  1. While I can agree that it is unfortunate, I can't classify it as theft. After all, it's her land and her prerogative to do as she sees fit. I'm not sure if you can blame the trapper either, he/she may be unaware of your previous agreement with the landowner.
  2. 3 doe and 1 spike seen this evening. Tomorrow will be my first morning hunt this season. Can't wait!
  3. a fox or coyote probably uses that stump as a scent post
  4. That's a dog, but what is he attracted to? Is that another animal?
  5. Oh hell no! That's the week us bowhunters live for and dream of all year!
  6. I honestly liked it better when bow season opened on the 15th. I say bring that back and let the youth get a crack in late Sept.
  7. Haha, brings out the animal in ya huh? I especially love it when I've got my back to some brush/goldenrod while scanning a field and squalling on the distress calls only to hear them creapin around 30' behind me. I've had fire in my eyes a few times thinkin I was gonna have to run through a pack of em snappin necks, but truth be told nothin will make a yote jump out of it's skin faster than coming across a 6'+ man in the dead of night gnashing his teeth & growling. post script: I also wanted to point out that when one "thinks" they hear a "pack" they are often times only hearing 2 or 3
  8. As young lads, my brother and I used to be the bunny flushers for my grandpas hawks. He even made us cool walking sticks to beat the brush with. It's awesome watching a raptor light on it's prey
  9. Ya might as well just spit on the ground below your stand. Why stop at just one spit tube when you could get a quartet going with tending grunts, estrous bleats, etc.
  10. I'm in a natural blind I just built overlooking 2 fresh scrapes that a deer made on a rubline that has been in use for atleast 3 years. I saw a Giant(130's) buck here in Dec. 2012 while trapping. Maybe he's still on the hoof! The wind is right! We shall see......
  11. I've done that too. Also once I walked with my climber 1/2 mile into state land to a nice little patch of old growth pines, found the perfect tree/spot, climbed the tree, hoisted my OLD bow, and as I went to knock an arrow noticed my rest had gotten snapped off. That sucked and I haven't been back there since!
  12. I have a few in there, but those are just the ones I've kept since I got a new holder after mine got ran through the washer. I do have my Grandpa's tag from the 30's which is pretty cool
  13. Sat for 3 hours. Saw a red fox and found someones gutpile on the way out.
  14. I have a winchester blood light. It's pretty slick
  15. Quick tip on hens, just drive around and look around the base of big oak trees. We often find them in peoples front lawns.
  16. Pretty breezy here. I might cut out of work early and dust off the climber
  17. Good detective work, you must have found the "food plot" that we saw in a thread earlier this morning! Lol oh and another thing, there must not be any coyotes around that field for miles!
  18. Of all days to choose not to sneak in a quick hunt before work, my boss shoots me a text @7: 30 that he didn't want to start til 9. Grrrrr
  19. If you need help that's fine. I'm just trying to understand your goal of planting corn in August/Sept.
  20. Oh and I think you tried growing way more corn seeds than you need. It'd be best to plant them by hand one at a time. Corn roots grow shallow so you can loosen up a spot a few inches wide and a few inches deep with a small shovel then push a seed or 2 in with your finger. Space them 8-10 inches apart and keep your rows 16-18 inches apart. This allows for better airflow and sunlight.
  21. So where did you buy your corn? Can you take a pic of the bag? Then I could tell you if you got the kind of corn that grows in the wintertime.
  22. Hmmm. When did you attempt to plant the corn? Just saying, any corn kernels thrown on top of the ground in the spring that didn't take would likely be cleaned up by turkeys, deer, etc. long before September. If not, it would surely be moldy/nasty and probably not yellow in color anymore. So where do you hunt? Maybe you need to test your soil.
  23. I hope you guys bag a nice one. Nothing better than bringing fresh backstrap home to mamma!
  24. you just aren't doin it for me the way Stevie does! Lol
