  1. Tried to post a flyer, but it won't let me. New York Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers is hosting a pint night in Manhattan: January 16th, 6-8pm American Whiskey (near Penn Station) 247 W 30th St, New York, NY 10001 You don't need to be a member to attend. Bring a friend or two....these events are an awesome way to meet fellow hunters and anglers and swap stories and/or make new contacts over a beer (or bourbon, if you choose). Would love to meet you there!
  2. Come to the NYC Pint Night at American Whiskey on January 16th and you might be able to convince me, lol. @ATbuckhunter should be there too.
  3. Hey everyone. I just wanted to let people know that the NY Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers will be holding a Pint Night in NYC at American Whiskey (247 W 30th St, New York, NY 10001- about a block or so from Penn Station) on January 16th at 6pm. This is a really cool venue and the event will be held in their loft. This will be an awesome opportunity for forum members to meet up and grab a few beers while meeting other hunters and fisherman in the NYC area. You don't need to be a BHA member to attend and can bring along any friends or hunting partners that you would like. Please PM me if you would like more info or have any questions. Thanks, Tom
  4. Not to hijack this thread, but NY Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers will be having a Pint Night on January 16th at American Whiskey near Penn Station from 6-8. We had a few forum members come to our last pint night in Brooklyn and it was a great time. Would love to meet some of you at this event if you are around and interested! PM me if you would like more details. I will more than likely start a new thread as we get closer to the date of the event.
  5. I have a Barronette Big Cat and it withstood two heavy, wet snowfalls of at least 6". The blind collapsed under the weight both times, but once cleaned off, I was able to put it back up with absolutely no issues. I thought for sure that it was done after the second time since the snow was mixed with ice and it was HEAVY. Those things are tough!
  6. Thanks for pointing that out. Was thinking the same thing and wondering when someone would make the distinction between the two. Also like to point out to the OP that hunters don't "catch" deer. It sounds like you might be a new hunter based on using this term and it will save you alot of ballbusting in the future if you don't refer to killing deer as "catching" deer.
  7. I still haven't gotten mine yet either. Called DEC on Monday and finally got a message from them today. They said that it must have been lost in the mail and to go to a Dick's or another license issuing location and have them reprinted for free. I call BS....I think that that is what they are telling everyone that hasn't received them yet instead of admitting their incompetence.
  8. There is a First Lite group on facebook where you might be able to find some deals https://www.facebook.com/groups/1751547405059711/?ref=group_header
  9. Still don't have mine either, but my dmp's came yesterday. In the letter that came with the dmp's, it says that for lifetime licenses "you should receive your license and carcass tags no later than September 1."
  10. That thing is awesome...just like everything else you do! What kind of wood did you use?
  11. Buffalo Trace on the rocks. I, too, enjoy an occasional cold beer in the shower.
  12. Lots of great info can be found here https://www.facebook.com/groups/464615053939762/ It is called "East to West Hunting Group" and it is taylored toward helping people get started in DIY western hunting. Great group of people with varying levels of experience.
  13. @left field thanks for coming. It was great meeting you!
  14. Great turnout last night! Also great to meet those who were able to make it. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  15. City only by zip code, but I will definitely drink one for you . Maybe you can convince @Rebel Darling to bring you down to one of these events.....or to one up that way.
  16. I am originally from the Adirondacks. My folks still live there and that's where I hunt. Believe me, I wish I was still living up there most of the time. I met a great woman from Queens and that's where I live now, so I guess you could say that love brought me down here, lol. The deal we made was that we will be retiring up there, so at least it gives me something to look forward to!
  17. That's too bad, but understood. We will be having more things going on throughout the year, so maybe we'll catch you at one of those!
  18. That's great! My name is Tom. We will have name tags, so look for me and say hi! Looks like it's going to be an awesome turnout.
  19. Just wanted to remind anyone that might be interested that we will be having our pint night in Brooklyn tomorrow. We will have several great raffles as well as merchandise available. I know at least a few people on here are planning on coming. I look forward to meeting anyone who does come- looks like we are going to have a great turnout.
