  1. I could be? Now you've got me wondering!? If I remembered the wrong person my bad! Carry on! Good luck getting the buck @cynthiafu Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  2. There may be circumstances that I'm not aware in her case? Just making sure she understands the laws if not... But I know she already posted that she killed a buck opening day so I'm not sure how she could kill another until late season with the proper tags. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  3. Didn't you already kill a buck? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  4. I can see how unvaxxed are higher. For example: at work if you come into contact with a positive person, you get taken out of work for a quarantine period and have to be tested in order to return. People who are vaccinated don't have to do anything, only monitor for symptoms. So essentially they are free to continue spreading the virus without quarantine or testing. Explain that to me... 5. Is that the Montec head or another G5 model? That's as much blood as I saw in all of my tracks combined. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  6. Not sure. They never felt razor sharp from the package and even G5's own sharpener didn't seem to get them sharp sharp. I wanted them to be my "forever" head because they flew great, solid one piece, in theory should've been easy to sharpen/reuse. Not to be. I'll never use them again. 7. There's a reason you don't see people flocking to NY to buy deer tags. NY has the capability of producing the same type deer that the Midwest does but we're stuck behind the times. Anytime you bring this conversation up the opponents always jump to talking about trophy hunting. QDM isn't about trophy deer. It's about overall herd health, sustainability and more diverse age classes of deer. Now, with that the trophies are benefiting also, yes. The biggest common denominator for people who oppose antler restrictions is the fact that the vast majority of those people have never killed a big buck. That's a tough piece of truth for a lot of people to swallow. What they don't understand is that with a shorter gun season you will have more deer, therefore negating the need to have to rifle hunt for 4-5 weeks in order to shoot a deer or two. You will also have a much longer archery season. I know, I know (whiney voice inserted) "well we don't all archery hunt, you're just an elitist bowhunters." Why is that dictating what's healthy for the herd? I do not take offense to someone calling me an elitist bowhunters because at least I know where I stand. Me wanting more archery season is no different than you whining that you want longer gun seasons and more implements added. Life's not fair and noone is stopping you from archery hunting. Pick up a bow and join or don't. Especially now that you can crossbow hunt during the best part of the season. The spots we've hunted (public land) for the last 20 years have seen a drastic decrease in deer, especially since rifles were allowed. It's simple math, you add more effective weapons into the season but don't decrease it's length, deer numbers will suffer. To Trial's point, the people who speak so vehemently against change have never experienced truly great hunting. They've hunted the same piece of land, shooting the same type of deer their entire lives, they know no better. Feel free to fire away. I'll respond if I get time or see fit. 8. That's not entirely true. Let's face it, some broadhead are better than others. I've used the heads he did and even with perfect shots there was little to no blood. There's something with the Montecs that allow for almost no blood. A Google search will reveal all you need to know. Will they still kill the deer? Absolutely, but they can be hard to find with a sparse to no trail. I shot 4 or 5 deer with the G5 and had terrible blood trails on every one of them. One buck went down in 75 yds but there was zero blood, even where he layed dead. I don't pretend to know why, but I know what I see. G5 Montecs suck for blood trails. 9. Count me in also. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  10. I'd wait for sure. Being that you jumped him it's highly unlikely you got both lungs. I've shot 2 deer and saw the perfect hits and saw both deer drop. But if I had gone off of arrow sign it would appear as straight guts, no guts were even remotely touched on either shot. Sometimes you can cut straight through the esophagus low in the chest and it'll leave the arrow covered in food/gut appearance. One doe I double lunged this year and watched her drop in less than 6 seconds. But as mentioned, my arrow had almost no blood on it, all good matter. But in your scenario I'd wait. If he's dead now he'll be dead later too. I'll attach a pic of my arrow this year below just for reference. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  11. There are a ton of better options in my opinion. Ramcats, Slick Tricks, Magnus, Muzzy etc. I had great experiences with Ramcats. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  12. I have no doubt you're a good guy and I didn't mean to come across as belittling your judgement. You would be free to make your own decision obviously. I don't have as much blind faith in people, especially people on the other side of a computer screen. The way people act and the way they portray online are often very different. Just trying to save you a headache if this guy was up to something. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  13. Good luck with him. If I were you I'd ditch the Montecs for that very reason. I had the same issue as you. Upon research online it's a common problem with them. No blood, even on great hits. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  14. He looked for the first after he shot the second deer is the way I understand it. I'm not willing to justify an obvious violation that anyone should've known better, to avoiding a possible car/deer collision and a freezer full of meat. He was overwhelmingly wrong and I'm not going to sugar coat it for him. He screwed up big time and there was no justification for it. The only thing I hate worse than that is the waste of an animal. I certainly wouldn't be willing to include myself in his illegal doing. For all we know he works for the DEC and is looking for someone who offered to do exactly what you did. 15. For a change I think we might agree on something. Something seems fishy... Although some people really don't understand their circumstance. Hard to say. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  16. Definitely a bad call. You'd have some tickets coming and confiscation of deer if someone finds out. Being that you came online to confess I'm going to assume it really was ignorance? Why you would shoot at a second buck without knowing if you hit the one you just shot at it beyond me. I know that the DEC would not give a damn about your bad judgement. I have no sympathy for you, that being said, do what you have to do to make it right, letting another deer rot in the woods is not going to solve anything now. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  17. Sounds like you shot a 2nd buck before checking to see if you hit the first one? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  18. That is what the DEC figures were a few years ago. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  19. I don't care if he's hunted for 80 years. That's pretty irrelevant. Time spent doesn't directly relate to being an expert. I know hunters that have hunted forever and still don't have a clue what they're doing. I'm not saying Pygmy is clueless by any means. I'm saying that because someone tells me that they're old doesn't mean they're right. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  20. How many deer are killed during gun season? How many during archery? If any bullet/arrow has the propensity to wound regardless of scenario then simple math should tell you that gun season would result in more misplaced shots. No? The average bowhunters kills 1 deer every 3 years. This "the bowhunters are wounding all of the deer" BS is outdated. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  21. If that's some sort of crack, I'm not playing your game. People lose deer regardless of implement. If you're going to argue that deer drives aren't more likely to wound deer than another form of hunting I think you should pull your head out of the sand... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  22. Forgot the pic. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  23. I guess I don't look at it as what benefits me or anyone else. I want what's best for the deer herd. Same way I look at fish bag limits, would I benefit from keeping 6 walleyes a day? Sure. Do I need to? No. Would a lot of people keep 6 fish every day even though they didn't need them? Yes. People are inherently greedy, especially when it comes to natural resources. Could I fill the rest of my deer tags this year? Probably most of them, but I'm not. Why? Because greed and conservation are two things that don't mix. Often times we think liberal limits are great, until 5 years down the road and realize that a mistake was made. That's my take on it. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  24. I'll throw out between 4.5-6.5 based off of the 2 pics. First pic isn't great for aging but the second leads me to believe it's a mature deer. Large neck, large front end. Head looks pretty big. Bit of a sag in belly. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  25. Picked up my last doe today. I take 1 per year to a buddy that processes to have some special stuff made that he does a killer job on and I don't have to mess with it. This time I went with 25lbs of salami and had him grind the rest of the deer and mix with some pork for burgers. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
