Only use food scents in early season. Dont use deer smells till late october and the rut. The bucks arent dumb, they know when its too early to be smelling does in heat. As for the raccoon, I wouldnt bother myself. Shower and keep clothes scent free.

Not for me thanks. Ill take pictures of deer over bait, but I would not shoot an animal over bait that I left for them to eat in comfort. That's why I don't hunt Bear I guess. I cant shoot an animal that is treed either. Or baited. Im in NH and its legal for the first time this year with landowner permission to bait deer. But I wont be doing it.

Orange hat while walking in woods or out of woods during bow. Same with vest in gun season but it comes off in the treestand. In NH you don't EVER have to wear orange. Any season! Id say the only reason I DONT wear it is to remain hidden to other hunters who when they see you , feel obligated to walk over and say Hi and ruin your hunt. I almost always hunt alone.

I am leasing this year in 7M. I filled out the DMP tags for my landowner because he had never applied. Hes a landowner so should get preference. Theres a place on the application for my info as the leasee. Does anyone know whether they will be sending tags to the landowner or me? I don't really understand the whole process I guess. Can you BUY DMP tags? I thought it was some type of lottery or distribution process. I had the landowner sign it and I sent it in, I didn't send any money with it. Will I find out if I got any tags by mail, and then have to pay the $10 each? Any help?

With all the responses you got, may I suggest a Pack Horse !! Along with all the other things, just make sure you bring your Common Sense!! That's my best advise having met you. That will get you a long ways.

In New Hampshire you apply for a baiting permit. This allows you to bait Bear and then Deer during certain times of the season. Basically bow and early Muzzy. You must have a permit and landowner permission to do it. I post deer pics here that I get over feed, but I can honestly say I have NEVER shot an animal over feed I have left for them. I do it for pictures, which still requires the baiting permit. Even when I go on a guided hunt, don't ask me to sit by a feeder for deer.

I previously posted pics of a nice 8 pointer I have had on film for 4 yrs now. Last year he was running with a big wide 10 pointer early in the season. After they shed velvet on Sept. 13 last year, they split up for the breeding season. Well...They are back together. Got some nice videos thanks to NFA-ADK's turning me onto a camera study which says to take video not pics, to see the whole story. Well I have vids with both of the Boys!! The 8 and now the wide 10 again. Also other deer ,but these are the studs. Hope I see them in September. Not afraid of the camera because they are used to it now.
