You will most likely get mixed opinions/reviews because some bowhunters are still dead set against crossbows. I personally have lightened up on the crossbow topic and have no qualms with people using them. However, I choose not to use x-bows because they tend to instantly drain guys of their machismo! lol I say use whatever gives you the most confidence in making a quick & clean kill. Some day you'll look for ways to test your skills. Just hang in there and enjoy the time you spend afield. Good luck

I hunt around there. It's as good as any place in the state. There are big boys all over, but they're not big for no reason.

I'm on year 3 with my Baffins from Sportsmans giude. Plenty warm, lightweight, and still waterproof. The best part is they were only $45

you knocking $60 off since you sold the cam?

That could very well be true, but just as the guy at Dicks said that the store never purchased a new machine this year like they had hoped, your statement is still only hearsay.

The first shot I got on a coyote was with 00buck @ 50 yds. The first shot hit and sent him into a spin so I lofted another at it. I tracked that sucker atleast a mile in the dark before I lost blood. I've since then switched to #4buck, it has more pellets and they don't deform like when you push large pellets through a tight constriction. Buckshot has no place in big game hunting. If you're limiting your shots to 100yds anyway, then even a rifled slug out of a smooth bore will perform head & shoulders above any (spray n' pray) shot. Also aren't we supposed to be frowning upon shooting at anything running through the brush? You're right, it only takes one pellet to kill. Think about it.

In my opinion, operator error and old worn out (agent owned) printers/computers have more to do with it than the DEC. The issuing agents buy a computer/printer and try to squeeze out every red cent possible. In all actually, the machine likely pays for itself on any one given day between August and October. The guy @ Dicks told me that their machine is getting junked after this season.

as soon as I sent my last post I found this Katydid on my deck while I was out having a smoke.

I'm gonna guess that it's an apple tree and those are Wooly Apple Aphids.

If it was made by a buck he's probably a resident that is starting to scope out the local doe. He could only come through there every few days or it might be his nightly jaunt. You want a cam there! There will likely be other scrapes popping up all around. Just keep in mind that a buck won't need to stick his nose in the scrape to check it. They can scent check from a ways downwind and this is how the smaller sattelite scrapes are created, they stand there trying to smell it and can't help pawing a new one! Also, once the does start answering his calling card, he may likely bed downwind to hopefully catch the scent of a live hot doe passing through.

Did they leave any corn standing? I'd say hunt it (if the farmer isn't still spreading). The deer might hang back in the brush from the dusturbance, but they are curious by nature so at some point they will be out to investigate

It can't hurt! Is it on a field/woods edge or inside cover?

My favorite would be Onondaga chert.

Damn! That's crap!

yikes! I always check my goods before I hand anyone cash! Mine were printed on last years yellow paper because the guy at Dick's said the camo paper wouldn't even work.

Have at it & enjoy yourself!

The wind constantly swirled again tonight. Had 3 doe just out of range when they caught my scent. Had a lone deer blowing down in the brushy bottom. I think it was a buck trying to make his way to a scrape line. Northwest winds just dont work in that spot. Oh well, it's enjoyable just being afield. Gonna work some ot this week and let that spot sit til the rut. I got the does patterned, so it won't be long til the bucks will be cruising!

how did you even decipher a full sentence from that? I have a good amount of intellect, but come on we're already talking about crap. Do we really need 11 year old verbage? lol

Saw 6 deer this evening. Was gonna draw on a big doe, but the wind was swirling and she stayed just outta range. Somethin must be in the air because at sunset 3 deer were doing hot laps around me. I couldn't tell if any were bucks, but the one doing the chasing was heavier footed and darker in color. They came from a trail that has both fresh rubs & scrapes.
