Where's Papist with his breathless report about a terrorist pigeon training camp in the Catskill foothills? -

Islamberg Redux

Try doing that in Kiryas Joel. Or any of the other dozen communities exactly like it. -
I would recommend a Macbook Air. Having recently made the switch from Windows to MacOS I couldn't be happier. It runs all the Office stuff as well as my Windows machine did. It's also super lightweight, very slim profile, and looks awesome. My previous machine was a Dell touchscreen and while in theory it was great, in practice it just meant wiping fingerprints off the screen over and over and over. Personally if it has a keyboard, I prefer a pointing device like a mouse or a trackpad. If it's a pure tablet I go with touch.

Specifically I was talking to the Sterling Forest guy, asking him about parking spots. He said we have all kinds of parking areas scattered about, but if you want to park somewhere else we don't have a problem with it. Just make sure you're five feet off the white line because the Tuxedo police consider that Tuxedo property not Sterling Forest and there is a no parking ordinance along any of these roads and they like to give tickets. So that's a specific situation there, not sure if common practice across the state. Personally I always try to be as far away from the road as possible.
-
A conservation officer once told me that while the DEP might have no problem with people parking at certain places, the local police sometimes enforce the 5 foot rule. If you park in some questionable area near a public road, make sure your vehicle is at least 5 feet away from the solid white line at the road's edge. That 5 feet belongs to the local government and they have revenue to bring in.

Look's like our back tags may be a thing of the past?
Black Bellamy replied to maytom's topic in General Chit Chat
I have worn the tag on my back once. I walked back to where I parked my car and noticed it gone. It got scraped off by a branch while I was making my way through some thick laurels. I spent an hour and a half looking for it, retracing my steps, getting cold and wet. After that I always pin the tags to my pants, right below the beltline on my front left leg. I always know where it is. If someone wants to give me a ticket for that, I got my wallet right here. -
Iphone users beware/history of where you go on phone

If you're using a Mac with Yosemite OS, click Finder, then click Secure Empty Trash. To securely wipe any drive connected to your Mac, launch Disk Utilities, select drive, click Erase tab, click Security Option, select Most Secure, then click Erase button. Finally, turn on whole disk encryption by turning on the File Vault https://support.apple.com/kb/PH18637?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US This meets the DOD 5220-22M standard for securely erasing magnetic media. If you're on a Windows platform, may the gods have mercy on your paranoid soul. -
Life must be pretty boring there, nothing else to do but get drunk and stab some helpless animal. I wished the story ended with "...when the police arrived they chased off a grizzly that was feeding on the three individuals."

The woman was trying to feed her kids with public assistance money. After they get fed, they'll go to bed. Then the woman will drink beer with her friend, maybe get laid. Should her friend not have bought beer? Should he have just given her cash for sex? Would that make you feel better? Always amuses me how people get angry over nothing especially when they have zero information. They make up a scenario in their minds and then shake with anger and get all high blood pressure all over.
-
Every single generation believes things were better then, and that things are getting worse. Those damned kids are always screwing the world up! He was wrong of course. Life is much better now than in 1948 in almost every single way. Also, the article didn't say anything about chimps having the same status as humans, it's just a judges order to show cause why they should be transferred to a different facility to get better care and life.

Target shooting in a state forest?
Black Bellamy replied to fadetoblack188's topic in General Hunting
I hope they build some close to me When I lived in New Jersey they had several free public ranges, that was very convenient. I'd rather sight in there than in the woods somewhere. -

And you won't http://www.dec.ny.gov/regs/4081.html §190.8 General So for each state land parcel, you have to contact the relevant management and find out. Some are open, some are not. I would absolutely not rely on the lack of posted signs. -
Not a movie, but probably my favorite representation of gunplay on film: Also check out this one, from the 4:00 minute mark:

Zero for me I saw a couple of small does, but nothing worth taking.

Feral Cats and Dogs: would you cull them?
Black Bellamy replied to thunnus's topic in General Hunting
I see a dangerous attitude running through some of these posts, that of entitlement. I want to remind several individuals here that you are not entitled to hunt, that the woods are not yours, and that if some dog or cat chases off your deer or whatever, that's just too bad for you. I understand there are feral packs of animals, and it's the job of professionals to deal with those, not yours. You don't get to kill animals because they make life inconvenient for you. You have a wild bird feeder that attracts a cat, the problem is your bird feeder. Wild birds will find their own food, but you have to attract them to your house for your enjoyment, and then you kill animals that you provided a food source for? You're baiting in cats and killing them over bait, that's what you're doing. I allow my cat to roam outside because he is a working cat that kills vermin before they get into my house. I understand that he might be eaten by a coyote, or run over by a car, or die in some other cat-like manner. But I am fond of the beast, and so is my wife. If I ever found my cat with a bullet hole in it, I would go looking for whoever did that. -

Tony Avella plans to introduce a bill to ban the possession heavy or sharp objects in New York. Failure to wear the mitts will be considered a double-secret felony" said Senator Avella.

NY Bureaucracy at its Finest (semi deer related)
Black Bellamy replied to phade's topic in General Chit Chat
What's really sad is that changing the website to show that data is a couple of hours of work, maybe $500-$1000, and the problem is solved forever. But complying with FOIL requests for that same information means a real live person has to open the mail, go walk somewhere, print stuff out, then mail it. Takes time and it happens over and over and over again and definitely costs more money over time. I guess those other counties are more progressive that way. -
My great-grandfather had twelve children, and lost nine to influenza. My grandfather had four children and lost one to the war. My father had three children and lost none. The magic number in our family appears to be three. Any more and bad things happen :/

Is this real?
Black Bellamy replied to YFKI1983's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Oh you guys make me laugh. I wonder how much time has to pass before someone says I love the Nazis and someone replies we'll what about all that murder and the first person says well that was so long ago. And besides those guys were following Mein Kampf Old Testament. Check out this New Testament Mein Kampf, it's so much more peaceful than this other book I'm trying to badmouth. -

And thank god they rejected Sterling Forest. I live right next to that place. 3 million garbage throwing drunks every 12 months, I would have went nuts.
