  1. Looks like you had a great hike and you have some awesome pictures to remember the day! Nice job!
  2. That whole area around Springfield Missouri, is just chock full of places to go and things to see. Looks like you are mixing a little fun with business. Good for you!
  3. Even in the off season, I find quite a bit of interesting topics, like shed hunting, trail cam pic's, food plots and gardens, fishing, camping, shooting of all types of hunting implements, talking about past and future hunts and a good deal of all around outdoor stuff. These are the topics that I find most interesting on this forum! I also think the vast majority of the people who visit here feel the same. And I think this site is strong with the support of said people, and not going anywhere!
  4. I may be mistaken, but I think you posted some pictures of the ones you did for your groomsmen awhile back. If I remember correctly, they were very nicely done. And I really like your new design, and think these will come out to be just as nice, or even better. Have fun and please post pic's of the finished knives! Or even a step by step series of pic's would be cool!
  5. In all honesty, it makes no difference to me what political affiliation another hunter has, if we can share information and ideas about hunting. It also would not matter to me if they were gay, black, white, green or blue. I am always open to sharing or getting hunting, fishing or any outdoors activity, information. This is a great place to do that, with quite a few like minded people. I do have my own political views, likes and dislikes. And so does every individual that visits this site. Am I naive enough to believe that I could change someone else's views or have someone change mine on a hunting forum? Not likely.
  6. For me, I've always wanted to go to west central Canada for whitetail. I can picture a cold morning around zero degrees, a huge 300 pound buck with dark chocolate antlers, and blowing a vapor cloud as he checks the wind, following a hot doe. Not sure if I'll ever make it happen, but it's still on my bucket list!
  7. Awesome picture! I have never seen anything like it. And I'll bet it did take a good bit of planning to get that shot! Nice job and thanks for sharing!
  8. "Gays, lesbians and bisexuals are everywhere and shouldn't have to hide who they are or what they like" They are not hiding now days! Every time I watch TV,I see them. Every time I turn on the radio,I hear them. Every time I go to a mall, I walk among them. Every time I eat at a nice restaurant, I eat with them. Every time I drive down a busy city street, I see them. Every time I go to work, I work with them. They are no longer hiding! I get it, people are who they are. No problem, really! But at least let kids get out of grade school before they have to read about them. By then they will be old enough to decide for themselves, and not have it pushed on to them at the earliest ages.
  9. Don't see any bachelor groups like that in my area that's for sure ! But I remember seeing them often enough when I lived in South Carolina, years ago. Nice pic's, thanks for sharing!
  10. He couldn't afford a freezer..............
  11. Good luck on your trip! Remember, a fishermans story is almost always better than the actual fish!
  12. That is the trillion dollar question!
  13. Some of the NYB people and others who look down their noses at crossbows, should actually shoot one before snubbing them and the hunters who use them. They will then see the the effective range of a crossbow is no more than a modern compound bow and just as safe. I have been hunting and shooting with recurve and compound bows for almost forty years. And will continue to use them. But,due to shoulder issues, I started shooting a crossbow last year, and think of it as just another tool to hunt deer with. It is not some new super weapon that will make bows obsolete or kill at great distances and is very unsafe like NYB would have us all believe. NYB has their own agenda as well as NYSDEC. And both seem to me, to want to force their will on the average hunter, come what may. And the average hunter will not have any say in the decisions made because no one really listens to us.

    Beware

Did he make you actually pay for that "work of art"? Darn shameful work from a professional taxidermist.
  15. Happy Birthday phade! Hope you have family and friends in your plans tonight! Enjoy your day!
  16. That's it right there! Absolutely!
  17. Most experienced hunters, who have good woods skills, will be able to shoot a buck older than one and a half years old, most anywhere in NY state. Take the time to learn about your quarry and get back into the woods a bit farther than the next guy. If shooting an older buck is what you want, then learn to be a better hunter! The older bucks are out there if you want them! I have no problem with any hunter that just wants to step into the woods and shoot the first legal deer that comes along. But some of the hunters that say they would like to shoot a buck older than one and a half, could do so more often if they just became more skilled at hunting older bucks. DEC can change all the regulations they want, and it still will not make you a better hunter!
  18. Nice trip, looks like a good time was had by all! Family, friends and fishing, fun, fun, fun!!!
  19. Welcome Tom! Good to have you drop by. You're right about great hunting opportunities in upstate NY. What area upstate are you locating to? Would like to know more about your custom calls too. Thank you for your service and look forward to hearing more from you.
  20. Good for you, it's not easy to give them up. Don't I know!
