  3. wow great deer congrats to your friend! I'll be out there this weekend!
  4. i went up for round 2 this past weekend at my farm in 4g and i saw an absolute monster. He caught me with my pants down. Came in behind me downwind, i never saw him until he got to 20 yards and he busted me. Biggest deer ive ever seen....EVER
  5. im thinking lockdown? thats the only thing I can think of as to why the sightings would drop so much. Its right on time for Alsheimer's rut prediction. My bro in law didnt see anything either and he was in a good spot with tons of deer.
  6. Bart, I think you should stick it out til the very end. You never know what can happen out there unless your there. Some does that haven't been bred will come into heat again and the doe fawns usually come into heat a bit later in the season so its far from over. December is the time to key back to food because this is what the bucks will be doing. They need to put back on all the weight they lost during the rut. Hunt hard until the end, watch your scent, dont burn out your stands by overhunting, and listen to your brother in law.
  7. id say mine was an 8. I took a doe on columbus day and my biggest buck with a bow on 11/14. Between Long Island and Schoharie county Ive seen 9 bucks on stand. I hit an 8 point high in the back of the second day of the archery season in suffolk and never recovered it. That one really messed with my head for a while. Good season overall.
  8. did you shoot it in the neck?

    nice 6

nice deer man congrats! what area was the deer killed?
  10. im not sure if there's a method for hunting does specifically, but i did recently read a dirty little trick from a magazine. Get a fawn distress call and blow on that while on your stand. The maternal instincts of a doe will cause her to investigate and maybe save the fawn thats in distress. This technique will work on does that dont have fawns too, but its more effective on moms. I've never tried this during deer season but I have called in does while coyote hunting so I know it works. Give it a shot!
  11. Interesting you should say that cause I took an adult doe this year out of one of my spots and the place shut down for like 2 weeks. I didnt see a single deer when before i was seeing around 4 or 5 a sit. I think you're on to something with that.
  12. I THINK I JUS DID SOMETHING ELSE BESIDES PEE LOOKING AT THAT BEAST!
  13. anything and eveything you got. Try grunting. If that dont work try the can. If that dont work snort wheeze. If that dont work hit the horns. Give it hell u got nothing to lose at that point.
  14. when i was in college in the bronx i needed tags too. I went down to a shady area of the bronx I think it was by Jerome Ave but I wouldnt advise on that. I got my tags, got outta there and killed a nice 7 pointer that Saturday.
  15. That was a great story & great buck Cabin Fever! Here's one I got on Sunday Morning. Thank You Primos Can he came running!
  16. It exploded this weekend where i hunt. There was one hot doe with 4 different bucks chasing her. Scrapes were all ripped up & fresh and about a half dozen new rubs popped up. Saturday evening I saw a bunch of does acting really nervous when out of no where this spike comes running in chasing every one of them. He passed my stand grunting three times that evening. Then the next morning I shot the 7 pointer. After I shot him I got out of my stand and was talking on the phone to a friend when a 5 point walked to within 10 yards. I snort wheezed at it & he was gone. About 2 minutes later I look over & here comes another smaller 7 point! Snort wheezed him outta there too. What a weekend! I'd say now's the time to sit in the woods all day. P.S. I shot the buck at 10:30 A.M.
  17. i shot one on long island on columbus day. Big mama around 90 lbs dressed. Besides that i've been seeing the does but what concerns me is how few fawns ive been seeing up at my farm (4G). Only one seen in person & one on the trail cam. Lots of yotes where i am.
  18. He was all broken up on his brow & tip of the main beam on the right side. His left G2 & 3 were broken too. He also had big scabs on the back of his neck from this year. This guy was a brawler!
  19. thanks guys still riding the wave! Here's a few more pics of him.
  20. wow i had the same thing happen to me last year! I love the summit openshot for the price. Ive had that stand for 6 years and killed a bunch of deer out of it, plus like you said, you can use the top part as a tree seat for gun season.
  21. I shot the deer on Long Island in Suffolk County.
