Many have shot slugs through a vent r in barrel. Myself included. Any barrel I have seen with a vent Rob was always a shot barrel with Choking of kind and beads in a fixed position. No real need to adjust sights when using shot. Slugs can be used affect through a vent rib barrel but to be accurate you need to adjust your point of aim. Slug barrel is straight no choking and has adjustable sights. No need to adjust point of aim to be accurate just move sights until you are hitting where you want. I have always called and heard others call vent rib barrels bird or shot barrel. The vent rib barrel will always be better for shot then for slugs. However both can be shot .

Think of the rib as a string between beads. Actually helps you get on target faster. Look at one bead fallow string ( rib) to next bead. Your eye will automatically follow the line of the rib between beads helping you to line them up faster. At least that is what I know of it. Could be bs but I know for me it works that way.

I'm lucky that the kids always copied mom or gramma instead of dad. The kids have always been harder on me then adults. Even from very young the always yelled at me for eating all that bad food and have always eaten better then me. Someday it will catch up to me butt until then I eat what makes me happy. I like going to a party and watch people eating off the veggie tray. I always nobody likes weeds and parties prove it. The first thing people say is where is the veggie dip. If dip is all gone no more veggies get eaten. They like the dip or dressing not the weeds. I know I should eat better but I just can't eat things that look like pig slop or have the taste of cardboard.

I'm active all the time never stop. I eat like cap and everyone I know tells me that. Eat what I like and I eat all the time. If the food doesnt mae me happy then im not eating it.Can't remember the last time I had a vegetable, not a rabbit I'm not eating tasteless weeds. Nothing for me to eat a half gallon of ice cream and bag of chips for a light snack. Love pizza, wings ,subs. I drink 8 bottles of Pepsi a day. Friends say I'm out of shape, doctor says I'm fat and out of shape. I tell all of them when they can keep up with me then I will change my diet and lose weight. I only weigh 236. None of my friends can keep up with me especially in the woods up and down hills. They all way far less then I do and eat healthy. I have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and bad back , ruptured disk and spinal rheumatoid arthritis. I can still out work any of them. I think the key is staying active. Never any down time for me. Only time I sit still is when deer hunting.

What point that he went four times lost four times. Has high amounts of interseptions in the games. Got sacked a lot in those games. You mean those points. 2 teams go to the super bowl ever year. Getting there is not that big of a deal. Being able to win is. Only one team a year does that. Now if he had of won all four that would be something to brag about. Yet Kelly couldn't win the big game four times but is still considered a god. Tyrod has completed more passes and thrown fewer interseptions in all his games the Kelly did in four games. He has also been sacked less.

Also ranks second for number of interseptions thrown in a super bowl. Also has second lowest completed attempt in a super bowl. He threw I believe 140 pass in all 4 super bowls and only completed about 50 of them. Also the most sacked QB in super bowls maybe if he could have done more the two steps and throw he could have avoided some of those sacks. Yeah he is the greatest ever yet Buffalo never won a super bowl even with him . If he was as great as you believe him to be he should have won all 4 by himself no team needed. Everyone complaing about trod yet u all forget the great joke Kelly never brought home a win either. If they would have kept flute and played his style of football they would have a super bowl win. He helped his team get to the big stage 4 times and caused them to lose all 4 times. Great QB there. His great numbers didn't help them win any super bowl now did they.

That joke was one of the worst they ever had.Frank Reich proved that when Kelly put them in a huge hole and then went out injured. I will give u that. However if the bills had made him there starter they might have had some good years. He proved he could start for that team and be a winner. It was a drop in the bucket. That doesn't count as an end of a drought. Tyrod was not the problem Bortles played like a grade school kid. He was forced to run because he couldn't pass. Every pass was in the ground or over thrown. The team was able to win even with a joke for a QB. Even after a bad pass he acted like a little saying but mommy it was suppose to be good. Mind you I'm not a bills fan nor a fan of any player on the team for that fact. Jags QB was a joke yet they won. Bills QB better but not by much yet they lost. It is a team sport and the team lost the game. Doesn't not matter who the bills have for a QB the team can never pull of the important wins never have been able to. The team has to be able to adjust for the QB but the bills staff no matter who it has been always try to make the QB adjust his style to the team. The Bills are like the minor leagues it is where players stop off for a while before going to a good team where their talents will actually be used. Doesn't matter who they have for players they never amount to anything until they go to another team. Heck the best QB they ever had was flutie and they dumped him because he was the wrong style of QB for them. You are right though there is always next year and the next and the next.

