Did anyone else mount their quiver with the arrows pointing down?
DirtTime replied to BowmanMike's topic in Bow Hunting
I have seen two piece quivers you can mount that way. If I put my quiver on upside down, it throws off all balance, and the arrows are so high over the bow they catch on everything walking in or out. I rareley shoot with my quiver on the bow, but I always keep the tips pointed up. -
I wasn't trying to be a dick. Just making sure that jab wasn't at me. Not sure the library guy can do those things. But, I could be wrong. If the forum is set up to allow a person to create multiple accounts on the same email address, then yes, that's possible. When I had sites, I always had things set up to only allow one email per account. So no "ghosting" or "trolling" accounts on one email. I want to make sure folks know, I am not bagging on the site owner, I just felt a need to post about the approved members issue.
-
Did you seriously just take a poke at me? I'm thinking you aimed that shot at someone else. If the owner didn't want folks to change their name, then in the options for the over all forum he should have checked the box to not allow name changes when it was set up. Seriously, setting up a forum isn't all that hard on the back end. Maintaining it can be a PITA, and getting a staff is even more of a PITA. Name changes do not alter the date you joined, and all the posts you make prior to a name change are still there. If people are having an issue getting approved to this site and been waiting over a month, while oapiastos88 was approved on 9/22, there's something fishy in the swimming pool and it's not Mary Jane Rottencrotch.

This seems odd. The person in the link below joined on 9/22. Selective approval? https://huntingny.com/forums/profile/10599-oapiastos88/ Been reading this thread here and there. Owner of a site with a store should be around at minimum to make sure sales are taken care of. Just my thoughts. Best of luck getting this sorted to all who ordered merch.

Big congrats Jay! Just read the the harvest thread post, way to go!

28 years of marriage, I guess I can miss some bow hunting
DirtTime replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
Congrats on 28 years! -
I have only been out once for a 3 hour sit Thursday morning. Last week was busy getting supplies to rebuild my kitchen floor. Thursday I had a small window and took it. I would have loved to have been out yesterday! It was cold with a hard frost here in the morning and I know the deer were moving! But, alas, 8 hours ripping up old particle flooring ( so much fun ), and putting new wood down. Today was putting down the under layment, and getting the tongue and groove in. Almost 12 hours of this crap. Still have a small area under a bay window to finish up tomorrow. My back is screaming at me so bad It's giving me a headache. I should be out later in the week for a couple hunts weather allowing.

Congrats to all those who killed deer today. -
It came out great. No crock pot. Smoked from 8AM to 5PM on the pork. Pulled nicely. Tossed in some Sweet Baby Rays sweet and spicy. Had the neighbors over, and they took doggy bags home with them. It was a lot of food.

WOOL! Keeps you warm even when it's wet.

I have a window to get out tomorrow morning for a sit! This is my "opening day". Looks like the temps in the morning will be in the mid 40's, with an ESE wind at 5-15 MPH. I guess I will be setting up behind a rock wall I like for rifle, but not so much for bow. Oh well, I will be out! -
Thank you Bill. That was last year, and not meant for this "throw down", LOL. I will get footage. Making videos has helped me get back into doing things I lost in my outdoors time, it helps push me a little. I enjoy it, I don't or never will monetize my channel, and I don't care if I get a billion subs or likes. For me, it's not about being popular or making money! It's just about GETTING OUTDOORS!
-
Forgot to ask, what's the link to your channel NFA-ADK? You made the challenge, so you have to be in it right? I'll be heading out tomorrow for a morning sit for the first time this season. I don't know if I will film, take pics, or just enjoy 'my opening day'.

At least a few got out there. I was looking forward to some dead deer and bloody arrows. Red, you just ain't right, and I like that. That pic had me LMAO! Biz- Really? War paint and a light grey shirt in a blind? Just busting here, at least you were out there. I have one, maybe two more days to live vicariously through this thread until I am in the woods. Tomorrow is a new day, good luck out there folks! -
Anyone Else Already Makeing Plans B,C,D, Etc. ?
DirtTime replied to DirtTime's topic in Deer Hunting
Yep! That's why I started the thread. A base root of hunting is being adaptable. I have gone in set up, then the wind changes 20 minutes later. -
If I had a plane I would bring you a new purse in Hunter Orange so you don't loose it next time.
-
Hey, I'm not the one who lost his purse Patricia.

Good luck to everyone heading out in the AM. -
You WNY dudes scare me. Thongs, bunny suits, most of your GTGers are in a bar. I wonder if the Goat has glory holes in the rest rooms.

I always have different plans ready. I also always keep modifying them to suit weather and how much time I have to be out hunting. -
Not pushing it this season but, I am still working on different plans for different areas. Where to sit, what area to hunt, and how to play the wind in my favor. I like to have options for weather. What say the masses? To early to make sure you have different plans for a hunt?

I'm in. I only have three actual hunting videos up on my channel ( 4 if you count a tree rat hunt I did a couple weeks ago camping at my buddy and I's backwoods camp in the ADK's ). I planned of filming a few hunts this season anyway. No way I can film the actual kill of it happened as I use my phone as my camera. I have a tripod, but learned fast the card fills up fast and the battery dies when I just leave it running. Is something like this acceptable ( not last years, I will make new ones of course )? Not sure how to film the spirit of hunting. One man show here, no film crew helping me out LOL.

Not tonight, but have a pork shoulder and butt going in tomorrow morning, as well as some baked beans with jalapeno. Sides are homemade tater salad, pasta salad, our homemade pickles, and deviled eggs.

CONGRATS! Can't wait for the pics.
