  1. By all means, continue the fight....I will too. Just don't continuously act like the sky is falling. : You guys act like a bunch of frightened women.
  2. They are both. It is no different than the Republican house passing a bill to repeal Health Care, even though they knew it would die in Senate. It was more important to show their constituency that they are serious about cutting spending than to actually repeal the Health Care law. The lefties from downstate know where their bread is buttered, and they must appear to be promoting their constituents' agenda...even if it is unrealistic to expect it to gain any traction. It is political posturing. I do not think it makes us look particularly strong when gun owners overreact to every little piece of legislation that it is submitted. Especially when you are preaching to the choir....
  3. Really? A "dire threat?" Stupid bills are put forth by the dozens, every year. Ever hear the parable about the boy who cried wolf?
  4. A bill is a lot different than a law. There are many ridiculous bills floated every year that do not have any realistic chance of becoming law. It is how politicians pander to their constituency. Anti-hunting bills are one example. Crossbow bills are another. And gun control bills fit the same mold. Should we remain vigilant? Absolutely. Is it realistic to state that just because a bill is floated that it is a dire threat to our guns? Absolutely not.
  5. Don't forget moving the gun season out of the rut....that would help protect bucks when they are most vulnerable. Interestingly, however, each of these can be disputed. Ohio does not have AR, but they obviously have big bucks. IL has a 2 buck rule and no AR, yet they have big bucks. TX has a really long gun season, but they have big bucks.
  6. Yea...statewide it is pretty evenly split. Again.....I bet the vast majority of AR supporters have a box full of sawed off spikes and forkhorns in their garage. They had no problem shooting dink bucks back in the day, but now feel they need AR to have a better chance at a big buck. At the expense of those hunters who would still be happy to be sawing off spikes and forkhorns for a box in their garage.
  7. No, crossbow pusher, I am not comparing crossbows to anything. I am showing that you have a principle that you would not want violated....MZ in bow season is unacceptable to you. Similarly, crossbows in bowseason are unacceptable to ME. That does not mean I compare crossbows to MZ....it means I find crossbows as unacceptable in a bow season. You say crossbows are similar to compounds....I disagree. The process used to shoot a cossbow is far more similar to a gun than a bow. And just because states add them does not mean they believe them to be bows....most still maintain entirely definitions for bows and crossbows. It means they have allowed them to be included in the special season...no more and no less.
  8. yes i would object to muzzle loaders being put into bow season, yes a weapon which propells a 300 grain "BULLET" at 2000 fps, uses "GUNPOWDER" and makes a "BIG BANG". excuse me for talking to you like a 4 year old but i'm just trying to point out the differences that make a "DIFFERENCE" between a crossbow and a muzzleloader to someone who thinks like a 4 year old. oh and i will save you the trouble of having to type your next response, hear...."WELL we already have small game hunters shooting shotguns during bow season :'( :'( , waaa, waaa, waaa! you guy's like Doc and Spiker have all gotten so lame and weak with your predictable arguments to why we shouldnt have crossbows in bow seaon that it has become pathetic. While you are good at hurling insults, its obvious that you must not be too bright. You are proving my point. You are willing to exclude MZ because it is different enough, in your mind, that it should not be allowed in bowseason. That's fine....I agree. But, if we simply extend that logic.......It should be obvious that people who oppose crossbows feel that THEY are different enough from bowsw to warrant exclusion. Its pretty simple, if you pull your head out of your rear long enought to think about it.
  9. The above quote just revoked his NYBOW membership and the privileges that it comes with (what ever they are) ??? I used to get a pin. Nowadays, we get a sticker. Reasonable compromise is called for...few are willing to agree to reasonable compromise.
  10. You are a trad bowhunter? OMG, that is so awesome! Get over yourself. LOL
  11. and aging hunters...say 60 or older in the bow season. Yup...all that is fine by me.
  12. I know, right? Calling for the banning of a perfectly legal hunting practice....that's antihunting. Its a lot worse than preventing someone from legalizing a controversial and questionable method.
  13. I bet most of the guys who support AR have killed a truckload of scrub bucks back in the day. Ironic that you'd remove that option for others, now that you have outgrown it.
  14. I would have absolutely no problem with it. I think they SHOULD create a separate crossbow season. Crossbows are not inherently evil, and deserve their place in the hunting woods. Crossbow pushers, on the other hand....they ARE inherently evil. ;D
  15. LMAO....and foot drawn, and crank drawn. Dishonest post. >
  16. First of all, a slight correction. I do think that a crossbow is archery equipment. I do not agree it is the same as a bow. Similarly, I understand that flintlocks, inlines, slug guns, and crenterfires are all firearms. Yet...I do not feel that slug guns and centerfires belong in MZ seasons, nor do I think rifles should be allowed in a handgun season, nor do I think inlines should be allowed in a flintlock season. You all keep asking the reason for my opposition, then when I give it, you dismiss it. The repeated claims that anyone who opposes crossbows is just opposed to more hunters in the woods is false, and insulting. I repeat ..... I am all for having more bowhunters in bowseason. But I want them to be BOW hunters.
  17. A+---the world didn't fall apart when they opened up areas to rifle....allowed optics for ML...changed the definition of shotgun to allow rifled barrels....relaxed rifle caliber to allow smaller than .25 calliber...allowed sign over of Doe tags....went to a computerized licesne system.....welll that on I didn't like....I ust to look forward to seeing the stamp art and saved my old licenses...lol The world wouldn't fall apasrt if we allowed baiting, hunting with dogs, poison pods, high fence, night hunting, or a variety of other things, either. Should we enable all of that, too, since you are so interested in change?
  18. Nope....you have proven my point. You draw the line at string and arrows. That is YOUR principled dividing line. Mine is hand held and hand drawn. Do not insist you are right ..... you cannot dictate my principles to me.
  19. Sure you do....you just refuse to acknowledge the principle. Kinda dishonest, there.
  20. No doubt. But the process was the same....as in no different. Shooting my bows, whether recurve or compound, require a totally different process than shooting a gun....or a crossbow.
