  1. I'm not really surprised, that event has gone downhill big time. Costs for the spaces there doubled or tripled in the past couple years, too. My assumption is the regional budget made this event a loser profit-wise, thus they attempted to raise prices to break even and it hasn't worked, thus it getting the axe. Not a real shocker.
  2. For something like that, the Lake Placid area is probably a smart bet - generally in the mix of being able to "get away" to climb/hike, plenty of water bodies, yet still some civilization in case the wife wants to go out for a dinner/drink, etc.
  3. You mean 90 degrees? 180 of ________ is _________
  4. These are pics from the prior Gander Exclusive, G4 I believe. They are certainly serviceable.
  5. probably bear...cest la vie.
  6. Gander Mountain has an online sale on their new in-house model of a Spypoint cam, the G8. It appears to be a variant of the Iron 10 2015 model, with the only noticeable difference being 8MP vs. 10MP - which if you understand anything about modern cams, is just a difference in interpolation software (Luddite speak = not a big deal) and not the result of different internal parts. Cam takes 720HD vids, and has solid blackflash illumination. Very simple operation. Only knock on this cam is the delay settings (goes down to about 10 seconds) and its subsequent re-arming. That shouldn't be an issue for the majority of hunters. Cam is marked down to $99.99 and free shipping. By adding a clearance item (say a Duck Dynasty air freshner for $0.78) and inputting the code GMT5 into the discount box, the price drops down to $90.77. This is a solid deal for the cam. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Spypoint-G8-IR-8MP-Trail-Camera&i=875206
  7. I bet of those people Papist, most are probably municipal/public employees. It is quite the low number.
  8. It's a 50-50 rule...merits to both sides. Probably a rule that has too much attention on it vs. the payoff/benefit/detriment (whatever side of the fence one is on).

    New bow

I have to say the Obesession bows are nice. Moog has one or had one, I forget. I do prefer the finish quality of Elite, but it was a good drawing bow. I'm still partial to Elite because I am comfortable with them and I am largely a hunter that doesn't stray into shooting paper much. Huntability remains a prime characteristic for me....also because I tend to hold on to bows longer now, I do enjoy a higher quality finished product.
  10. Sticks almost always work out better in the long run, but I know some people who have employed screwins and tree bolt systems pretty effectively. Generally speaking, every single one of these people were or are in very peak physical shape. The limit for the bolts is that most situations call for them to be pre drilled, so being able to make quick adjustments to a tree 50 yards over there, isn't easily done with bolts.
  11. Its still not about guns, self defense, liberty, etc.Whether in a vacuum or not the real issue is decision-making. Spinning it onto any other platform is misguided, so much so those bemoaning the gun free point are just as misguided as those yammering for more gun control in response to this.
  12. You have no concept that neither the "rape" nor the shooting is about self defense, liberty, or freedom. It's about decision-making - specifically on the part of the deviant. Everything that follows is consequential and sprials into the rabbit hole.
  13. I hope everyone realizes that girl chose to wear a short skirt and dress provacatively. If only she had dressed conservatively, her purity could have been saved. She'll never admit that though, because she's been raped.
  14. Nothing like a good old fashioned white guy causing domestic terrorism. I don't think Dylan Roof or whatever his name is, is a muslim.
  15. I believe the term is assembled in USA....chinese and american components assembled in U.S. End game is a factory in the mid-atlantic region for full manufacture. There's just some parts that are not currently manufactured in the U.S. available within the price points for a regular commercial cam at the moment.
  16. Its an in-house camo...saves about $5-10 a unit retail-wise.
  17. Why is "see" the standard? What is reasonable depends on the carry capacity, the property itself (all aspects of it, etc.). What is reasonable to one or fitting for one property might be off from the one next door or a mile away.
  18. Sorry, it is USA trail cams. Just left it out. And, yes, submergible ones, too.
  19. I decided to move on from Covert last year and have been assisting with the launch of a new cam line. It's been a eye opening experience into the challenges and barriers getting one off the the ground and being able to deal with delays due to time zone differences, shipping cams back and forth, tweaking the IQ, ISO, etc. I have a new cell cam en route to test. It's got a few small tweaks needed, but I will be testing out some other functionalities. Should be a good cam when said and done due to all of the research and work going into it.
  20. If you are hunting on the property, you can't use it. Many people set these cams up to monitor hunting property, whether borders or trailers or camp houses, or driveways, etc. The law states they can't be used on property while engaged in hunting.