I have a great set of binoculars. My point is no matter how much time you take or how good a view you have unless you get a 360 degree view you can not be sure. Mistakes can and will happen. Human nature. Leos and courts take circumstances into consideration with other legal infractions why go full retard with an honest mistake. Oh that's right it could have grown to a trophy buck for an interior decorator to shoot. Gotta make sure all trophy potential can be reached. Hang them high if they dont

So never shoot unless it has at least 12 points then. That would be the only sure way to be safe. Like I said the one I saw could only be identified as antlerless unfilled I got a right side view. How many deer give you a view from every possible angle before it is too late to shoot? I agree should make every effort to identify even if no ar but short of walking up and putting hands on you can never be 100 percent sure. Mistakes will happen. Circumstances of what happened are taken into account for many crimes why go full regard over an obvious mistake that the hunter turned himself in for. How many doe have u shot that u got a 360 degree view of and knew for sure they didn't have a hidden antler. Or bucks that u knew the exact number of points and length of each one before u shot. Odds are few.

Again how long is long enough. The deer I spoke about could have been watched got hours and if it never gave a right side view you wouldn't have thought it was a buck. If the deer would have been alone that would have been the one I shot. I would have has an illegal deer down. Only after shooting another deer did the buck give me a view that showed it to be a buck. Again how long is long enough. Do we just never shoot anything that isn't a 12 point?

Had a bunch of doe come through past stand this year. Dropped the biggest one at 60 yards. As these deer were walking through before the shot I was able to glass everyone very well and in the open. All from the left side and front. Not an antler to be seen all appeared to be doeffective after shot the ones not lying flat out scattered all stopping after about 20 yards. Got right side views of them. One looked funny when I glazed them again I could see one had a flat antler that grew down the back of its head and along neck. If I had of shot that deer it would have been a buck. I had already used my buck tag so that deer would have been illegal If in An AR area it would have been an illegal buck even if I still had a buck tag. I took plenty of time looking these animals over. Good binoculars and open view. I guess my point is no matter how good of a look we get or how long we take we can never be sure as to what the animal has on its head unless it has huge antlers which is what the AR crap is all about. This guy was sure the buck was a shooter just as I would have been sure the deer was a doe. It was just luck of the draw I didn't picked that "doe" to shoot. What should he have done ask the deer to stop so he could walk over and put hands on to make sure. Taking the deer and a warning should have been enough. These laws are getting ridiculous.

Been a lot of mention of the deer herd and hunting season in other states. We can not use other states as a role model for ny. No other state has the same deer we do nor do they have the same hunters. Add in different soil, as structure climate, natural food sources even the political climate effects hunting in ny. We can only compare ny with ny. Using ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Kansas, where ever does not work. None of those states have the same things as ny. Some are close but enough of a difference to make them not usable as a model. Jmo

Only the sickest and weakest die off. It is the way of nature. If the animal is not able to get what it needs to survive be it because animal is too sick or weak or be it from the fact that the area just can not sustain the population of deer there. Could be that in some areas we would still see a large number of winter kills just because the area does not have enough available food to carry the number of deer there. Actually what makes opening weekend such a success is the same as for thanksgiveing. The number of hunters in the woods. More people in the woods and moving makes for more deer movement and higher rate of sightings and kills. Having multiple opening days would not changenthis. Some hunters do not have the t I'm to go out very often and if they don't already get out the second or third weekend of season now probably wouldn't be able to make it out just because it is a new opener.

Maybe the younger generation is turned off of hunting because they can not Handel the weather. In every article that puts NY at the bottom of the list for hunting it always says weather is a big factor. People get there hunting licenses then when they go out hunting expect it to be warm dry and sunny like on those hunting shows. Once they find out it is not as warm or easy as they thought they stop hunting.

Lack of trophy opertunities? Seems plenty of trophy bucks are gotten every year. The pics on social media show that. Then how many are shot that never get posted because the guy who shot it doesn't do social media or just does not have the need to brag. There isn't a lack of trophy bucks there is a lack of trophy bucks behind every tree as people see on hunting shows. They need to grow up and realize those shows are fake hunting. Too many people want instant satisfaction when the want a trophy. Participation trophies are wanted by everyone these days. News flash if you want a trophy work for it. They are there, they are gotten every year. You just do not see them in the first 5 minutes of every see like most want. To some quality is good tasting meat not a huge rack. The quantity problem comes into play when you shoot all the big bucks. If you shoot all the big bucks this year next year's big bucks numbers will be lower. This happens every year and then people start complaining there are no big bucks. There always plenty of young bucks left after season to replace the big ones that got shot. However it takes a a few years for these bucks to get big. In the mean time they are the biggest ones left so they are shot for trophies because all the actually trophy bucks were killed of in previous years. It is called high gradeing. Only way to avoid it is to only having a hunting season every 5 years. Shoot all your big trophies then wait 5 years and you will have more trophies behind every tree like trophy hunters want. They overrun it to get a trophy buck is here most just do not want to work for it.

Do away with big buck clubs and do away with being able to mount animals. No scoring no mounting no bragging just simple old hunting. Make city guys stay in the city. Land never started getting locked up until the big buck craze. People use to be more then happy to let anyone hunt their land. City guys started watching hunting shows and seeing the unrealistic hunting with unrealistic results then they started buying up land and locking it up so they could get big bucks. Biggest problem with land access that everyone is afraid someone else will shoot their big buck. Use to be that no one cared who shot what.

