  1. The coprines in certain kinds of inky caps can act just like antibuse when consumed with alcohol. I never tried them, but if you do please make sure you've ID'd them 100% Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  2. Looks like Mica caps. I get tons of them growing in my yard at different times of the year. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  3. Yesterday's catch. 6lbs In the oven as we speak. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  4. I eat the ramp greens too so I like to wait until they're fully up. That way I can tell if its a mature or young plant. I only dig the mature ramps Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  5. Gonna check my spots tomorrow as well. A bet early IMO Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  6. Thats gonna be tough and it might take a while. You can obtain cultures and sterile substrate, but if it were me I would inoculate large ash tree roots or mulch around the ash trees with the inoculated substrate. Morels only fruit when and where they want. Morels are thought to be saporotrophic as well as mycorrhizal. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  7. I managed a 7lb. brown yesterday from Keuka lake. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  8. I'd recommend sticking with the more "foolproof" species of fungi for awhile. Morels, Chicken mushroom, Shaggy manes, Hedgehog, Black trumpets. If you haven't noticed, that list does not include Agarics which is a genus of fungi that have gills. While there are many edible Agarics like the pasture mushroom, they can be tough to correctly identify through visual aid alone. It's risky if you don't know how to test them by doing spore prints and/or lab tests. Even the simple puffball fungi has its own risks that can be FATAL. Check out American Mushrooms. 9. I've only been able to find a few morels since we moved, but the searching is half the fun. My ramp supply ran out so I'm ready to dig more. I'll probably go light on the turkey hunting this year and do more metal detecting, foraging and trolling for lake trout. Just never enough time for all my hobbies Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  10. Decided to throw a few lures from shore this morning. Not a giant laker, but lunch nonetheless. Also got a pickerel the same size but didn't get a pic. Got the brown last week. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  11. I've had my Foxpro for 3 seasons and I like it, but to be honest I've called in more preds by kissing the back of my hand or thumbnail. I could rival the best call on the market. Red fox normally like more of a squeaky sound at low-mid volume. Grey fox will run up your leg with most any sound/volume. Coyotes are smart and most have been educated quite well. It's safe to bet that every coyote in the state has heard Bay Bee Cottontail or Titmouse Tantrum at least a dozen times.[emoji1] Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  12. I've done more daytime calling this year than ever before. Must have tried 10-15 times, usually 3-4 stands per trip and never seen a thing. That's even with tons of sign in the area and using a FoxPro with a motion decoy. I've taken 11 fox and 1 yote this season, all after dark. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  13. Just hammered one. Howled him in. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  14. Up to 9 fox so far(5 greys & 4 reds). 3 of the greys are from just this week. Should have had more fox and a couple yotes this weekend, but we wont rehash the screw-ups lol. Here's a few of em. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  15. I upgraded from .22mag to .243 for yotes. They don't move after getting hit with an 80gr. jacketed softpoint @3,300fps! I watched my brother drop a running yote at over 100yds with a .22lr back in the late 90's so it can be done but I'd personally only take headshots. I think you have the basics covered. Make sure you can see downwind a good ways and don't hesitate to set up with terrain features that might block them from approaching from downwind such as a creek or ravine. Keep the sun at your back and be ready. I always start by calling softly for a few minutes just in case there are any k9s nearby(they wont respond to a 60lb cottontail LOL). Dont over call and give daytime sets up to 1/2hr before moving on. Fox wont always run the other way from coyote vocals. Just 2 weeks ago I did a few howls and had no response so as a last ditch effort I hit the coyote distress and out comes a red fox barking. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  16. My uncle sent me these from MD. Impressively smooth. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  17. Flock of turkeys just came through. No deer yet Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  18. Mila's already in bed with planned parenthood.[emoji23] She'd get a pass from me. Lol sorry, I couldn't resist Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  19. Off work until next Monday so I'm in my 8j private spot with the x-bow. Trying to tag the big buck I've had 2 encounters with. Nothing yet. A bit breezy. Hoping he catches a whiff of the 2 tarsal glands I put out. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  20. Had a heartwrenching encounter with the buck of my dreams yesterday afternoon. I had him at 20yds. All I needed was for him to take 5 steps so I could put a bolt through his heart, but a scrub buck pulled him the other way. Luck shone on me today though! Took my father in-law to a different spot today and I saw this buck heading right for him, but when the buck turned the other way I took a 120yd shot. .243 clipped his heart. His death dash was only 60yds. Dragging him out was the pits, but well worth it. 9 point. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  21. Got it done in 8N Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  22. Bailing out for lunch. Seen Mr. Big on the way in then had 5 doe come through around 8 o'clock Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

I hunted hi tor today. I live about 15 minutes away. Saw a few doe and a buck that will be real nice next year(if he lives that long). I'm interested in hearing about this swine too. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  24. Spooked a deer 30yds from my stand on the way in. Nothing since. 8J Taking my father in-law out this afternoon for his first sit this season. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
