Good friendly mice eaters! I like to see them around my outbuildings. Not too many venomous ones around here. Every now and then I'll see a rattler on the side of the hill behind the house. Always by a certain rocky outcropping when I do see them.

First and foremost, remembering all the brave men and women who gave all to this country. Without their sacrifices,we would not live with the freedoms we now have. All politics aside, this is still the best country in the world to live in. That said, going to open the pool tomorrow. It will be awhile before it warms up enough for me to get in there. But the grandsons will be swimming as soon as they can. Funny that when I was younger the cold water never bothered me. Has to be mid 70's at least now before I take the plunge. But will sit in below freezing weather for hours deer hunting and don't seem to mind as much. Priorities!

I absolutely knew that they were not a bunch of choir boys. And at first was very intimidated by them, knowing their reputation. But I tend to judge people by how they treat me,not by their reputation. I'm sure they have done and seen things I would never want to, I am not that naive. I myself, never observed any illegal activity being his neighbor. I gave and received respect from them just like anyone else. I'm sure alot of people will disagree with me for obvious reasons. But as I said, to me personally, they were not not the monsters many make them out to be. And I don't regret having him as a neighbor.

Another frost is on it's way....
grampy replied to growalot's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
In the past week,we have had temps as low as mid 30's,but no frost here. Looks like tonight we will have a good frost though. Will try to cover what I can with plastic and hope for the best. Apples and everthing in full bloom now. Hopefully it won't get as low as they are forcasting. -
Many years ago when I lived in South Carolina, my next door neighbor was the chapter president of a very well known, worldwide M.C. I never delved into his club business, but he had a full time job and was a good husband and father. Actually he was one of the nicest neighbors I ever had. Through him,I met a few of the other members of the club and they too were always friendly to me. I could always see a very strong brotherhood between them. My personal observation of three and a half years was that they were not the monsters some make them out to be. But like I said,I didn't ask a lot of questions ether. I don't think anyone belonging to any organization should be "shot on sight", but just like anyone else if you are caught breaking the law,you should get what comes to you. Just my opinion on this subject.

Being a guitar player for more than 45 years, BB has been an inspiration to me. His blues style is second to none. His gracious demeanor on and off the stage should be an example, more of these newer artists should follow. Rest in peace BB. You will be missed.

It really does hurt to lose a hunting spot you have had access to since you were a kid. We had 350 acres next to the farm I was raised on,that we had exclusive hunting permission for years and years. After the landowner died, his kids didn't want it and sold it to the state to expand a state park. It is now open to public hunting. And that brought a slew of problems for the 400+ acres we still have. We now let the hunters push the deer from the public land to us and have been successful using them to our advantage. Nothing stays the same and you change and adapt with the changes you have no control of. That being said, being that you have lived there for many years, there is a lot you can offer the new land owners. As said above, you are there to keep a close watch on their land when they are away. You can offer help with land improvement like food plots, brush clearing, best stand placement and just being the best neighbor you can be. I wish you the best of luck with the new owners, hope it all works out for you. Sometimes change works out ok.

Great first catch pic's! You have a fishing partner for life! Enjoy every minute of these younger days, they grow so fast! Good luck with the new food plots. The ones you have now look really nice!
