  1. Sit all day but I'm starting to notice I get figidty around 4pm. Wrong time to get figidty. May just come out at noon and get back into stand at 1. Stay till dark.
  2. Don't sweat it. I did it few years ago on a turkey. I peeked instead of holding position until arrow hit.
  3. Don't beat yourself . It happens. It was a learning experience and I bet you will never let it happen again.
  4. I shoot three rounds usually a month before season. Leave it dirty and fire one round day before opener.
  5. I watch over the nastiest tangle of woods on the mountain on opening day. 2nd day I watch the trail headed out of said nasty tangle. I'm the only idiot I know willing to get to this area and it pays off.
  6. I don't care what mine thinks anymore. I enjoy the three months of silent treatment.
  7. Good luck dragging his fat a$$ out of the woods
  8. I just mounted a scope on my friends American in 30-06. Feels like a solid gun.
  9. I use doe in estrus end of oct to mid November. After and before that it's just cover scents.
  10. Nice buck! I like the comparison pics. From one year to the next. I think one of my trail cam bucks is a return from 2014.
  11. Food, calls, extra release, toilet paper, latex gloves and the butt-out tool. Extra knife, extra headlamp, lime fuel charger. If I sit all day, I have been reading "Midway" for last 4 years
  12. Remington 788. I have one in .308. It hasn't missed an opening day in 30+years.
  13. Nothing but bears, yotes, does and small bucks all year. Nice surprise.
  14. I have not heard a single positive thing about that place.
  15. If I lived out of the damn city I would be completely obsessed
  16. Bunch of 7 n 7's always puts me right to sleep.
  17. I want a 44 mag super Blackhawk and something in 25-06 or .243.
  18. 12ga foster slug from a mossberg 500. 23 years ago. I spined an enormous doe. I had to finish her off with a knife since the gun jammed. She was bawling and trying to get up. An awful first experience for a 18 year old but it made me the hunter I am today. I don't rush shots and if I can't see vitals the deer walks.
  19. Yesterday my Dad and I got out to the range to do some shooting. We both took our 30-30's and a few other toys. Being the good son that I am, I told my father to give me his guns so I could clean them. This morning I got up early and went to work cleaning. I took apart his 336 (built in 1976) and gave it a good much needed cleaning. Put it back together nice and clean. I than proceeded to take apart my "336" built by Remington (purchased in 2014). What a difference in the two guns. The older 336 has a nice heavy bolt, the lever, although worn a bit looks solid. Nice gold trigger. Beautiful walnut stock. Mine....mine looks like marlin in remington cloths. The bolt is solid but not like the older one. The lever is a lever. The finish on the newer one is that annoying finish that picks up lint from cleaning patches and rags. Fit and finish on mine is mediocre at best. Don't get me wrong, mine shoots great and I have it with open sights. It cycles well and I enjoy shooting it....but it's a far cry from my Dads marlin.
  20. I practice sitting, standing, kneeling on one knee...kneeling on both knees.
