Well thanks for ruining my lunch, lol...

Nice! A buck like that makes it easier to bear the cold!

Glad to see that you are calling it a "backpack". I was thinking about posting in the "hunting pet peeve" thread that a pet peeve was Biz calling his backpack a "book bag", lol

Lone Wolf stand and sticks is an awesome combo for carrying and hanging, but they are quite pricey. I have this setup and love it. I just bought a Hawk mega combat this year and am happy with the size and comfort, although it is noticably heavier than the LW.

I'm no expert, but that sounds like two gay squatches to me....

Old enough to know better than to show himself in daylight, lol.....hopefully the rut will make him too dumb to care.

Thanks for the refreshing story. While I have killed some decent bucks in my hunting life, I have fallen into the same situation that you found yourself in. The only thing that it did was make me feel too much pressure and anxiety. I began enjoying myself much more when I stopped caring so much about antler size and other hunters choices and started paying attention to the moment at hand and the situations that I found myself in. Perfect example was a couple of week ago when I shot a spike horn within an hour of being on stand. An hour total for the season, mind you. I know that there are bigger bucks around, but at the moment it felt right to shoot the spike horn. I was able to kill a doe with the same arrow/broadhead combination from the same stand that evening. It was an epic day for sure and one of the best in all of my time hunting. When I stopped being jealous or angry at others choices and success and stopped putting so much pressure on myself, I began to enjoy the hunt much more. Nothing is guaranteed....Enjoy every sandwich....

Gonna play the part of Biz this morning and ask if the "wet back" is a tresspasser....sounds like some interesting action by your stand,

Good luck. Glad that you called deer search. Hope to see pics of him after a successful recovery.

I had great luck with the G5 Montecs when using them for the first time last week. Shot a spike horn in the morning last Friday, skinned it, quartered it, cleaned the arrow and sharpened the broadhead and killed a doe with the same arrow/broadhead from the same stand before dark that afternoon. Cleaned and sharpened the broadhead again and you cannot tell the difference between it and my other arrows. Both deer died within 10 seconds and within sight of my stand. Oh, and I used evercalm around the stand for what it's worth. Had deer come in from all directions and even had a deer hanging around the gutpile from the buck and they didn't seem to care.

People who drop the "s" when talking about multiple bucks or does, as in "I saw 2 buck and 4 doe on my morning hunt..." I know that they can be interchanged, but for some reason this bothers me. Another is people who use the term "seen" instead of "saw", as in "I seen 2 buck chasing a doe...". Or "I seen two nice rubs on the way to my stand..." I will say this, though- some of the best hunters that I know do this. Maybe if I spent more time on hunting and less on grammar it wouldn't bother me so much, lol.

Pretty sure that Sam Potter moved....I think I remember him saying to Iowa?

I had a 2006 Outback and got rid of it for that very reason- area in the back was just too small for a car seat...loved the car, though, and planned to drive it til it died.

Nice set-up. Do you notice any wear on any of your gear that you have exposed to ozone? I read a few reviews about it affecting the elastic and glue on clothing and I think rubber also(?). I imagine that it would need to be exposed quite frequently for this to happen, though. Anyway, it was enough to scare me away from it because I spent so much on my hunting clothes that I would be really irritated if they got ruined by ozone.
-
I wash my clothes in scent free soap and try to keep them in a vacuum sealed bag to keep as much odor off of them as possible, but in the end I don't think that it matters much. It seems like guys like you have just as much if not more success than the ones who are fanatical about scent control. You know how to hunt, period. There are no shortcuts, and unfortunately I think that a lot of people give in to the whole "scent control" craze instead of paying attention to the wind as much as we should....

Thanks for the input. Probably going to go with the boundary waters duffel from cabela's and continue with the vacuum sealing of items to go into it.

I am just curious how everyone else stores their hunting clothing? I used to keep mine in a large dry bag similar to this http://www.cabelas.com/product/boating/boating-accessories/waterproof-bags-containers/pc/104794380/c/104706180/sc/104682780/cabelas-boundary-waters-backpack/2398089.uts?slotId=2, but it is a pain in the ass as I would have to take everything out if I need something in the bottom. Now, I vacuum seal my clothes in a couple of large ziploc bags made for that purpose and keep them in a large bin. I am not crazy about this setup and found a bag made by gameplan gear https://www.midwayusa.com/product/121593/gameplan-gear-base-camp-scent-control-duffel-bag-system that looks like just what I need...until I realized that this company seems to have gone out of business. I am now leaning towards something like this http://www.cabelas.com/product/boating/boating-accessories/waterproof-bags-containers/pc/104794380/c/104706180/sc/104682780/cabelas-boundary-waters-duffel-bag/2398088.uts?slotId=0 but figured I would put it out there to see what everyone else does and maybe get a new idea that I haven't thought of. FYI, I do not have an area like a garage or barn outside where I can hang clothing and do a bit of traveling to hunt in westen NY as well as the Adirondacks, so I prefer to use a bag that will keep things as scent free as possible. I almost pulled the trigger on one of the scent crusher ozone bags, but read a few reviews where ozone is not the greatest for anything that has rubber and wears out elastic and anything glued over time.

This one had me laughing...either that person is handicapped, a scumbag, a handicapped scumbag, or has a great sense of humor....I am hoping it's the latter....

I know he's had some hunting related issues in the past, but man this sucks as I enjoyed their music.... http://pagesix.com/2017/09/08/troy-gentry-of-montgomery-gentry-dies-in-helicopter-crash/?_ga=2.139028979.1181598223.1504483190-412590387.1486486109
