  1. strange..... all the cams I nab from state woods are always nameless and btw I have 2 camo chairs for whoever is interested! lol Yeah that is bs. I'm not condoning lying, but maybe just tell the judge/magistrate that you had just walked back to your car to grab your laminated info card or that nature called and the ranger wouldn't stop as you chased after him and that in your haste you wiped with poison ivy. Now you want the ranger to pay you for punitive damages to your ass. Lol. wow I need some sleep!
  2. No you must quarter the deer up and carry it out along with both climbers! lol
  3. You could check out Bear Spring Mountain 30 miles east in Walton,NY 7,000 acres. I know they have campsites, but not sure about lodges.
  4. I've only fished & picknicked there. My cousin bowhunts there. The nearest lodging would be the motel in Deposit. I hunt in Deposit sometimes.
  5. I'm originally from the Maine/J.C. area, but now live in Bingo. I'd be willing to show you a spot or 2. Heck we have a few guys from the area, so maybe we could do a group hunt or some deer drives and hey if you'll be needing a pad I work for a property management company. We have over 300 rental apartments & houses.
  6. In another perspective, you're just making it easier for other predators like fox to move in and decimate your small game species. Yotes have a home range of 10+ sq. miles and travel many miles every night. Fox on the other hand are crafty and will live under your barn if they want to. Fox will relentlessly hunt the small critters, where yotes are opportunists and are always on the move eating whatever they can find. Predators play an important role in a well balanced ecosystem.
  7. That's not what she said when she came staggering back to the barn the next morning!
  8. hey what were you doing to that sheep in the dark & dank woods @ that hour?
  9. furthermore, I originally opened this thread to actually help you, but you blew that bucko!
  10. Listen closely. The deer DO NOT belong to you. They are wild creatures that roam to the areas that suit them best. Maybe you're your own worst enemy by trapsing around so much fiddling with trail cams. I cannot let this go unsaid, IF you did this in NYS, you just lost all respect from me. It may be "just a coyote" in your eyes, but I happen to enjoy them quite alot and only a poacher kills out of season. If you joined the white tail contest, you should be immediately DQ'd for being a known poacher!
  11. You'd be surprised what I've heard @ 2:30am in February while yote hunting in the middle of nowhere! No lie.
  12. I always carry a grunt tube. If I have a buck that likes to sleep right up til dark, I'll bring the rattlers and arouse his curiosity with a sparring session. Just be ready because they'll come in looking and seemingly just appear out of nowhere. I've been caught off guard by a few light-footed bucks that came in to check out the fight.
  13. This is sort of ambush hunting. I like to sit off the side of a trail and also make sure that I can see through the brush so I can prepare for a shot and draw. I don't want an open shot until the deer is past me and quartering away. I hunt this way once the seeking phase heats up and I'm usually on a secluded scrape line.
  14. Sorry old timer but your "written gospel" is not the end all, be all. "Hunting" in it's most primitive form was for nothing more than to provide sustenance regardless of how it was attained. Answer me this. Is a guy in a tower stand with a 7mm Rem Mag overlooking a 300 acre field a hunter? Also, just to be clear, baiting in NY has been illegal for some time so most of us "young fellows" have never baited. Ever. So now tell us we're not hunting.
  15. Best of luck with all of that. Keep that positive mindset, it will help you heal. My wife was just hospitalized last week for cardiac issues. She's home now, but scary stuff for sure!
  16. Looks like the bobcat or yote got the message and is tucking tail.

    Susky Muskies

my biggest smallie from Saturday morning wading the Chenango.
  18. but if you go for that shot you would quite often, almost always, downright guarantee that he'll be gut shot!
  19. Just take a big whiff and get elbow deep. Maybe then you'll learn to pick your shots better.
  20. You could try some Loctite PL premium polyurethane construction adhesive. I'd spread an initial filler layer, let it set up, then apply a larger & thicker coat. Once that cures you can hit the whole tank with a couple cans of flex seal to prevent other spots from rusting-through.
  21. That's awesome moose! Was he discouraged at first since everyone else was gun hunting?
