Happy b-lated birthday Pygmy. We all have our 'secret' bait, but I am not sure that type of 'worm' is legal......LOL

Nice pics eddie. Looks like a nice size red you have there. That buck with only one side left looks like he's sayin' "Really dude!"

Sorry to hear that TCIII. Yep, an animals tails is so flexible that when it gets injured it's watch, wait, and hope.

Thanks turkeyfeathers. G/F just called. It was bigger then they thought, so a 50/50 chance it might be malignant. Having blood-work sent out. She came out good, can come home around 4PM. Have to watch watch carefully for a few days for effects of the meds, and for a week to make sure she doesn't rip the stitches out. Being on the tail this is a big concern due to how much it bends. If she pulls them out we have get a skin graft to close it up.

People are posting less because because most threads end up just like this one did. In an full on font war. Most people in here are guilty of being opinionated at times, almost all of us are sarcastic smart-asses, and loud ( myself included ( we are New Yorkers ) ). That and most of the threads about hunting are flooded out to the bottom so those that just read the top 5 or what's new threads don't see the hunting threads. I do give you an 'A' for effort on that one though. I am not opposed to dove hunting. I signed a couple petitions for it. At the same time, I really wasn't on a side. I just felt as long as it's not endangered who am I to tell someone they can't hunt doves for food? I guess I was always 'neutral' but, was able to 'see both sides'. As for more surveys or debates about lead VS non-lead, they will end up just like this thread. Most people won't bother as they just want to be left alone to hunt with w/e they want to hunt with, so you end up with the same people spewing the same statements over, and over, and over..........and over......... The one thing you get from threads like this, you really see the people who care about hunting as a whole, and the people who only care about certain areas within the sport. That is the sad part.

Nice. As for moving back? Why? LOL

I have never really used much pressure, just enough to get the right sound. Last fall I was down behind the land owners house before light and made a few calls, then called a few times for about an hour with no replies. I moved to a different spot for a few hours then broke for breakfast around 10am. My buddy saw me come from the direction of our camp and said I was in the wrong spot. His dad heard turkeys behind the house real early. LOL. I told him that was me calling. Not skipping the striker is a big part of it. I still do it once in a while.

What does this have to do with hunting in Region 2? It's political.

Had to put a cone on my girl a couple days ago. She got a growth on her tail a couple years ago, vet said it wasn't malignant, but she's started chewing on it causing it to bleed. She goes to have it removed on Friday. She never comes into my office when she needs to go out. She sits in front of the door glaring at me. LOL Today, she came right in bumping me as if to say 'Look pops, I got this thing on my head so you better take me out right now!" I took a quick pic and then we went out in the yard for a bit.

Huh?

This thread was very informative, everyone gave solid info and great tips on how and why to use certain calls. I hope it keeps going. I know certain calls are better for soft talk, I have found the amount of pressure I use with the striker can produce 'soft' and 'loud' as I refer to it. Anyone else use pressure from the striker to get a desired sound?

FIrearm/Rifle Limit?
DirtTime replied to CFD914's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I can see why this new bill might get some people panties in a bunch. "I should be able to buy any firearms when ever I want, it's my constitutional right!". I agree with this opinion. If I but a rifle today, and two days from see a shotgun I really like I want to be able to buy it! But, in reality, that's not 100% accurate. The Second Amendment states it gives citizens the right to bear arms, but there is nothing stating how many firearms you can own. The Government found a 'loop-hole' and may be trying to exploit it. Now, lets look at this new bill from a perspective of the 'New World' we are living in. We have terrorists of all kinds, some were born here, some are full citizens, and others who have been decreed 'safe' and given the right to own a firearm. So maybe this is an attempt to keep people who may be a threat from building an arsenal. -
I am not discounting or saying anything against other pot calls or strikers. Please don't take it that way. For this spring, I am just staying with what I know and have used, and will get other calls down the line.
-
That's awesome wooly! The two of you can wear matching shorts. LOL
-
I think for this Spring, I will just use my slate, and pick up a hickory striker at a local shop.

DirtTime replied to CFD914's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I wasn't trying to stir the pot, but when you have info about something new it would be nice if people would post the link so we can see it. It would save on misunderstanding like this. JMO. -
E-Mail sent to D49 and D44.

FIrearm/Rifle Limit?

That's not actually 'public', that's to members. Public would mean everyone can see or read about it. I found this from Maine- http://www.sportsmansallianceofmaine.org/gunrights.html But the link to Ny doesn't work. So I guess I will head over to the NY Times. Thanks for the info Culver, much appreciated.
