So if moogs first pic of a dead buck is a 'basket 8' on opening day, we may want to reflect on this thread.

I won't be out for 10/1 or 10/2. Hoping to get out for either 1-/3 or 10/4. The weekend of the 5th is rebuilding another floor in my home if weather cooperates. If the weather id crap then the weekend of the 12 will be the floor. I will be out as often as I can during the week after the 6th. I don't usually get to hunt all day, I can get mornings in, but afternoon evenings are hard due to being the house cook, and I don't like using my crock pot for everything.

So far the only NY team has owned that state with two teams that wanna be in NY. The Bills have owned NJ so far, I hope the next meeting with the Jets seals that up! I stopped trying to keep up with the full roster years ago, when the Bills changed players more often then they could put a "W" in the column. I keep track of a few players though. Allen is showing growth and he's learning. If they let him be and allow him to keep that up, he will be a great leader for the Offense. Beasly still has hands and makes catches. Singletary looks good, hope he stays healthy. I think Buffalo has the players to get the job done and have a good season, maybe 10-6. We have a few tough teams ahead of us. A win Sunday would be an awesome morale boost for this team. They need to stop shooting themselves in the foot with stupid penalty's. Pretty sure they are like #11 with 23 for 175 yards. That's not so good.

What are your expectations for the season?
DirtTime replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Hunting
My only expectation is being in the woods. Getting to the point where I don't give a rats backside if I kill a deer or not for this year. Focusing on learning more about the public land I hunt and locating areas other people don't go. Been a rough time this year with health, I know some others are having issues as well and I hope they are getting it sorted. So, I'm not pressuring myself to kill anything this year. Just happy I can still get in the woods. -
Leaves are turning nicely the past week or so 'round here. I had a plan to get out hiking this weekend and get some pics, re-doing a floor in my house got away from me. I think next weekend I may hit Thatcher down near the cave area for some pics, or maybe a trip back to Holt to see both the Catskills and Helderberg. The colors of the leaves are great in this state when the leaves turn.

My wife and I just took a jaunt to Stewart's. I felt like having a beer. I'm walking in and one of my neighbors is right ahead of me, we say hi. Being how I was raised I look around to see if anyone else is going in, yep, I still have manners. I hold the door for a blond dressed in a leather skirt and thigh boots, she says |Thank you sir.". As I am walking back to the beer cooler my neighbor does a 'whiplash' look back at the woman. Without thinking I blurt out "You'll get whiplash looking back like that ****.". He looks at me and smiles. I get back in the car and tell my wife what just happened. She busts out laughing as she saw **** do the look back and then smile as I walked past him. After hearing what I said to him she couldn't help but laugh. I guess you had to be there for this so make sense and be funny, but It cracked me up.

I miss that. I was shooting CCI Stingers, and the new cans aren't heavy enough to even make them break up on impact. It was still fun plinking, but not like the old days for sure.

A couple weeks ago while camping my bro and I decided to plink some cans with my .22LR. Had an issue with some ammo and switched out to different rounds. The can my buddy shot at bounced once when he hit towards the bottom, but the can I was shooting at didn't move. I was like WTF! I know the rifle hasn't been bumped or dropped, so I was baffled. After inspection, I was hitting the can, but it wasn't moving at all. Anyone else ever have this happen?

Brush blinds on the ground. A couple weeks ago I was able to get up on the private land I hunt in the ADK's and get a few more made, so my wife has a little more concealment in her preferred spots. After the logging they did a few years ago, I had plenty of brush to get it done fast.

I'm not sending any money for this! It will be a Jeremy K Photo Shop job. So pics will not cut the mustard on this one! A live video stream on YouTube, I might send TF a beer.

I have both RealTree and Mossy Oak, bought what was on sale. My hunting outer layer pants are MO along with my long sleeve tee shirts. My my upper body mid layers are RT, so is my coat. Before that most everything was just woodland camo. First camo I bought was an M65 Feild Jacket and a couple pairs of Mil Spec BDU cargo pants in woodland. Been said many times, all you really need is to break up your outline. Even the red checkered wool lined coats do a little at breaking the outline up. I saw one of those a while back and really wanted it, but $140 was way out of my wallets range. If I had bought it, I would not hesitate to wear that during firearm season all the time.

Congrats to both hunters! That's called gettin' it done.

It's their job to do whatever it takes to not have to pay out. They want to take people's money but, don't like to pay up when something goes wrong. At least no one was hurt.

I want video! I want to see Law put an arrow in the red, then flip a sausage without missing a beat! Then, I want to see someone shoot a sausage onto a bun while someone holds that bun over their head. Step it up guys!

Funny. Is this real? If so time to revoke your DL A little over a month ago, a storm took out three poles in my area. Power was out for about 6 hours. Two weeks later, a National Grid truck took out a pole and we lost power for 13 hours. It was a lot of fun! Living where we have a well for water meant no flushing the toilet with no power. I thoroughly enjoyed that day, about as much and I would loosing a hand. https://www.news10.com/news/local-news/police-power-pole-damaged-in-selkirk-crash/

I say invent something new! Take a chance! Buy a bunch of tablets and strap them to trees with deer mating videos. If that doesn't work, then just go back the boring old school baiting.

Studying For Alost A Yaer, Still Going In Cold
DirtTime replied to DirtTime's topic in Big Woods Hunting
No cell reception, no internet, just old fashioned hunting. I will take pics, maybe film, but who knows. -
So you posted a video about poachers, and then backpeddle a with this? Videos like this are part of the reason those anti-hunting/gun groups keep gaining ground. I have zero respect for any poacher! Especially one who kill bear cubs! I think you could have found a much better video to use as a reference to you buying a new rifle.

Oh boy. The folks from "The Academy" are slumming into this thread. Did I just hear the Seventh Seal open? Good shooting tex.

Studying For Alost A Yaer, Still Going In Cold
DirtTime replied to DirtTime's topic in Big Woods Hunting
Indian Lake area. I have a few options, health will dictate how many I get in. Like I said in the past about this, we rented a cabin. If I take a buck, I will be removing and cooking the back straps that night. As for full processing, I will have no choice but to get it done, and get it cooling fast. Depending on how far from the cabin I am I may have to quarter the deer to get it out. This is going to be a tough week hunting. Me, my bow, and big woods. Come whatever may, I'm not putting pressure on myself, I am going to enjoy my hunts, and just hike my own hike. -
I mentioned this a while ago, I have a week long hunting trip planned for next month in the dacks. I have been looking at maps all year, and doing the web scouting thing. It has shown me some areas of interest, and I have been trying hard to learn tree identification by the leaves during the green season, because that's mainly what most Arial maps offer. Topos give you elevation features, and show valleys and so on. But, to get a true sense of what's on the ground, I will be going in cold/blind more or less. The web is great for some things, but there's no "Street View" in the woods. I cannot remember a hunt I have been looking forward to more then this trip, for a long time! It's going to be awesome if I take a deer or not. Hunting the morning and fishing the evening!

The moron in this video needs a slap up-side-his-head! Get up there and put a round in the head and stop the animal from suffering. This is why hunters as a whole deal with so much BS! No ethics to dispatch the animal in a humane way! Nothing great, interesting, or cool about this video!

Good on you grampy! Ushering in a new generation of hunters is priceless! Thank you for going this.

That gave me a full laugh out loud moment right there. I would have to think so. It does get hunted hard, mainly on weekends, but it does get the heck hunted out of it.
