Awe cool. Thanks Pygmy for shedding some light on that. It sounds like it would be pretty effective. I haven't been to the Delaware all year. Planning to go visit gramps in Deposit this weekend , but can't fish w/ a broken hand. I was heartbroke last year after a giant hook-jawed brown spit my hook.

I don't see it as, baiting = illegal. The real factor is why it is illegal. CWD is why. It has been found in NY and PA. To put it plainly, "baiting" is a selfish act. 1. for the increased hunting odds, especially if the hunter has the only bait station for miles. 2. also to the younger generations of hunters if they have to hunt a herd of infectious deer. CWD may be "not known to infect humans" as of now, but would any hunter knowingly sink their teeth into a backstrap that was infected? I'll venture to say the answer would be no. So in this case, "minding thy own business" can be detrimental to the whole hunting community.

Isn't that what some call "lifting"? It is my understanding that some get away with tipping their hook with a little piece of a plastic bait, but the foul hooking that happens often during this method is the most frowned upon part.

I hope not. As much as I hunt predators, I would not care to hunt them in the summer heat. I think it would educate them further and therefore hunting them would be even more difficult. Summertime and scent free doesn't work and yotes will be the first to wind a stinky hunter. As someone mentioned before, they are a furbearing animal. A proposition for a year round season would be met with a sizeable opposition from fur trappers/hunters and NYSTA. Waging a confrontation with fellow PRO hunting people/organizations is pointless. Organizations like NYSTA fight for better hunting/trapping opportunities, like the new bobcat season in the southern tier. Look at it this way, anti hunters dont want any animals (including yotes) to be hunted so they raise hell about it, that is until their little pet gets consumed out in their backyard! Maybe that will change their tune!.

Is that a working rail line?

With the exception of private deer farms within the state, the only demand of these products "should" be to supply people who are traveling to a different state or flying into a remote place. We all know that it doesn't stop people from using it in NY. It seems like king andy would put a stop to it if he knew some hunters are hunting elsewhere, since he cares about the people so much(LOL) Whoever said that it's all about cash flow is spot on!!!! It does seem like a setup, especially for new hunters with "deer goggles" on. "If you find yourself in a "buck jam" just try some "deer cocaine". It's all the "acorn rage"!

Best birthday wishes to you! It's your day, soak it up!

I wouldn't care to bait deer even if it were legal It might still be "hunting", but it still carries a cheating mentality. Where's the challenge in that? Nothing is learned from doing it. I dislike those who jacklight deer even more! Haha, glad you got under that guy's skin Eddie! He would shoot them? Yeah he (might) get his safety clicked off before the ECO sends five 9mm rounds out the guys back tag!

Good for my deer "herd"?

While it may not be illegal to use it for the cows, hunting over it might be. IMO minerals would need to be introduced in early spring to see much benefit. They have so much variety this time of year like flowers, succulent greens, vegetables, fruits and berries. I would also hate to see your cows get CWD. -
We rescued her and have not had even the slightest regret. Due to medical reasons we can not have children, so Precious is our little darlin'! Spoiled is an understatement. She always sleeps above my head on my second pillow and so what if I sleep with my feet hanging off the bed, as long as she's comfy! lol A great watch dog too, I swear her ears could rival a white tails. I've always wanted a Plott hound, but my mind was made up when I saw her. The day we met her she acted as if she'd known us all of her life. All she wanted was love and she knew she was home.

Sodium Selenite is a salt. Illegal. I also read that it can be toxic to dogs if they ingest too much, any vitamin can for that matter and this is called toxicosis. Deer are bigger than dogs, just not sure you want to chance giving them something formulated for a large animal such as a cow -
Here's our Pomeranian "Precious". Patiently waiting for me to start butchering. She loves venny! This is her probably waiting to see if I come home with a yote or fox.

Choose a bow that fits you. An archery pro-shop will adjust it to fit you. Practice shooting often. Stick around and ask lots of questions. We're all eagerly anticipating bow season and helping newcomers is what we do!

Wish someone would have an ammo raffle

That's awesome! Congrats

How's that going BTW
-
Definitely! My fiance calls it an obsession. I'm just as fanatic about predator hunting/trapping as I am about deer

I'll send one down the Delaware. lol Nothing wrong with any cuts of meat. The neck does offer up a good roast if you feel like messing with it.

Every time you spot a mushroom in their yard throw on a tye-dye and cut off denim shorts. Then eagerly ask them if you can pick it, while smiling ear to ear! That's the time to ask if they saw the family of skunks that were playing bongo drums in your back yard.

Canoes are muscle powered, so therefore it's not a motor vehicle. I can't find any supporting documentation on it being illegal to shoot gun or bow from a muscle powered canoe. I don't plan on doing it anyways, but if someone can point us to the facts, it would be good to know for future reference. If you put a trolling motor or gas motor on your canoe, it needs to be registered with the DMV and must display the registration numbers.

Time to bust out the rake!
-
That's an interesting point Elmo since the DEC classifies a "motor vehicle" as "any vehicle or device operated by any power other than muscle power".
-
I aint buyin' that! lol
-
This would have that cat on a leash real quick!LOL

I'd have a field day with that! Chainsaws, weedwhackers, angle grinders, circular saws, nail gun, bbq grill, Etc. When 7AM hits fire em up! Or just wait til the wind is blowing towards their house and spray some skunk essence, then ask them if they saw the skunk! lol I'm all for being neighborly, but I won't tiptoe for anyone
