  1. For about 4 years now, I have been trying to figure out how to get a hunting/camping trip on the private land I have access to in the lower NZ. It's usually rain that kills the trip. I think I figured it out now. I want to start by saying, when I make a comment about some things, it's because being prepared for a tent camping trip can be tedious. Especially in the woods, not in a campground. Precipitation, temps, shelter, wood -and a way to process it- source, water, food and how to cook it all come into play. You can't play Daisy round a lolli-pop. I don't do full on back-country camping any more, and I miss it. But I still have places I can use a sled or even just take my time and make a few trips to get gear in and out. It sucks to have bad health and love the outdoors. It is what it is. So, lets get to my point. The camp we have set up on my buddies parents land has an area that's flat we and have a nice fire pit. But, the only spot near the camp that's flat enough for a tent is 15 feet from the fire, and it works out great for the 9x9 I bought for us to use up there. There's no room for a tarp if it rains though. Last Summer, my buddy bought a 9x7 that fits his cot and gear perfect. So that brought up a dilemma for me. He will be setting his tent up near the fire, and I will have to set up 30 yards back. To be honest, I'm good with that. So, as I am looking at tents, the same thought occurs. Weather, mainly rain. So, I have been looking at tents. I need to have something that has enough room for us both to hang out and play a game of chess or just be out of the rain. I have tarps, But like I said, they won't work in the main camp area. So, I am thinking about this tent: https://www.amazon.com/Comfortable-Spacious-Durable-Modified-Electrical/dp/B07CDCPH1D Plenty of room for my sleeping area, I have room for the bow and arrows without worrying about them getting messed up, plenty of room for my cot, enough room for a small table and setting up an area for the Buddy Heater. Anyone have any thoughts how to make this set up better?
  2. I know. LOL. I guess I just like this beer outdoors.
  3. Picked this up to take camping and forgot it. Nice brew after dinner. Why I'm sitting outside I have no clue. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

  5. My lawn is more brown then green. Has been for weeks. The last time I mowed was just using the week whacker to trip around the house, the one tree we have, and some die-hard weeds on the lawn. But, my lawn get blasted with sunlight most of the day. Barely any shade until the evening. So it gets burnt fast. It's not growing, and I am OK with that. I don't like seeing a brown burnt lawn, but will take that over mowing every 3 days with heavy rainfall. We do need rain though, for the crops people sell to the major food markets.
  6. It was a pretty good weekend over all. Hot, but plenty of water and beer helped. Pretty odd fire-pit set up, so I had to improvise my cooking. But it gave me something to ponder for about 10 minutes. Bugs weren't horrible until we put up the canopy Saturday morning, then the no-see-ums were relentless under the canopy. Those little ******* were impervious to bug repellent. All a part of tent camping. Fished early Saturday morning for a couple hours, nothing, like I already said. It didn't matter to me really, the breeze on the river was nice and I was fishing, so it was still a good morning to me. Got back to camp and thought about making a cup of coffee, then just had a few bottles of ice cold water. Buddy gets up about 10AM, not looking so good. The heat really got to him. So he was back in his rack by 11:30 for a nap. I went and got more ice, surfed this site when the signal was clear, and just relaxed. Grilled up some dogs for lunch, not bad, but gave me heartburn bad. Buddy liked them when he got up from nappy time, so it's all good. Then it was more or less just hanging out and drinking some beer. Gave our neighbors some tips when they were trying to get a tarp up for the incoming rain, and offered to help, but they said they would get it. Pretty cool people, went over and talked to them for about two hours, later in the evening after dinner. I planned on baked taters over the coals, but ended up dicing the taters up to speed up cooking over charcoal. Then grilled a couple strip steaks. Great dinner. I enjoyed the trip. Strip steaks even over charcoal in the woods beats in your back yard or a restaurant IMO.
  7. Steak was great. Crappyice, those are just plain old raspberry bushes to my knowledge. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

  10. Fishing this morning wasn't good. Nothing landed, not even a bite. Lost a few jigs, but nothing new. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

  12. Did you try the Mississippi Mud yet? I love that beer. Full on black and tan.
  13. LOL! Now that made me laugh.
  14. I'm not pygmy, so I will leave that comment alone.
  15. I agree with this! There isn't as much forgiveness to aluminum arrows as there is with carbon.
  16. We have a couple of those. We use them in vehicles to keep air circulated because our dog prefers to sleep in there rather then a crate in a tent. I thought about bringing one, but opted out. I think leaving the fly off the tent will keep heat from building up inside creating moisture in the in tent.
  17. That's the plan now. Reservation was made, so no need to get in there too early. I can just pack up the truck, head on over, set up the site at my leisure. Trust me, there will be many beers who meet their fate on this trip.
  18. It's not issues. I am talking about how things go when you plan a tent camping trip with just a couple weeks notice. No more no less.
  19. The only time my bow or gun isn't in hand anymore is during a coffee/snack/lunch break, or when nature calls. Hunting is like life, things happen fast.
  20. Was keeping track of available sites. Last night if I remember right, there were still 8, I may be wrong, as the time I checked may not coincide with the latest reservations. Tonight, there were 2 left. So made a quick call to my buddy, and made a last minute reservation. So- the site is actually booked, buddy is aware of the added cost for chip-in.
  21. I'm really not going to get in a "Pissing- Match", over this, but, most web site leave things up for an archive value. If the new age lazy people can't figure out how to actually view a real website, that's on them. It's not all about Twitter and Face Book. Over-Finished-Done-Gone-Out
  22. How would a new viewer think the sites "inactive"? New threads and posts everyday and on some topics by the hour, or even minutes.
  23. I took some time to think about this. I want a .308 in the AR platform. Then I want a shotgun and bolt-rifle with wood stocks. The shotgun would be geared as a slug gun and preferably in 20. The rifle in either .270 or .06. But, I don't see any of them happening in the near future. I did look at this the other day, not a hunting weapon, C02 pistol, but sure has my interest. https://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Dan_Wesson_2_5_CO2_BB_Revolver_Silver/2652
