  1. to me it doesnt look anything like the campus buck other than its got a huge rack lol
  2. the scariest thing ive ever encountered in the woods was another hunter sitting against a tree 10 ft away in the dark. i was 12, first time in the deep woods in the dark without a flash light. i thought at first i was seeing things and diregarded it as a funky looking tree. then 10 mins go by after sitting there against a tree opposite the one in question and after much debate as to whether i was crazy or not i was convinced it was a person. i said, "hello?" and got no response. after multiple attempts and no responses i was thinking holy crap is this happening!? I thought i had a dead guy on my hands. i then stood up and started to make my way to the tree in question and finally he spoke up and said "hey"...... this mother-f-er sat there for ATLEAST 15mins did not move or say one word until i moved towards him. Undoubtedly the creepiest thing ive ever had to deal with deer hunting. It ended up to be one of those situations where he was hunting land he wasnt sure about. figured hed set there motionless/silent and hope i moved on. well after talking to him he told me he had permission from the land owner to be there and i asked who the land owner was... knowing it was my family, and he gave me a made up name so i politely asked him to go back to where he came from and if he wanted to hunt there that bad he can ask my dad for permission. After that i was glad i didnt walk in with a flash light on. how creepy would that be walking and then flash a guy sitting there against a tree. atleast in the dark i had shadows and my peripherals, i prefer that over a light where it makes everything black outside the light of the flash light. now i carry a flash light and only use it when i suspect something or feel something is out of the ordinary haha
  3. they were killing my chickory/clover plot 1.5 weeks ago after the first few frosts but since the hard frosts the chickory is wilted and discoloring now and havent seen crap in it.
  4. just a note on scent killer. my buddy had finished off a bottle of code blue doe urine, used some scent killer to clean the bottle, and must have not gotten all the scent killer out of the glass and filled it with fresh doe urine. needless to say it killed the entire bottle of doe urine. it was incredible, i have full faith in scent killer now haha
  5. no doubt its on in 6s and 6p too. ive seen 3 great bucks locked on does, it was like the does had them on a leash.
  6. couldnt agree more. went out spotlighting last night. saw a beautiful 10 point (130 +-) locked on a doe in a field i hunt over then another nice 8 with a 19 inside spread and some junk also all over a doe. would never know it since im out hunting 24/7 and havent seen a thing for days since the last frost on saturdayish. couldnt believe it was 58 degrees at 8 at night last night. cant wait to sit tonight.
  7. Why wasn't all this taken care of when the post grad coach or current qb coach walked in on the guy molesting the kid in the first place!?
  8. Wow I guess I'm right on cue with everyone else I thought I would be the first reply... was worried I was wayyy off
  9. Ill take a stab at it although I have no clue how to score a buck properly, and certainly don't take it personal haha but ill say 47 "
  10. Missed an opportunity at the big man on campus rompin around the neighborhood. Was in a stand I didn't particularly want to be in, sat down at 230 and had to go to a wedding reception, so six o'clock rolls around I haven't seen a thing figure id better head in so I'm not rediculously late to the reception (started at 5). Step out in the field I'm hunting and make sure there's no deer, took five steps and a doe jumped out the woodline my stand was in 80 yds away followed by 2 fawns. Then I hear a grunt and now I'm really mad. Out jumps the 8 everyones been talkin about. Now I'm. Extremely mad. He got about 45 yds in front of me then walked into the woodline because the doe took off and he was oblivious as to where I was but new something was up. I collected myself and walked home kicking myself the entire way. If only I had sat in my stand for no more than 5 more mins I would undoubtedly have had a shot at him. Well it made for a good story and motivates me to wake up every morning. Thought for sure he was gone its been weeks since I last saw him. And when I did see him he was standing in a shooting lane 20 yds or less from a stand I can see from my back porch. Couldn't hunt that day I was coked up on hydros from surgery hahaha his antlers were ginormous that day
  11. deer city usa consists of 25 mins of ads and 5 mins hunting...screw that. I do like buck commander though. Who's the professional hunter who's in jail for animal cruelty or stuff along those lines? I guess he was playing puppets with animals he killed plus other things I'm not sure? I could only think of tred barta being a prime suspect for those allegations haha
  12. shot a coyote the other day. went out the next day to a different stand again saw 2 more, then again last night i saw another, andddd my buddy who hunts land a stones throw from mine had 2 grey fox. but yet i see the deer routinely, just not when im in my stand haha
  13. i have a contour "helmet" camera that i have attached to my bow stabilizer by way of those heavy duty lobster rubber bands. Its a great spot completely hands free, just leave the slide on record and turn the power button on when i see deer. this eliminates any sound when the camera is powered up. i would have some sweet video of a doe and her 3 fawns mowing down my food plot the other night but apparently the sd card was backed up with other content and nothing recorded. i will be posting clips as soon as i can get a deer in front of it lol
  14. Because we are humans and can be very destructive without regulation there would be no deer or very few of them just like before the DEC came to be. After reading peoples arguments and getting a feel for where other people come from I'm not sure I am in favor of ARs. Someone mentioned highgrading the herd with monster 4pnts... makes sense. As to why the DEC has elected use ARs, I'm not sure, I tried to make an interpretation earlier in this post.
  15. One heck of a buck!! Word spreads fast I've heard about this buck since opening weekend from probably 4 different people all with ties to the shooter. Also seen a few different pics of it. Great deer would soil my pants if I saw something like that!!
  16. ...when you use your girlfriends tampons for scent wicks.
  17. I have been using under armour too, and I cant get rid of it either. I try and save it for the coldest of days only. doesnt take much for me to sweat... shit i sweat eating ice cream.
  18. thats a really cool experience!! Last year I had a potential wall hanger a few hundred yards away in a field i was hunting over and was able to rattle him right to me, then because he was getting so close and since i was in a custom made ground blind i didnt dare rattle and give my exact position away so i grunted a few times when he would either turn his head away or disappear momentarily out of sight and that put him on a string right to me, never did get a shot off as I was running out of daylight and could no longer hold my bow back before he was within range.
  19. believe me i hunt for meat, but its also nice to see nice looking deer roaming the woods and to have opportunities to harvest one. thats hardly possible like in my situation where i was told face to face by another hunter in the woods that, "...bow season I usually hunt for antlers but come gun season if it walks within range and its brown, its down..". That type of hunting mentality is why the state has to get involved, not specifically for ARs but in general because most people just dont think and have that me me me greedy attitude and ruin things for the rest of us. Now Im certainly not saying that anyone on this forum is like that, I actually think giving the benefit of the doubt that the majority of people who spend the time on these forums discussing hunting, tactics, deer management etc. are a small percentage of the people that actually follow the rules and respect the deer and fellow hunters. Im also certainly not saying people for or against ARs have that me me me greedy attitude either, in a perfect world we wouldnt need intervention from the state through the DEC and all these rules and regulations and we could harvest what ever the heck we want.
  20. i have had very good luck rattling this time of season, generally a week after opening of sz.. rattling blind and getting deer within sight to my stand. cant say ive had any luck with the bleat can. is there any technique to the can or do you just let it go through its entire cycle each time?
  21. no not at all. I just know that its fact around where i hunt after my neighbor who walked under my treestand one afternoon flat out said to me that if its brown its down. And his good buddies are some of my neighbors and with past experiences with some of these people outside of hunting its safe to say they follow the same rule.
  22. looks like you could filet his neck into steaks if you ever get him! haha
