Coyote or large fox? Opinions please
grampy replied to Helderberg Hunter's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I'll trade my trophy for a shot at the yote! -
Both solid choices. What will you be targeting most with it? I've read good things about the 6.5 Creedmore. But I have no personal experience with it myself. Many more here with much more knowledge than I, who will chime in I'm sure. But want to wish you best of luck with your new AR-10!

Rensselaerville NY Week of 11-24-17 Area 4H

Nice 4-H pic's! We have had very sporadic deer movement since the gun opener, above the Helderburg escarpment. My hunting partner tells me new scrapes are opening up most every night, but still little daytime movement. This is the time to get very close to bedding areas. Right up next to, or just inside the thick nasties, where they are hiding out during the daylight hours. Anyone who hunts 4-H will tell ya, any deer taken is well earned indeed. Not that they are pushovers elsewhere! -
Welcome! Glad to have ya finally join us! Look forward to hearing more from ya!

Thanks so much everyone! Made me feel so much better, after reading all the replies! You guys and gal are simply awesome!

Where's my snorkel? Lots of wet wrinkles to explore! Blub-Blub-Blub.... And if she passes gas, some hot tub action too! What more could a guy like me ask for!

You are so right my friend! Gotta say, the Doc's and staff at St. Peters in Albany, treated me very well! Top notch professionals one and all, that I had contact with! And yeah, some real cute nurses too. But I'm sure that I didn't impress any of them with my youth and vigor!.......hehehehe.

After a short stay in the hospital, to have a tumor in my bladder removed. Been following the forum a little here and there, while coming out of the fog of surgery and meds. But I'm back, and doing much better today!! Want to thank those that sent well wishes and prayers, as no doubt they all helped. I ask that the good thoughts and prayers continue, not for myself, but for a couple of others from this forum, who are fighting a much bigger battle than I. Not sure if I'll be able to get back out to hunt this year, but I'd like to, if at all possible. I have a couple spots on our property, that I can almost drive to with my truck or wheeler, for a short sit. Hopefully my grandson will come with me and we start to make memories with the Sako! Take care all. Hold your loved ones a little closer today.

Perfect fit! Way to go Tom! I'm certain John and Jolanta are thrilled he will be with you and Luna, doing what you all love to do. Happy ending!

Also like to add, and I know turkeyfeathers will attest, sometimes our greatest trophies are the ones someone else shoots!

You are too kind my friend....lol. But I still wonder what I'd do if I ever encountered something really BIG! Like your Monarch! Guess Jay and I will just have to do it, and shoot the first GIANT, that comes along. Just so we know we can!

Heck, I've gone to pieces over much smaller bucks than that!

Computers are like most everything else, ya get what ya pay for. That being said, things have come a long way in a relatively short time, as far as features, ease of use and reliability. Most any of the name brands will give you a good product that will fit into most budgets. We just got Windows 10 over the summer at work, it's really not too bad. Many members here with much more computer savy than I, that will help you out in a pinch Dom. Good luck with your new purchase! I mostly use a Samsung tablet. Works for me.

This is an awesome thread. The more I hunt with my grandson the more I understand how lucky "I" am. He will be twice the hunter I will ever be. Any time we spend together is good time. But woods time is special. Long after I'm gone, he will carry my torch into the woods. And one day pass it to his son and grandsons. Good stuff.

Cleaned mine out yesterday. But at one point, it was even with the bottom of the windows, all the way across the back seat of my truck. That does not include what was in the bed of the truck. That reminds me, I have a chair blind and a couple other things in there under the cover!

Gotta see the molars, to see the wear patterns, to age by the teeth. Congrats on the buck though!!!

There is NOTHING you can do , to where a deer can not smell you downwind. Yes, there are ways to lessen the stink, we humans put out, and that does help. "Playing The Wind", is trying to always have the 'wind in your face' while looking in the direction you expect deer to come from. Keep noise and movement to a bare minimum. If sitting on the ground, sit by a large trunked tree or brush pile to break up your human outline. If up in a tree, don't skyline yourself, as any movement can be amplified and picked up. If you have deer in the area, and you do if you are seeing rubs, tracks, and poop. Then the next thing you need to do is make it hard for the deer to smell and see you. And remember this......the deer will always be your best teachers!!!! Learn from them. Learn to act and think more like them. All this will not come right away, and will come sooner with a good mentor. But each time you venture to the woods, you should learn something new, to retain for another day or hunt. This is my 44th hunting season, and I'm still learning!!!

Congratulations to the two young hunters reeltime! The smiles say it all! This is what it's all about!

Congratulations on one heck of a nice buck! Great shot too! Way to go!

I too use the Rocky's in 800g and 1200g, and the disposable toe warmers do work great! I also buy my cold weather sitting boots, two sizes big to fit a thin and heavy wool sock, with plenty of room left to wriggle the toes when they start chilling. I also put a hand warmer in each front pocket of my pants. With all the blood flow near the groin, this helps keep the feet warmer for longer too.

Congratulations! Two great bucks! Two lifelong memories! So awesome!

Treated clothes with Sawyers, pulled a tick out of the back of my neck, at the base of my skull, just above the hairline this morning. Probably should have treated my hats too. There are certainly no shortage of the nasty little bastids, in the hilltowns of Albany county.