I read an article written by a supposed whitetail geniuses once. Can not remember name of guy or artical. It was addressing passing in the woods. He pointed out that deer small many different orders in the woods including urine from every animal . He said unless a deer sees a human or other animal take a leak and then walks over to smell it they have no clue as to what animal left that smell. They associate smells with food or danger. Not with individual animals. Loggers see big deer a lot so don't farmers when on there tractors. This is because in those the deer do not associate the smells or sounds from as a danger. The deer have never been shot at or harassed in any way when those smells are present. Now throw a coyote in there and is will cause them to at least be on alert and get nervous because there are not many deer that haven't been chased by a coyote. As for passing from your stand. Every humans urine has a different oder. No real way for the deer to know if that one particular scent poses a danger. However the smell enough of these types of orders and are shot at chased or other wise harassed when these orders are present they will think danger first. As Four seasons said if you are hunting older mature deer then pissing out of your stand or even 40 yards away will affect your hunt. The older ones have been shot at and harassed many times over the years. And human urine oder has been present on many of those occasions. They don't actually think human when the oder hits them but they do think and know danger. Yes many mock scrapes are started by guys pissing in them. How ever the biggest oldest bucks and 3rd does will not bee seen at those scrapes. Really depends on what animal you are hunting. Hunt any deer it doesn't really matter hunt mature deer you bet it matters.

I bow hunted for quite a few years and never had a year when I didn't take deer. The neighbors didn't bow hunt in fact very few people around the area did so no worries of them getting deer before gun season. Actually I have put up pictures of the deer I have taken many times infact. You can tell nothing about someone from what they post on the internet. No matter what you think you know about them the truth is almost always far from what you think. I rant about nothing. Rants are based on nothing but opinion. Absolutely everything I have said about bow hunters is true. They are facts based on the exact words used by bow hunters every single time a thread like this comes up. Go to any hunting site and you can read the Samy words from many more bow hunters then just the ones here. All one needs to do is read the threads here they can quickly see the words from the b on hunters. Can you dispute this in any way? Are these statements and words I have used not words used by bow hunters? That fact that they are and that you can not dispute or prove false anything I have said is what is causing you and others to call me out on my hunting success. Gotta deflect and distract from the truth some how. Show me my statements are wrong and I will shut my mouth. The words are there on many sites yet you try to deny them. I have no worries in any bar and as for proving the facts. Just read a few threads in here you will find the same words I put up as examples used by many bow hunters. I always say many or most because I know not all are this way but when it is the over whelming majority it is hard to separate the very few. As for but hurt the only one but hurt are the bow hunters who do not like facts that the can not prove wrong. Especially when there own words are used against them.

I am forgetting nothing a bow hunter who also hunts with a gun still considers himself a bow hunter. You your self just said it. You said most of us bow hunters use a gun also. Why did you seperate the two. You could have said alot of HUNTERS use both weapons, but you didn't.There words alone show us that. How many threads on this very subject have there been or posts on crossbow hunting. In every one there is post after post referring to gun hunters as slobs. Orange army, brown is down clowns. Gene hunters do not have what it takes they are lazy and many more things said against hunters who use guns. Bo hunters have there own separate season. Why is this needed? Why do bow hunters have there own special tag? You guys say you hunt with bows for the chalange yet want your own special time in the woods with no disturbance from others to minimize the chalange. If you actually like the challenges then why not just one season with any weapon? Wouldn't that add to the challenge you guy speed of? Kind of like a kid playing football wanting the other kids to step down there skills so he can score. Last I knew Peta was against all hunting yet you statement suggest that are just bow hunting. Do hunters who use only guns have the own separate web pages? How many forums are bow hunting forums? Many right? How many are gun hunting forums? I can think of none. There are hunting forums where bow hunter and gun hunters talk shop yet a bow forum is about bow hunting not a jus hunting. Do hunters who use guns have there own organization like the nysbha? Do hunters who use guns push for shorter bow season? No but hunters who use bows sure do push for a shorter gun season. When a different weapon was introduced in to gun season ( the rifle ) did gun hunters fight against it? Nope not at all we saw it as another type of gun to use maybe a better one. Try to introduce another weapon into bow season ( the crossbow) and the sky is falling. Bow hunters sure fight that and it is nothing more then another type of bow to use. Bitterness comes from emotions. My statements about bow hunters come from facts. Yes facts not just something I think or feel. Facts that are proved time and time again. Proven by the same people who try to claim they are not facts yet in trying to disprove the facts use the same words and statements I pointed out and more . Thus proving my point further.

Not a wide brush at all. In just this thread there has been more then one person that made a comment like the one I mentioned. Go read any thread like this one or one about crossbows and you can easily see it is the majority of bow hunters who say these things about gun hunters. Go to any hunting site or Facebook you can see the comments made by many many bow hunters. Take the blinders off and actually read the words your comrades write, don't skip over the words that put down hunters who use guns only. You will see that the vast majority actually do separate themselves from others and put themselves above all other hunters.
