Agreed, that looks like a good start for Lomax. Assuming they've been planted 2-3 weeks? Almost time to hit them with some urea or N. -

We surprisingly had great germination from last week's seeding. Hoping we get just enough rain to get them through. We'll be planning to fertilize more in a few weeks. We laid down 100 pounds at seeding and probably will come over top with another 300 lbs of triple 10 across 1.5.1.75 acres. Stuff is $23 a bag right now. I think we're running down to Ohio this weekend assuming I am 100% better as well as the family. We have a few areas I want to get a plot in. Totaling under an acre but across three different spots. We've only sprayed once so I am sure it's going to be alot of work. -
We're hunting three states again this year. 2021 was our toughest in terms of encounters. We passed several 3.5 yo and the 4.5+ stayed just outside of bow range for me all year. My partner tied into a 4.5+ in MO but the deer survived with a brisket wound. Luckily I got one buck in MO and was happy with it despite it being the smallest rack I've taken in years on purpose (put down a 2.5 injured buck in 2020). By far our least productive season ever, despite having fun and having a material amount of mature buck encounters. So, I think we're looking to be more successful in short and again have fun. Second season on our Ohio ground so we know it well, and our Missouri ground is mostly set up w/stands already to use right away.

Wife is now sick, unfortunately. Headache is roaring for her and congestion setting in. I feel somewhat better, but certainly still sick enough to not even think about being in public. Congestion/cough/throat still there. I'm progressing a small amount each day. My guess is by end of weekend. Still no taste or smell.

Got it, that is a great area. It gets alot of pressure as you move further west on that road and the one that splits to the race track/campgrounds. Lots of hunt clubs that way. But right up close to that museum is...very nice. It's guarded carefully since the DEC are on it all the time, but for those who can hunt it...they have very nice walls. Personally seen 160-180" taken from it. Probably 10+ in that size range in all seriousness. Bigger woodlots for the area are there, too. Biggest in fact I think.
-
You're hunting the museum?

I was shocked when I learned how big the bucks are in and around Atlanta. SeekOne is based there I think right?
-
He's been around a while. My friends own the farm right next to the creek. You should see the deer that come off that Museum ground. Big. And Bigger.

I don't think anyone is discounting your input. I know you've posted several valuable posts on insects but also specific hunting related detail too. Don't overthink the lack of comment/quoting, etc.

Solid catch. It's a soft pass.

Rest up and take it easy as much as possible. Get some fresh air though, too. That helps every so often. Doc put me on molnupiravir today, but maybe ask about that or Paxlovid.

Reveal dominates the sub 200 market overall. You're not likely to find a better overall package of pricing, camera performance, and app solution than the Reveal line. Is it perfect? Heck no. But it's the best overall in that range. Above that, different story. Attached a sent image and a sent HD image for basic compare.

I believe our plots might be pretty rough looking this year. We disced but the ground was so hard and dry, paired with this lack of rain and who knows at this point. We went light on fertilizer at seeding and plan to monitor this weekend and next to adjust as needed. If we see enough germination and moisture then we'll fertilize later this month. Crazy summer season so far. -
I won't be going out. Ohio starts shortly thereafter for us, so we'll focus on that early season. I still to this day don't believe how 8F, 8G and 8J get in on it, but 8H is not. I'm happy to a degree, lol, but still....one has to wonder where or how that decision was influenced.

Great wedding and event you helped put on. Time flies. You are a great dad Larry. Harro East Ballroom. I immediately recognized it despite the color theme change. I have some memories there, wowsers! Dove off that stage a few times and only managed to get kicked out once.

Yeah, definitely nothing happening here. Energy levels are getting better. Still a fair amount of congestion/cough. Headache is much better and feels more like a sinus headache from the congestion rather than the jackhammer that was going on before. I have one more meeting this PM I can't miss and after that I'm going to try to rest a bit more.

Yeah, lucky me I guess. It's pretty weird. I noticed in the shower when I couldn't smell my soap or shampoo. My shampoo has menthol in it and the only thing I could sense was the "stinging" in the nose from sniffing it, but no actual smell. Food wise I've had coffee and toast w/PBJ. Hard to describe, just can't taste. I am feeling less fatigued though, so hopefully that is a positive sign.

They are doing OK. I've isolated, so hopefully that keeps risk limited from here on out.

Slept poorly last night, but fever seems to be going away. Did wake up and realize I can't smell/taste. So that should be fun to deal with lol. Weird experience. Congestion still there and headache, too, but less than prior.

I’m familiar with the impacted areas. Other states offer private landowners programs that can relieve tax burden or compensation, etc. WIHA and similar programs. The problem isn’t just people being picky, average parcel size is shrinking and more land is becoming inaccessible due to increased competition or landowners saying no because of the subdivision going on. String along a handful of small acreage homeowners and now deer can become much more capable of avoiding pressure. There’s a few people here who have hunted a particular property in that situation and people have HAMMERED does in it. I mean maxing out borrowed DMPs and all. You wouldn’t know a dent was made over a few years of it. They just kept coming. Hunter choice isn’t the biggest issue. Access is. It’s clear.

Two things. One an older hunter at the dog running club I belonged to - we was 75% Native American. Met him randomly in the aisle of a Sports Authority talking hunting as I moved into the area recently. Bob Pinto, Navy veteran. In the first five minutes he let me know he had a heart AND lung transplant the prior year. He said - you only have so many opening days so you got to make the most of it. Great guy. I owe him a lot in the short years he was around. Gives me perspective. The other is more controversial. If you’re at a 50-50 yes/no decision, go yes. Always yes. It doesn’t mean be careless. If you’re at 50-50 there has been thought behind it to rationalize the outcome. It applies to everything hunting IMO - shooting, getting up and into the woods, taking that trip, moving that stand 40 yards vs hoping that buck that just walked by out of range comes your way, etc.
-
DEC keeps hammering the same nail. More tags and season vs increasing access opportunities where the need is.

I had the cross man that looked like a full fledged 1911. Not the modern day incarnation, the full weight fare adaptation. I shudder to think what the world would say about me having one as a youngster. Did I do some questionable stuff with it? Big picture no, but I did a few times toss it in the backpack and ride bikes with the boys to a few forts in the woods to shoot up random stuff (in the woods) Got a few crows with it, pure luck. Never owned a long version and moved from that to shotties pretty early on. Even my .22 experience was limited until I was late teens.

Midday checkin...isolated in my man cave room. Glad I got it done up nice with a comfy couch. Congestion, consistent fever, and going from sweating hot to freezing cold at a moment's notice. A fair amount of coughing. The worst though right now is the headache and fatigue. I'm "working" from home with essential meetings. Luck has it I have a big meeting tomorrow morning with my direct reporting structure exec and he flew in himself and three others for the meeting....virtual it is for me.

Looks like it’s my turn. Tested positive this morning. Tested negative yesterday morning. Absolutely busted my rear Saturday in the heat and sun putting in plots. Felt lousy end of day and thought I had some heat/fatigue from putting 16k steps on disced ground. Didn’t sleep at all Sat night with sweat chills and congestion building, pretty light though. Headache city. Tested negative Sunday AM so did some more seeding and another 10K steps. Came home and at that point knew I had it come hell or high water based on how lousy I was feeling. 100 degree fever now added to the mix. Tested positive this AM. I wish I would say this is mild but I can’t. It’s ranks up there with the worst of the cold/flus/bugs I’ve had in my life. Hopefully it doesn’t last. On a side note I just bought the myoutdoortv subscription lol. I don’t watch a ton of tv but I will be this week. Might as well binge some hunting shows.
