  1. Tough decision. Quick check on Edmunds shows $5-6k value for similar mileage (higher for lower mileage and southern state origin). Makes it tough to put $2k into a 5k vehicle. If it were me, I'd try what Rob suggested and if the tranny really was shot - and is drivable - I'd drive it right to a dealer and use the $2k for a down payment along with your trade. A dealer won't look too close at it as they'll surely wholesale it off being 10+ years old. The good body will work in your favor on that.
  2. I border the corn field on two sides. Depending on the wind, there’s a stand on a heavy approach trail through my woods/brush leading to an inside corner of the corn. And I’ve got a double ladder stand for opposite wind that overlooks the other inside corner from 30 yds off the line. (Have permission to shoot into the field). I think he’s going to finish in the morning, so I’m planning on a decent afternoon sit. I wish I had a buck tag left!
  3. Of all the days for the neighboring farmer to cut his corn. Not five minutes after posting the above pic, we hear the combine fire up. He was within 200-300 yds of us for his turnaround passes. Multiple vehicles making a racket. No deer seen, but did see a flock of turkeys going to roost. They promptly crossed our field in the opposite direction when the combine made the first pass. Going to drive over there shortly and see if he’s cutting overnight or coming back in the morning. Have to plan my strategy around it. Could be great for an afternoon sit tomorrow after he finishes up.
  4. Out for the afternoon shift with my grandson Jake and two doe tags in my pocket.
  5. Agree, I’m always cautiously optimistic, but I’m full go with this team this year. Allen may only be in his sophomore year, but he’s got swagger that I haven’t seen since the early Kelly years. And more importantly, the arm and legs to back it up. I can see him playing smarter with each game too. He’ll have some dud games that will leave me scratching my head, but his trajectory is definitely upward. The line gave him plenty of time yesterday, Singletary is a force, and oh that defense! Cmon and jump in slowhand, the water’s fine!
  6. The ready for prime time Bills! 9-3!
  7. 25 mph by my wind gauge. Just took our little dog out and when he lifted his leg to pee, the wind blew him over. He looked a little scared but it was pretty funny!
  8. And with a bow! I think I’d be shaking too hard to shoot if that thing was 20 yds from me!
  9. We had Thanksgiving last Thursday when the Delaware daughter and family was up for deer. Turkey, the traditional sides, apple and pumpkin pie. This Thursday wife and I will greet the sunrise together in the tower blind. We're going to hunt the morning, settle in for football the rest of the day - go Bills - and put a prime rib in the oven for an early dinner. Friday morning we'll be picking up the three Rochester grandkids for the long weekend, and 12 year old grandson and I will do our traditional Black Friday doe hunt.
  10. Congratulations to your Dad Biz, you guys are having a heck of a year!
  11. Well that’s just silly, even I know the proper use of a toilet paper tube is to be duct taped onto an existing scope for a sunshade..
  12. Live from the living room watching the Bills game. 35 yds from the deck. We have doe tags, I could go for the Wolc special..
