  1. No way! She helped me get back to a place where I was able to hunt again. After being with me for 5 years and listening to me talk about how much I missed hunting, she said so stop talking and go do it! Last year when my bow busted and I was talking about maybe going back into gun hunting, and was looking at a specific rifle and himing and hawing, she said well that rifle isn't going to find it's way here on it's own, go get it. When I came home with two guns she didn't care. She asked why two, and when I said I can't hunt turkey with a rifle she said good point. I got a good one. EDIT..Oh, and while making lamps might be fun for some, a good woman is best for others. LOL
  2. If she puts me on her list I won't be thinking of selling my stuff anymore. LOL
  3. I will have to keep my eyes open for an event like this in my area. Would be interesting to see what they say and what they plan.
  4. "Trump" - a designated suit in certain card games deemed to be higher that all other suits. There ya go, trump explained.
  5. So, this year the g/f and I decided to sell some things we don't use much or really need. Funny how the lists ended up. My List: Quad Few replica katana's I have Air rifle I don't use Pup tent I can't use anymore The G/F's List: ........................................... LOL. WTF!
  6. Very sorry Larry. May the Gods have mercy on my soul, for I knew not what I was thinking! I don't know what I would do without your insight on fishing, probably still go catch a lot of fish. LOL
  7. How is this different from Clinton's hair cuts or the toilet he put on AF1? Been going on years. With all the other crap going on today this is what you want resolved? A well over 37 year old case? How about some corporal punishment to the turds committing this same crime in the here and now?
  8. Metal head here too. I don't listen to the doom and gloom metal anymore these days though. Slipknot has been my favorite band since '99. I also like the pre-Corey stuff. Check your PM's. Burgers on the grill tonight with asparagus and simple potato chips. Not a lot of sleep lately, so it was w/e was quick tonight.
  9. Aside from taking him in and having a bow fitted, I have to agree go with the Infinite Edge. You get a lot more bow then what the price suggests. The only things people say bad about them is the back wall is a bit soft, and you may want to get a better rest then what comes with the package. Wal-Mart has the Pro Package version starting at around $300 if you are willing to order it.

I don't get a lot of slack with jigs or twitch baits. I like to set the break a bit light, maybe a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch for those.
  11. No, I don't think he did. It didn't take long for this thread to be about doves and lead in gut-piles leading to eagles being killed from lead. Looks like a cooperative attempt to get what you want. Some of us made very factual points to the first post, and then mike got twisted and wanted to either delete the thread or start a new one because he didn't like how this was going. It wasn't going his way. He even posted how dove hunters are not really on his side.
  12. OK. Well, this is posted in the "New York Hunting Regions 'Region 2' ". So, perhaps I am wrong, but that section of this site is about "Hunting" in region 2. Not about politics in Region 2. I guess time will tell if the new candidates are for hunting or against it. At this point in time, it's about loosing 2 politicians, not about hunting.

Thanks BigVal. I use the 5' for flipping. The Abu Garcia is a left handed, I use the same as an open face spinner. The Quantom is a right handed, and it did take some time to get used to. I fish a lot with 'buzz bait' spinning lures with these set ups. I just prefer the way they keep tension when fishing surface lures. The crank ratio on both are good to spin that buzzer across the surface and not end up reeling to fast and lifting it. Just a preference.
  14. You just proved my point Larry. Its political, not hunting related. Thank you.
  15. Spoken like someone who has had a one to many. You had nothing to say on this thread: http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/32062-lead-ammo-brief-go-debate/ Now you want to mouth off?
  16. Well Mike, I guess you cant read or understand how a website with a forum works. This forum has an area for everything. You posted this in "NY HUNTING REGIONS". It doesn't have anything to do with hunting in 'Region 2'.
  17. How would that be different from a light weight open face set up?
  18. So, so far, I am not alone. To make sure I am specific, using an open face ( spinner ) with a light weight set up will work just fine?

Yes I know. If you don't set the tension and break right for different lure weights you will get the crows nest from hell.
  20. Much appreciated turkeyfeathers.

Open face, closed face? Golf terms to correct a bad hook or shank.
  22. I can see people doing that turkeyfeathers. I bet your wife deals with a lot of owner error being a vet. This was a tumor and now they are concerned it might be worse then they first thought a couple years ago. Huskies are a bit prone to this. She's home, 80% of her tail is shaved and it's all bandaged up. She's doing good, a little lazy as the meds are wearing off. Huge list of to do and not to do's for two weeks. I'm just a huge worrier and a huge softy when it comes to my girl.
  23. LOL. Nothing wrong with chasing women. Thanks for the input Law. I see the allure to fly-fishing. Just not for me. I never even owned one of those baskets. I had a coupe of the old nylon stringers tied together and would walk back to get it every hundred yards.

I only have two. They are pretty old compared to what most of you are probably using. But, they still work great so why stop using them. The bottom set I have had since I was 14, it's 30 years old still my go-to. It's an old Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Pro Plus, on a 7' Zebco Rhino stiff action rod. The top was a gift from my mom when I was 21 so that's 23 years old and still catches fish. It's a Quantom Lite Combo. Reel is a Quantom QL50, on a 5' Quantom Lite medium action rod. I still love using these fishing poles. I don't fish from a boat so they are both great for 'fan' casting from shore. Caught my first Walleye on the Abu Garcia, and my first Northern on the Quantom. I can't count bass and even panfish caught on either. When the Abu Garcia was new I even used for bullhead fishing at night because it had ( it's doesn't glow anymore ) a glow in the dark tip.
  25. I have never used a fly-rod. I tried once, and it just wasn't for me. For stream fishing I just stuck with ultra-light rods and reels. Thinking of getting back into stream fishing after a long time ( I got more into bass fishing and never looked back ), so just curious what people think. Anyone else fish the streams this way?
