  1. Two more bounds and he would've been at my foot. I stood up and yelled at him. Shot gun ready.
  2. Had a very interesting morning. Snuck into woods early. Looked around and said. That doesn't look like a turkey. Yup, it's a bear. 5 seconds later this bear ran straight at me. I can't post the video but these screens shots show how close he came before I stood up and scared him away. The morning hunt went well too.
  3. Mine is woodland camo. Old school for sure. I upgraded with some camo tape.
  4. I bought a used one 15 years ago and love it . Easy to handle, easy to carry. I shoot 3.5" #4 Winchester XR's. Mows them down. Noticeably lighter Thamn my semi auto.
  5. Venison, broccoli and wild leeks stir fry.
  6. Early Leeks. Tasty salad fixings tonight.
  7. Heard lots of gobbling from the Roost. Then lots of hen talk once on the ground. Excellent morning in the northern Catskills.
  8. Hunted all day didn't see a deer. At the brewer having a beer.
  9. My season has been exactly the same. I've had nothing in front of my gun. Will try one more time. Boat is calling.
  10. I feel for you. I did the same thing last weekend. One step to far.
  11. Awesome job. Congratulations. A beautiful morning.
  12. I agree. I have not heard a gobble the past two weekends. I heard birds gobble scouting weekend but nothing the past two. Hunted in pouring rain. Then hunted in a snow storm. Hopefully this weekend things will pick up. Good luck.
  13. After reading all the comments I checked my ammo box. I have 18 Winchester XR's in 12ga. 3 1/2" #4's. Same gun, same choke and same shells I've shot for past three seasons. No need to do any more patterning. Just go hunt. Very lucky this year that I did all that previously. Good luck all.
  14. Killed my first turkey with a Browning A-5 12ga. 2 3/4" #2's. Original barrel. Probably 35 or so years ago. That was before turkey guns and turkey loads. Was the way to go.
  15. Awesome hunt. Congratulations. Enjoy your venison this winter.
  16. Saw some nice rubs in this area. Hunted this spot hard and it paid off.
