Viral video of a-holes torturing buck in Pennsylvania
Steuben Jerry replied to Steuben Jerry's topic in General Chit Chat
Just saw this update, they finally charged them. At least they’re felony charges. Hope they don’t get to deal their way out of them. https://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2020/01/10/brookville-deer-abuse-video-charges-filed/ -
Looks like a fun GTG and that's a great group pic!

I haven't ice fished in a few years, but three inches of good clear ice will support a person with no problem. It's a blast to pull in a pike hand over hand and watch him come in under clear ice! Of course, know your waters and know where there might be springs.

I haven't had the issue in a couple of days. Work and home pc (windows) are good, iPad and iPhone are good. I don't have tapatalk. -
Drive safe and have fun guys! Hoist one for me!

Same stuff here. I had it happen on a PC and on an ipad. I just closed the page by killing the active browser. But it happened again the next time I loaded the HNY page. -
Political humor

My feelings exactly! -
We didn't check out Lynchburg but I'd like to on a future visit. We were near the southern border around the middle east/west wise, and checked out a bunch of places traveling west to the Roanoke area. As we got closer to the mountains, it felt more like home. Wasn't a lot of hardwoods until we got near the mountains. Those pine plantations that were all over the state didn't really appeal to us.
-
We checked out Virginia last year, even looked at a few houses. The Roanoke area appealed to us. Since then, the state turned full blue, and they have their version of the NY Safe act ready for the governor's signature any day now. The Safe Act here hasn't really bothered me except to go through the silly AR compliance neutering. But when states go blue, gun laws are like the canary in the coal mine for all of the other BS. Like ridiculously high taxes. We're going to check out the northern part of NC later this year. Property taxes in VA and NC are less than 1/10th of what they are here. I've got anywhere from 1-4 years to retirement. If my property taxes were reduced that much I could probably retire now. It ain't the weather!

So sorry Eddie.

Great post LEG!

I think he'll be in rehab, a mental ward, or prison by the time next season rolls around. That guy is a great athlete but a legit basket case.

Welcome aboard Huey!

Haha, I'll wear my sissy badge with pride if it wards off venomous snakes that come at you!

Technically the drought ended in ‘17, but everyone considered that a fluke. It has been 24 years since they won one. That ends today to keep the Bills/Chiefs matchup hopes alive. Go Bills!

What is this dry January of which you speak? Sounds scary!

I know there’s been quite a few lease threads, but I’ve got a slightly different situation. Our land is L shaped and on the inside of the L, we wrap around two sides of a 62 acre corn field which is not posted. The farmer also has a house on the road front of that property that he rents to a tenant. The tenant comes to the back of the corn field and hunts deer but shoots in toward us. I had a trespassing issue three years ago when the tenant was new, but that hasn’t been an issue since. Being unposted, we also see others that walk in from the road, not trespassing on us but posting up 100 yds away and shooting toward our woods. I don’t really care for this situation and am thinking of making an offer to lease the property for hunting and hopefully be able to put up posted signs on the borders. So I’m trying to think of a fair offer. It’s not really huntable for deer as he leaves the corn standing til muzzleloader season (he grows 5 years of corn, 5 years of alfalfa, and just had year two of the corn cycle). For spring turkey it’s good, but that’s about it. I wouldn’t really use the property all that much, I’m more interested in just locking it up and treating it as a big food plot. I met the owner when I first moved here 12 years ago but he has since turned the business over to his sons whom I haven’t met yet. They own or lease quite a few different properties in the area. They come in the spring to plant, and come back in the fall to cut. That’s the only activity there. There’s no features besides the crops and one hedgerow bisecting the field. No water, just a big open field, although there is 3-4 acres of woods near the back. On the pic the red is our place, the blue is what I’m thinking of leasing. I was thinking $10/acre? Thoughts?

All done for the year..how did your camp make out?
Steuben Jerry replied to G-Man's topic in Deer Hunting
We took 3 does and 3 bucks on 138 acres. My wife took her best buck (at the taxidermist) and as far as we know 80% of the bigger local bucks are still on their feet for 2020. Lots of sightings of deer, two flocks of turkeys almost every day, foxes, and various critters. Also had a bald eagle surveying one of our fields one afternoon. Lots of family time, good food, but sadly not enough beer consumed. Just think how big those beers will be next year! -

Just saw this article. Remind me to never go hunting in Mississippi! Heck I freaked out when a little lethargic garter snake peeked under my turkey blind a few years ago. I don't know if I'd hold it together if all of a sudden a rattler started rattling in the tent with me! https://www.foxnews.com/great-outdoors/mississippi-hunter-rattlesnake-deer-stand @Belo weren't you living and hunting in Mississippi a few years back?

Congratulations Otto! Our first grandchild was also a boy after us raising two daughters. To be fair, his twin sister was born a few minutes later. We're up to 4 g-kids with hopefully one more planned. You're going to love this time in your life!

That's terrible! Definitely sounds like spraying bullets with no clear target ID.
