  1. Was out early to beat the heat. Found 2 sulphur shelf, a nice heap of prime chanterelles and a mess of bi-color boletes. The chickens were old but I was able to get some good meat off one Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  2. Yep Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  3. Whenever I hear Chicken of the Woods I can't help but think of the guys who won't enter the woods until daylight[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  4. Tough to tell from the pics. Almost looks like yellowfoot chanterelles and also resembles a kind of club fungi. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  5. You're confusing Laetiporus sulphureus(chicken of the woods) with Grifola Frondosa( Hen of the woods). Both equally delicious, but hens usually fruit later in the season(Sept./Oct.) COTW fruits from spring to fall. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  6. That's almost 2 hours from me. It sure does look like a beauty though. An ambitious person armed with a pole saw could be in for a treat Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  7. Looks like some sort of screw in step or hanger right next to the fungi. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  8. Put it this way, I'd scale that tree with no safety line and my knife in my teeth. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  9. They're indian pipes Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  10. In the first pic, the top row of boletes seem to be Boletus Edulis(porchini) although if the flesh is yellowish rather than white and stains blue when cut, you may actually have Boletus Huronesis which can cause gastric distress when consumed. The bottom 2 rows look even more suspect. Be careful. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  11. Quick note to add that those parasols which are supposedly a choice edible can also resemble certain varieties of Amanitas which can be deadly. Proceed with caution. I haven't honed my parasol identification, but perhaps in the next few years I might. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  12. These I'm not sure without seeing pics from different angles, but sure are intriguing Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  13. These look like parasols to me. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  14. Yes all NYS native snakes are protected. Watersnakes look nasty, but are usually harmless Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  15. But I thought the USDA caught all of the escaped Eurasian hogs?[emoji1] Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  16. Took a walkabout yesterday after work and collected some more nice lobster mushrooms, some wood ear fungi, chanterelles and about 8 pounds of oysters. I was up until 1am blanching & freezing shrooms. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  17. Looks like a Berkeley's polypore. Not edible as far as I know Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  18. Pic 3 is Reishi. It's been used medicinally for 2,000 - 4,000 years. Pics 4 & 5 are bi-color boletes. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  19. After a few days of rain I decided to make a quick lap tonight with my wife and kids. My primary target was milkweed pods. I've never tried them, but after enjoying the flower buds a few weeks ago I thought I'd give em a shot. After I gathered enough to test, we made a 100yd loop inside the woods and walked out with 3 lobster mushrooms a few chanterelles and a handful of perfect oyster mushrooms. This has been a stellar year for me! My personal best and it's still in full swing from here straight through October. Springtime yeilded the most morels I'd ever found. Since the 1st of July I collected 15+ pounds of Chanterelles, tons of Reishi, 8 pounds of Bi-color boletes, about 10 pounds of oysters and probably 10 pounds of dryads saddle. My freezer is so packed full of mushrooms that I need to take them down to the chest freezer. My dehydrator has been running nonstop. Life is good! Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  20. I agree the Bite Box has excellent stuff. We had them come to my works spring open house a couple years ago. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  21. I'll give it a go, should be fun. Sign me up Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  22. Grampy, you aint kidding! I pulled a 1964 merc 9.9 off the lake bed last year and it had obviously been there a while. I cleaned it out and had it running within the same day. Compression tested perfectly. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  23. That or a fisher Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  24. The Chanterelles have cooperated wonderfully this year. The dry spell slowed their growth allowing me ample time to harvest and has kept them bug free. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  25. First chants of the year and a reishi Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
