a cool buck. I hope you get him or at least get to see him!
  4. Hey- no sweat... well I guess I did sweat a little..
  5. 100% certainty that it is a gray fox. Look at the vertical black bars on the muzzle- only gray foxes have this- not red foxes or coyotes. The tail isn't bushy because its August.
  6. Ok- Sorry if this is long, but here is what I came up with:
  7. Back to the first buck- I counted 15-16 points. He doesn't even look all that old- maybe 4? Hujungus! The 2nd buck is a hard sell at 155 and @ 2 yrs old. I'd say 3 yrs old and 140 is more like it.
  8. Interesting- there are lymphnodes in the flank where that "injury" is. The deer could also have something like cancer or an infection somewhere else in the body. We see that happen with the cows. The deer looks fine otherwise though. I also wonder if the deer truly is a buck? Maybe a hermaphrodite or antlered doe.
  9. $20+/ acre is a lot of money either giving or receiving. What are leases in the midwest?
  10. When I got home from work yesterday my Web was waiting for me. So far I am impressed. It is heavier than my Tree Saddle but 100 times more comfortable. I haven't tried to climb a tree with it but I will shortly and will make the promised video.
  11. thats a mature buck right there
  12. What- are you rationing these pictures out? Thats a solid one too- almost looks like a 2nd browtine on the right side between the 1+2. I remember a guy named the 1st name of Sam (same as me, thats why I remember) in Warsaw that killed a really big buck around 2004-5? There was a picture in Outdoor Life or some other hunting mag.
  13. I'm a sucker for big brows. What a group of bucks!
  14. The winter wheat did exactly what it was programmed to do then. Sounds like you got a bag of unpure seed.
  15. Wdwstr- winter wheat and winter rye shouldn't be planted until the fall. It goes into the winter about 6" tall and finishes growing the following spring. Harvest is usually in july when the seed has matured and the foliage is dead and brown...
  16. The stepp ladder seems solid but the sheer amount of metal is a problem for me. Somewhere earlier in this thread i posted a link for Climb paws- they may be a better option but i have tried neither.
  17. Maybe its already been posted, but it appears Cayuga County is good to go for rifle during gun season this year... http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S6801-2011 and http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/35010.html
  18. Phade- I never have moved around the tree like a monkey like that guy in the video. I usually just move slowly side to side or turn around like Cummins described. I'm telling you- the capabilities of this style of "stand" will up the ante'.
  19. hard to tell where that little sticker originates. Next time could you have him look straight at the camera?
