  1. Here's his giant non typical brother....I am going to have some tough decisions come opening day....
  2. Thanks moog for the laugh....this is one of the funniest threads I have read in a long time....pictures or it didn't happen.
  3. Right under the ladder stand too. What do you think he will score?
  4. I think that you should shoot him at 170 yards with the bow....if you shoot him at 180 you'll get a lot of grief for the longer shot.
  5. Cool looking rack on that buck in the 2nd an 3rd pics from the bottom- nice little drop tine!
  6. Sure looks like one to me.
  7. Not to sound like a jerk, but did you watch the whole video? And also read the title of the video?
  8. That's pretty cool! Not sure if you have seen this video, but it's great...
  9. I shouldn't have to ask this question, but since we live in New York State, did you get a copy of the hunting regulations when you bought your hunting license? If not, check this out.... http://www.eregulations.com/newyork/hunting/
  10. If you don't have a ton of money to spend, at least pick up some merino wool base layers. As far as outerwear, I don't use wool pants or jackets, though it certainly wouldn't hurt if you can find something light weight and affordable. I use merino wool base and mid layers, and outer layers are typically something that is water proof and breathable. I have found that the worst thing that you can do is start with a base layer that is made of cotton as it absorbs perspiration as opposed to wicking it away the way that merino wool does. Wet=cold.
  11. As others have said, wool is best. I use First Lite gear. It is pricey, but I have found out the hard way that I spent more money on cheap gear over the years and would have saved in the long run if I would have just gotten the more expensive and better quality gear in the first place. X2 on the layering.
  12. I am that way with visors...either wear a hat or don't.
  13. Gotcha...kind of sounded like you were generalizing. Glad to hear that that is not the case.
  14. Is that really necessary? I know plenty of guys with beards like that and they are some of the nicest people that you would ever meet.
  15. Great minds think alike, I guess. I see that you posted this while I was typing my reply.
  16. I took some panty hose, cut the legs into 6 or 8 inch sections and put small sections of spruce boughs in them. Twist tie the ends and throw them in the bag mixed in with your hunting clothes. I have had the same ones in with my hunting clothes for the last 8 years or so and they still have a fairly strong scent. I imagine that this would work with some other variety of tree or leaves that have a familiar odor to wherever you are hunting. Now that I am mentioning this, I think that it might be time to swap them out with some new ones.
  17. I have this one made by Thermos and love it....I throw it in my pack and drink from it all day. It keeps coffee warm, fits at least 3 cups (probably four, though as I have never filled it to the top) and doesn't leak one bit. It fits all of your criteria with the exception that it doesn't have a hook for hanging, though. https://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Stainless-Commuter-Bottle-Midnight/dp/B00K7CZHJ0/ref=sr_1_8?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1473547693&sr=1-8&keywords=thermos+coffee+travel+mug
  18. I was going through some of my old hunting photos and found these from 2008. I was fishing on a lake in the Adirondacks when my buddy and I saw this doe walking through the water. We could see from about 300 yards away that she had something on her ears. When we rowed closer, we could see that she had tags in both ears and a collar. She went along feeding and paid little attention to us. I wish that I had a better quality camera at the time. I was rushing to get some pictures and unfortunately most were blurry. Too bad wooly and alloutdoors weren't with me as they would have gotten some much cooler shots.
  19. He doesn't look like he cared for it too much though....
  20. I think that it is safe to say that they are shedding some velvet!
