Ive used several shotguns for deer including a Browning Double Automatic, Browning A5 16ga (couldnt hit ANYTHING with that gun and sold it) and a Remington 11-87 with cantilevered rifled slug barrel which I sold last year. The last one I have is an 11-87 with a smooth slug barrel. I may also explore a rifled choke for my Winchester SX3

One thing a saddle requires that I absolutely can not do is TAKE MY TIME. When I get to the base of that tree I simply can’t relax, lay out the saddle and sticks (or hang and hunt platform) and steadily set it up and ascend. I’m literally having a panic attack until my climber is on the tree and I get a few feet off the ground. Then I’ll sit for a few minutes if I’m sweaty and relax before finishing the ascent. In the afternoon I don’t take that break I need to be up there and ready. I wish I could shake that anxiety but I can’t.
