Nice read and a solid rifle and caliber that he can use for years to come. Looks like the Hornady American Whitetails in the bag? My -08 loves that ammo. Congrats to dad and son today.

Sorry, I don't think full inclusion will do all that much. At least not to the extent you seem to think. The not having to draw when you have a group of deer in close issue ( ) is a small one. Many bow hunters do it and have a lot of success. I am all for full inclusion of the crossbow, as I think It may get more hunters in the woods. I just doubt it will make a higher impact on doe take over all. Many people will still want to shoot an older bigger racked buck over a doe, but will use a crossbow to do it.

Located my release, sight, and rest. While I was at Wallyworld this morning I grabbed some new broad-heads and field points in 100gr as I think I want to try and get a bit more speed. I did an oops though, I grabbed 4 more arrows I thought were a match to my Carbon Express Wolverine Hunters, but they are 55/70's and my older arrows are 50/60's. Slight weight difference and a bit stiffer in spine. Will have to see how much of a difference there is. Can't imagine much. Kind of like 2117 aluminum vs 2216, not much difference.

Had the Hopdevil ( was pretty good ) last night. Along with a few of the others. Just popped the top on this. Not bad.

Picked up my license this morning, got 4J and 4B DPM's.
-
Yep, they are only like 20 minutes from me.

Got a message from Jeremy earlier. Says I will have a package on Monday. Going to locate the small box with broad-heads, my release, sight, and field points. Dig out my last target as well. Might take it to a shop to have everything dialed in and tuned up. I think he said the draw weight was set at 65#'s or 70#'s with a 27 1/2" draw length. Need a few adjustment's on those to fit me better. Max practice yardage will be between 15-20 yards. I have close to 32 yards, but I don't want to push my luck shooting to close to the driveway. Looking forward to getting more used to a release vs fingers which I always shot in the past.

I have to double check with my buddy from NZ. I have permission to hunt their property ( just not this season ), and the adjoining 70 acres to the east. Need to get details if I can hunt that land this season, while they are logging my buddies parents land.

Just messaged me back. Nope. He won't let anyone hunt any of his property for liability reasons. I figured it was a long shot. That's no #7 so far.
-
Nope. He has people that fix things around here and we mail the rent to he and his wifes company. Like I sad, we saw him once when we saw the place and filled out the papers, then we had a leak and he came ti fix it. When I call about small things he texts me back and sends someone to look at it. Only talked to him on the phone once, when we were trying to get insurance and we needed the dates when things were last replaced or repaired. I know he has three parks, a few houses, an apartment building, and his own farm.

Sent the text this AM. No word back yet. Thinking he is going to say no.
-
Probably not. Little girl's ( well 114 and 16 year olds, I think ) across from us think hunting is barbaric. Pretty sure there might be a complaint filed. They are um, "screwy".

I have no way to process at home. We have 1 tree and it's not very big, def. not going to support the weight of a hanging deer. Did a search and found Stratton's. Not a bad price really. Anyone on here ever use them? Good, bad, or just OK?

Happy birthday. Good luck hunting down there this season.

Right you are Growie, and thank you. Gave thought to getting permission for recovery as well. One step at a time though. No sense getting permission for recovery and then not have permission to hunt the land I want to hunt.
-
There just isn't enough land IMO to go in there with a gun. Yes, I can get 500' away from the nearest building, but, I would be very limited to the spots I could set up in and be able to shoot safely. I gave that some thought. I also thought about the hit deer running onto the main road close by and getting blasted by a vehicle. These are things we have to look at when hunting semi populated areas like the one I am in. No different then living in a cul-de-sac just outside of a town or city and hunting that land.

He seems nice enough. But, can never tell. Will know in a day or two. Would be great to be able to hunt every day, health allowing.
-
He doesn't live on premises, but yeah, I don't think a beer bribe would work. LOL Just going to ask if I can bow hunt and where the land boundaries are. Pretty sure I already know the property boundaries.
-
Never been able to do that before, but sure would be nice. I don't know him very well, met him twice. I know he likes to shoot, but I don't think he's a hunter. Neighbors say he's pretty religious, so that might play into thing. Thank's all for the good luck wishes.

Took a little stroll in the woods that surround the mobile home park. Figured before I ask permission I would have a peek. Pretty think in some areas, I left them alone, but did find a few piles of deer droppings and what look some some decent runs. Will be sending the owner a text tomorrow to get info on how far his land goes and ask permission to hunt. Definitely not enough room for gun, but plenty for a bow.

The Finest Kind IPA was good with dinner. No aftertaste or harsh finish.
-
Chicken thighs on the grill with homemade tater salad.
-
Tried the Lake Placid ubu, not a fan. Only got half the bottle down. For those that like a chocolaty flavor with a bitter finish, you would love it. Might try the Finest Kind IPA with dinner.

Storms later tonight, then rain off and on through Wednesday around my area. Last weekend was rainy as well. But, for the first time the new lawn is actually green not brown.
