  1. LOL! During my "fat" stage, 100 pounds ago, I needed my wife to pull off my boots! And would get out of breath, just putting them on! Very embarrassing for sure. Another reason why I KNEW I needed to drop some serious weight! And did. I hear you are well on your way too! Good for you buddy! I wear a size 11 for normal shoes. And always get a 13 for hunting boots. To allow for plenty of toe room with alpaca wool socks. Being diabetic, circulation in my feet isn't the greatest so they tend to get cold easily. For later on in the season, I have a pair of 1200 gr. Rocky boots, that work quite well. Also would like to spray the Mucks with Sawyers to help keep some of the ticks from making their way up to me. I'll sacrifice some scent control for tick protection! Thanks again for all the replys!
  2. Thanks Dan. I've used a boot dryer for years. I like to start each hunt with dry boots! Are they easy on and off? Water proofed well? On one property I hunt, crossing a creek is needed to get to hunting spots. That's why I was looking at the 16 inch boots.
  3. I look at these boots every time I'm in Tractor Supply. Anyone here have them? They are light weight and seem like a good boot. Are they warm and comfortable? Do they hold up well? I have never worn Muck boots. At $160 a pair, I would like to know what others think. Will be using them for bow season.
  4. Wasn't aware there was a closed season on bigfeets. Guess I learn something every day.
  5. Whata ya think they're poaching in August? This is my guess too.
  6. Can't wait to see this when it's done! I know its gonna be awesome!
  7. No better way to start the day! Nice pic's buddy! How many of those berries actually made it home?......grin.
  8. Happy Birthday! To one of the bestest, darndest, grandest, greatest, huntingest, fishingest, guys to ever associate with the rest of us bums!!!!! Only the very best for you today Larry! Have a great day Sir!
  9. Do ya weigh em with ticks or without? In some places, that could be a five or ten pound swing! I'm always amazed at the difference in bucks from the various regions of NYS! WNY definitely has the edge on numbers of big racked bucks. But there are nice bucks throughout the state! Weather you hunt for big racks, or just for meat, or for any legal deer. I think most would agree, seeing a true monarch of the woods is always a privilege and a thrill.
  10. Where is this "spot", Iowa?..................................smile.
  11. Holy Moly! Those are some awesome bucks!!! Look forward to seeing a couple of them in this years harvest thread!
  12. Fawns will carry their spots, from birth, until their first winter coat. So all the fawns born this spring will still have spots.
  13. Get that shoulder taken care of Bill. It's nearing four months since my shoulder surgery. And it's finally starting to get back to where I can do the things I need and want to do. I was pretty much useless before surgery. Not to mention the constant pain. It was well worth the down time. Beautiful Rifle at a sweet price! And thanks to moog, I'm set up pretty good with a rifle purchase for this year. Otherwise, I'd be meeting up with you in Altamont....... again!!!! Good luck with the sale.
  14. On both of mine. Unless the bolt is firmly against the string, the anti dry fire mechanism is enabled, so the crossbow will not fire.
  15. Yup that was what I'd say too. Hors d'oeuvre's for a Squach would be my second choice.
  16. Nice evening, so my grandson and I took the wheelers for a ride to the back of our farm property. Checked a couple stands, cut some paths to some ground blinds, hung a couple of cams, and just enjoyed being out there. Saw a couple bucks together, no pic, and this old gal. Everything looks good! My hunting buddy! This is his year for the first deer!
  17. Young un. No depth in the chest and belly.
  18. They may climb UP as far as the Thatcher Park no hunting areas. Where they will live a carefree existence, posing for pictures at the Scenic Overlook, until the end of the hunting season. And then migrate back DOWN the hill to your area. But they NEVER climb as far UP to get to me! We just feed em when they are young, and when they get to be three, all the bucks run DOWN the hill to your area. Just look at em! Clearly you can see they have genetics mutated for only going DOWN hill! .....wink.......smile............
  19. The old adage, buy once cry once is so true. If there is a question about it, perhaps spending a bit more for a proven rangefinder, would give you less headaches down the road. JMO.
  20. I was wrong. It's the Powerball, and it's up to 430 million. Gotta be in it to win it. Though, except for my weekly work pool, I'm never in it until it gets over 300 mil or something crazy. So I'll pick up some quick picks on the way home. And there is still a 1 in 290,000,000 chance of a HuntingNY members hunt in Africa!!!
