the best fall days are the ones that rain most of the day on and off then quit during prime hunting hours and the sun comes out. seems like EVERY time that happens i see the most deer.

Looks like the Columbus Day Youth season is on!

lol i know right. its a damn shame because i like to be friendly, which is the case with a few of my neighbors. we tell eachother what deer we see what bucks we have on camera. really helps to pattern deer and is a useful scouting tool. -

i know one thing.... ill be out everyday from October 1st on and i will be taking note of the number of shots heard, and the number of shots heard on the youth hunt weekend. if the states math is anywhere near correct at 8000 participants, i can expect little to no difference, which i am hoping for. if it sounds like opening day of gun ill be one pissed off bowhunter. and any shots that make me jump out of my skin im throwin blaze orange on and finding the source. knowing who owns the land, what land i have permission to hunt, who hunts who doesnt in a 1 mile radius around my property there is no way my lovely neighbors will take a youth out to shoot "their" deer, because thats the kind of people they are. it wouldnt surprise me one bit if they took the opportunity to use that weekend as cover for them to take deer illegally. now before anyone jumps on my back.... ive met a few of my neighbors, who hunt, under my own treestand. they seem to be oblivious to the color yellow and completely illiterate, if i wasnt armed myself i would be very nervous in the woods by myself with them. 2 of them as "youth" while out small game hunting actually raised their rifles at my mother walking the block and chased her down and harrassed her on their four-wheelers. lucky for them the trooper who showed up was the ones friggin uncle and they got a slap on the wrist. so yea i have very shady unethical neighbors and the youth weekend to me just seems like a perfect opportunity for them to get away with an easy hunt. -

any tips where to purchase any sort of hard mast producing trees? im particularly interested in sawtooth oaks, and the dunstan chestnut -
ive made mock scrapes using my own piss and it definitely works. i never kept up with it as i did it in an area i dont normally hunt as an experiment. with that said if i have to go ill go right off the stand. i dont know if i would take the risk, but i know someone who during gun could not hold his bowels a second longer in the stand. he ended up walking as far away as he could stand it before leaving a respectable deposit in some golden rod. turns out 20 mins later 2 shooter bucks come out with there heads out sniffing the air and walk right to the pile and stood their sniffing long enough for my friend to get a good laugh and shoot the better of the 2 deer.

i have a button buck this year that i know was born this year on time maybe even a little early, he has a twin sister. but hes got nubs just like yours and is rapidly approaching the size of the does hes with to the point it makes it difficult to figure out who is who. knowing that i would say hes an early born deer. i would think he would get confused as a year and half if he was a late born deer from last summer.

have you given him a name yet? how does Rib-cage sound, cuz thats all i see a top his head hahaha

they just chopped the corn around me and whatta ya know a day later i look out and i have 6 deer mowing down my chicory and brassicas, were out there from 530 till i couldnt see no longer due to darkness. thats the most ive seen at any one time on my plots and the longest they've stuck around. i took note of the date they began chopping and am interested to see if the number of trail cam pics goes up.

i was told the blazers are better for faster shooting bows and offer more speed, and the long vanes are more stable and good for low poundages, the bow shop where i take my stuff and my girlfriends, made both our sets of arrows and after wondering why i got the blazers and she got the long vanes we asked and thats what we were told.

that first buck... i cant make heads or tails of his antlers, got something weird goin on there! -
when i see people in gander or dicks decked out in their hunting garb and make it obvious they just got down from the stand or are on their way to the stand i think to myself.... welp, looks like the deer are safe with them in the woods, and go back to my shopping. but about hunters out shopping.... i bought a hang on stand from dicks the other day, field and stream was the manufacturer cant remember the model name but it was $99, had a very comfortable thick padded seat and back rest along with arm rests and the edge guard on the front of the base. very happy with it, its comfortable, light and was easy to install. only bad thing i can say about it is the arm rests are attached by two hand turned bolts (plastic knobs on the bolt head) that are like 8mm bolts..... first thing i thought when i saw that was boy that looks weak. then when i got it in the tree not even thinking about it i went and sat down got comfortable like i normally would in the stand and nearly bent the bolts in half. no big deal though i welded them solid since the stand wont be coming out of the tree.

its gotta be tough being a non liberal or anybody with a decent head on their shoulders living in NYC, i feel like its a liberal mecca down there. and nothing against people from down state what so ever, but damn the city is like a malignant tumor for the rest of the state. -
its just like being allergy free one spring and the next spring you cant step outside without your face falling off. be careful because one day, maybe not tomorrow or 10 years from now id be willing to bet you end up just like me if i were to roll in the shyt

a pin head of poison ivy is enough to infect 500 people. say you kill a vine of poison ivy, the leaves are dead the wood is dried... ITS STILL POISONOUS, urishol (spelling) oil will still be in the wood the leaves and just as effective as if it was alive and well. that blade you used to cut the vine to kill it, its been sitting in your shed for 30 yrs with no use.... yea the oil on it from the vine is still good to mess your day up. i get poison ivy every year, i swear its inevitable. best way to fight it is just go to your doctor and theyll prescribe you an antibiotic. the simplest most cost effective way ive ever found to deal with it is to right after i feel like i have come in contact with it is to take a saw dust bath in the areas of suspect followed by a cold ass shower. no dawn, no soap, grease cutters seam to help it spread. but hey, if you get it, scratch to your hearts content, cuz once its in your skin its there and there is nothing you can do about it and you cant spread it on yourself or to anyone.

The Tyrant Bloomberg Strikes Again

i just went through the drive through window at KFC and bought a MEGA sized drink of mountain dew. it was SOOO BIG it came with a BUCKET HANDLE and didnt even have a hole for a straw, just a closable gaping hole with a nicely engineered ergonomic path for the soda to go down my throat. GOSH DARNIT IT WAS AWESOME only in AMERICA can you find shit like that GBA BABY GBA. for one I cannot believe this bloomberg douche is getting away with his dictatorship, and two, i can think of a million other worse and more important things to address in the city of NYC than what size drink i am allowed to buy. if i was a NYC citizen i would exercise my right to overthrow such a POS government. the day will come when the people can take oh so much shit spewing from big governments ass and things will change. i dont mean in an election either, probably wont see it in my lifetime, though i hope i do 'cause lord knows something needs to happen. -
according to the DEC there are no Mtn. Lions in New York..... but i dont believe everything that comes out of peoples mouths either. but a closer look at the ears you can see the black ring and pointed look from the long hairs at the tip of its ears making it a bobcat, incase the first pic without a tail wasnt enough.

my "dish to pass" for the deer
mxsmitz201 replied to mxsmitz201's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
yes it is, infact thats where i got the idea from. i am going to leave the cam out until opening day. i did however change the card when i went to put up my stand which was 2 or 3 days after i put in that cedar post and i already have deer licking the branches. so maybe ill have some sweet luck with that this year. time will tell.
