  1. So, will you be in Albany on 4/12 Mike? Actually, where are you from again? I might be wrong, but I think you mentioned in a thread you are from WNY.
  2. Good news greg54. Glad things are still in remission.
  3. Well Obama certainly isn't doing anything to stop them either. In fact, he is doing everything he can to more or less help these fanatics who are killing innocent people all over the world just for the hell of it. I am not really in fear of nuclear war anymore. The 80's are over. They push the button, then we push the button, then everyone pushes the button and that's all she wrote. Everyone dies and no one wins.
  4. So what will the point be? Hillary has committed everything but actual treason and she still has a huge following. What will the memoirs of a dead hooker prove? Sounds like a made for TV Lifetime Channel movie.
  5. What do you want us to reply too? The over all of these bills? If we agree or disagree with them? So are we to think there will be a Moose season here in NY? I don't think we have enough of them to put a season into place. JMO. Why give this area an extended season? What is it you want us to reply too?
  6. This is from Channel 6 News. http://cbs6albany.com/news/local/schenectady-police-investigating-threat-made-on-social-media They aren't releasing much info. News was no help and neither was the web on this one. They haven't even released if was domestic or not. Some kid used Facebook to send a message to the district's page saying he was going to shoot up a school between 10:30 and 11 AM yesterday. They had to put a bunch of schools on lock-down because he didn't say which one. Something like this will put your backside in a pucker if for no other reason that the whole world seems to be going bat s*** crazy. This was all about 3 to 4 miles from me.
  7. No lie here, the private land I hunt in the NZ the owner has about 7 peacocks. I think the g/f has some pics of the adults and a few babies from two years ago. If she kept them I will post a couple. I really though this was a joke call. I have no plans on buying one, but I thought it was interesting to say the least.
  8. This sent a chill up my spine as I live in the area. Just caught it on the news. http://news10.com/2016/04/04/rotterdam-police-investigate-social-media-threat-made-about-schalmont-csd/
  9. Here's a thought......... Vert bow two weeks, traditional and compound. Season from Oct. 1st through the 14th. Then from Oct. 15th through Dec. 31st you can use a crossbow, ML, shotgun, rifle, but no traditional or compound bows.
  10. Those things have made me yell out loud and run a few steps backwards. Jumping a deer has almost given me a heart attack in the dark as well.
  11. OK, I am not even sure where to start this one. My glass pot call got here a day early at Wallyworld. I go get it, come home open it to find it was cracked. Back to Wallyworld and because it was a defective product it would have been two to three weeks to get a new one. I said no and opted for a refund. So, I hit the web waiting for the snow to let up. I came across a few articles about peacock calls for shocking a gobbler. I really thought is was a joke. Apparently not. Even up here with no tropical climate a peacock call can work. Anyone here ever try one of these calls?
  12. I can't remember ever having anything that fancy. Just a single front bead site. The shotgun I have now is the first to even have fiber optic on a field barrel. LOL Beer can would work, been done for years by many a hunter. The last time I did something like that I used a 2 liter bottle, taped a peice of paper with a turkey head and neck drawn on it and taped to the bottle to check density.
  13. Happy birthday Jeremy. Hope it's a great day with some laughs and good food.
  14. My girl. I just put both pics in one image. Top pic is from X-Mas Eve a couple years ago. Bottom pic is from a camping trip early last summer. If you notice, she is guarding my beer gift in one and the steaks I am cooking in the other. LOL
  15. Grolsh in the cork top bottle! Then Stella Artois and Heineken. I mainly drink Bud though. I buy different beer from time to time depending on what looks good in the cooler. If I am camping, where I tend to get carried away and often pop a top around noon, it's usually either Bud Light or Coors Light.
  16. Not really. You are are not technically a resident of NY anymore.
  17. It wasn't about the crossbow. It was about deer hunting in general. It was about more or less, if you think the DEC is doing their job and if you have made clear to DEC how you feel.
  18. Just a question here, But doesn't patterning depend on your sights? Patterning depends on the sights you have. If you are using a scope, dot, or even a peep or rifled sights you can move them to get dialed in. If you are using the bead site that doest move, you have to figure out where the pattern is hitting and learn to aim accordingly.
  19. I know. I am just trying to understand solid reasoning of the opposition. I could see the complaints if air rifles or ML's were added to the archery season. But a crossbow? Like I said, if hunters want the woods to themselves, knock on doors and get permission to hunt private land, get a lease if you can, or buy land.
  20. What solid reasons have been given for protesting full inclusion? In either thread? 1-"I don't want 'clowns' hunting my area.". 2-"These 'clowns' will treat a crossbow like a gun.". 3-"It will add hunting pressure!". 1- If you don't want 'clowns' hunting your area, knock on as many private land owners doors as you can find and ask permission to hunt that land. It takes 5 minutes to ask someone for permission to hunt land. Or get a lease. 2- I highly doubt that. You cannot "spray and pray" with a crossbow. 3- If ten people in your area buy a crossbow and start hunting, it will not mean any more pressure then if ten people buy a traditional or a compound bow*. *Side note; If you are hunting a 50 acre piece of public land and have an issue with other people being there, find a bigger spot. Even this post makes no factual basis, but it does lean on common sense and a want for the sport to grow.
  21. I have wanted one of these chairs for a few years now for camping. G/f caught a sale and got me one as an early b-day gift. Now, after dinner when we are camping the only time I have to get up is to put more wood on the fire and to use the potty!
  22. I thought a traditional bow and a compound were both considered vertical bows? <`shruggs`> As for elitist hunters? I guess I am one of those, because I want the preservation of hunting to continue for anyone who wants to hunt to be able to, and for the right to choose what weapon they take on a given day in accordance to the season. Trust me, people who look hunting as a whole are a dying breed. If you want the tradition of hunting to continue and be passed on, you need to look at the whole spectrum. Not act like a mule with blinders on. I don't get the fuss over the crossbow. Just another reason for people get into tinkling matches. Anyone have any factual bases as to why you are opposed to full inclusion?
